    Duh Shoe Issues...help!

So i decided to return to dancing after a year off. I didn't think i'd ever dance again, so I got rid of my shoes. Unfortunately, I'm having the hardest time finding ones that fit! I'm usually a size 8.5, but most of the shoes come in whole sizes. I ordered a pair of pleasers in a size 8 online, but they were too small. I returned those, got a size 9, and they ended up being too big. I don't really have time or money to order another pair at the moment. I was wondering if anyone had any tricks for making shoes fit a bit more snug.... or if i'm totally screwed on that one. Also if anyone knows of any good brands/styles for my odd-sized feet, I'd love to know for future reference. Thanks!

I have the same problem. I've used pleasers both size 8 and 9. I am going to stick with the 8s because with the 9s I tripped too often and they'd literally slip off whenever I would spin and invert on the pole. And another time I literally almost fell on the stage. Better too small then lose IMO, so to speak. It helped to take the dryer to them and a bit of powder on my feet as well.

I have the same issue, I am also an 8.5 and I just went up a size, lucky for me the ones I got ran small and turned out to be the best pair of shoes I ever owned. I am still on my first pair, but they are about dead and I am looking for new ones, I dread trying to find another pair as dear to me! Pleaser is usually a great brand for fit for weird feet. I second the dryer idea, conform them to your feet, also get some ties and tie them securely. Other than that I wouldn't know what else to do.

I tried Elie shoes and while they fit well they aren't as good quality as Pleasers. The ankle straps are not reinforced and they snapped the second time I wore them. I NEED the ankle straps or my shoes will fly off while on stage and smack some asshole in the face.

pleaser spring-o-lator shoes! when i first got them I complained that they were too tight (which is odd bcuz I have skinny feet) but after breaking them in around my house they were just fine. they have an elastic band in the sole so that the shoe forms to your foot. I could shake my foot like its on fire & they do not come off unless I pull them off. so maybe you could try a size 9 in the spring-o-lators for the length & they will be snug as well

I am the same size as you - 8.5. I use Pleaser brand. I have a few different styles but the ones I'm most comfortable in are the 2.5" platform heels - 7" total in a size 8. It took me a week or so of work to stretch them out properly and I did get blisters on each of my big toes at first from them being too tight, but after that first week them fit me perfectly. I have small-ish ankles so I always have to poke holes in the ankle straps so that they're tight enough. Ellie shoes are ok but the quality is obviously not great. I like them because I don't have a crazy rubbery grip on the floor with them, so they're easier to turn in. They are a little more padded than the Pleaser shoes, and a little cheaper, too. I get both in a size 8. Good luck!!!

If they have enclosed backs you could try I believe Dr sholls makes these little gel like strips that are made to put in heels to keep your feet from sliding too much but maybe try sticking them in the backs? Sorry its a bit vague.
Edit: I just looked them up and they ar exactly for the backs to keep from rubbing but they are a bit thicker maybe they would help.

Different brands fit different foot types. I find Pleaser works well for narrow feet and long toes. Ellie works great if you have wider feet and shorter toes. The Highest Heel makes really great shoes. They are comfortable and well made. I don't know what style you like but here are a few:
