Default Taxes and 1099s in NYC clubs

I was JUST hired at a club in Manhattan and am wondering if I will be receiving a 1099 form next year, as I did in my former club, which was also in Manhattan.

The earnings reported were from what the club had to pay out to me in exchange for funny $, of course.

Is this typical of clubs in NYC? Are they audited closely and/or vigilant about following whatever tax laws apply to these kind of establishments?

I have no clue what the tax laws are regarding dancers and/or the strictness of the law for the clubs which “employ” them when it comes to reporting their earnings.

Anyone know or know where I can research this info?

    Thanks
    j

^^^ yup where major New York clubs are concerned, you will definitely receive 1099's for any moneys that the club paid to you. This is extra important in New York, since these clubs face not only a federal income tax but a NY state income tax plus a NY city income tax. If the club doesn't issue 1099's, the customer credit card charge money would officially appear to be taxable income for the club. By issuing 1099's the club officially 'shows' the taxman that the customer credit card charge money was not kept by the club, but instead was paid out to another business i.e. independent contractor dancers, thus making the dancers not the club responsible for the income taxes due.
