    Default Migraine?

I have had this Migraine for 3 days. It is just this constant terrible pain on my left side. My eye on my left side has swollen up and it waters. Does anyone have any remedies? I also have not been able to eat. Thinking of food makes me want to throw up everywhere.

I have tried taking every drug under the sun for it. I have drank a ton of water. I have tried almost everything any website offers. Idk what to do anymore so anyone have any suggestions? I don't have health insurance so seeing the doctor is out of the question.

The only thing that really works for me is sleep, not being awake. Mine tend to start out small and get progressively worse until I throw up. Nothing seems to work for me, not completely but I am starting to think that taking some kind of sinus medication helps a little. Yesterday I took NyQuil for my migraine and I think it helped a little.

Also I know I am a freak but McDonald's fish sandwiches give me very special migraines where I will actually get a visual, a small spinning rainbow that gets larger and larger until it covers my entire field of vision. I quit eating McDonald's fish sandwiches.

I know you said you don't have insurance, but you could maybe try an urgent care facility in your area. The one here works like a walk-in clinic, and you pay like $85 to meet with a doctor and have them examine you and prescribe medicine. Usually you can get the generic of a brand name pill from your pharmacy, so all in all - maybe $150 or so. Really worth it if these start lasting a long time or you continue to have them. When I had migraines all through out highschool, the only remedy for me was a pill prescribed specifically for migraines from my doctor (can't remember the name, it's been awhile)...other remedies just wouldn't deal with it.

    Good luck!

    The eye swelling up makes me think you should see a doctor. I've had the worst type migraines imaginable since I was like 12 years old and I've never had my face swell up. >>;

If you feel like throwing up, though. Do it and then go pass out somewhere. I swear it's the best mirgraine cure out there.

The eye swelling is a bit worrying, yes.

I've got migraines, had severe ones my whole life. Imitrex shots are the only thing that helps take them away completely but if I'm out of them I have several things I do. Drinking tea or classic coke will sometimes settle my stomach so I can keep meds down. I wet down and freeze a towel till it's about half frozen to put on my head or use an old fashioned headache ice bag to keep on my head. Cold helps a lot. Also getting in a really hot bath (but keep your head out of it, keep the cold on your head) will often help draw blood down into your body and away from your head. Instant relief at times. I soak for hours when I can in a hot bath with a few cups of epsom salt to relax my muscles.

I also find if I have no prescription meds to use that plain Excedrin will help with a mild one. If it's severe liquid Nyquil will work wonders if I can choke it down. I usually have to do a dose every 4 hours till it eases. (found out about the Nyquil on a migraine support msg board).

I've killed some really major migraines at times with the Nyquil / hot bath/ cold pack on head combo.

Hope some of these things will help you. I wouldn't wish migraines on my worst enemy! they are so hard to deal with. Hope you feel better soon.

This doesn't sound like a migraine.

My boyfriend gets two different types of migraines, and he says that he's never had swelling.

I would also worry about swelling in your eye. Even if its just a bit of inflammation it could be damaging the optic nerve and causing the headache. You don't wanna put your vision at risk. My sister had crippling migraines weekly for most her life and she had to take Tylenol 3, then lie in a dark room listening to a relaxation exercise and usually fall asleep for about 15 hrs. I don't know if you are on hormonal birth control but apparently that is a big no no for my sis. She gets the kind with visual disturbances and apparently that puts you at higher risk of stroke.

Just go to the ER -then you can worry about paying the bill later or take as much time as you need to pay it. Eye swelling is def not a symptom of migraines -it's prob pressure, fluid or something else more serious.

Go to your local health food store or anywhere you can get fresh or freshly dried catnip-the weed you pull outta your garden. I tsp in a cup of boiling water, drink, it will take care of the migraine and you will sleep like a baby for hours. I've had many migraine suffering friends thank me when I would hand them a jar of my dried catnip and instructions. Days later, they would tell me I should patent my "cure", lol. It's just catnip, I swear, it works. Hope you feel better. Oh, and herbs are cheap too, another bonus-I don't have insurance either, so I am the natural remedy queen!

eye swelling and watering does NOT sound like a migraine. I don't know about the different types of migraine but it doesn't seem possible that they last for 3 days. The worst part of mine last about 1/2 hour to hour. It's moves from one side of my head to the other then I get the migraine "hangover." I do get blurry vision and I get the halo of light/blind spot about 15 minutes before the attack but never swelling or tearing. I have had max of 2 attacks in one day and that was only once. The after effects and feeling horrible last for a couple days but I know it's not the migraine, just the leftover effects of the attack.

I strongly suggest you go see a doctor as your symptoms have not improved.

Migraines can last continuously for a few day (sux really bad). But the eye swelling is what makes me nervous -I would rather see a doctor or something than risk something negative happening possibly to my eye or vision instead.

The eye swelling makes me think it's cluster headaches. My dad's best friend gets them and his eye swells up as well.

I'd go to urgent care to double check though.

what type of migraines do you have?
My boyfriend has optical and ramshorn (sp?) pattern migraines; we were talking about your remedy and he wanted to know why type(s) you had.
