A lot of lipbalms actually use an ingredient
that causes your lips to be more chapped,
plus you lick your lips more often with flavored
balm. research it to see if your balms are making
your lips more chapped, and in the meantime use
Petroleum jelly or olive oil.

Ummmm....will tell ya what worked for my ex. She used a lanolin cream normally used on nipples when breast feeding to help prevent similar problems. Found in the baby departments. Odorless and tasteless.

Thanks for all the replies so far!![]()

I use & like vitamin E stick, by Reviva labs sold @ ulta, http://revivalabs.com It's about $3.99. I also use it under my eyes, & around cuticles. For the brutal winters here, sometimes I dab on a little olive oil then put the stick over that.

I saw on Dr. Oz that chapstick type balms make your lips peel like a croissant. He suggested coconut oil. Make sure your body is not deficient in B vitamins, iron or essential fatty acids. These deficiencies can cause scaling of lips and cracking of lip corners. Take a multivitamin/mineral supplement.

Use a lip balm with Cocoa Butter in it

Just moved to Vegas and am going through this big time. The only thing I have found helpful is Aquaphor ointment, even though I'm drinking almost a gallon of water a day.

Petroleum jelly, lanolin cream, coconut/olive oil are great-I'm personally a fan of Paw Paw ointment.
I've read that if your body is deficient in B vitamins, iron or essential fatty acids then it can cause dry/cracking lips, skin etc.

Cocoa butter stick and I use a Bliss brand lip scrub almost daily its pretty gentle but removes all the gross flakes before I try to pull them off myself and make matters worse.. it also moisturizes. I put tons of vaseline on my lips before bed too. Seems to keep the dryness at bay but if I start slipping it comes right back. ugh!

Okay ... went to the store today, bought extra vitamins & nipple cream ... smooth lips, here I come!!!!
