I cam & get asked constantly to do phone. I don't want to use my personal cell phone. I also don't want to add another huge bill to my monthly expenses. I was just going to get magic jack cuz they say it's only what $20/yr or something but I read it was all bullshit lol so that's out and I also heard any sort of internet based phone isn't reliable.
I'm looking at adding home phone and here is what they tell me online:
Unlimited local & long distance calling to US, Canada & Puerto Rico.
"Low international calling rates"
$19.99/mo for first 6 months
$34.99 for months 7-12
After 12 mo regular charges apply, between $39.95-$44.95/mo.
$29.95 activation fee may apply.
Would I be able to retain privacy using a home phone set up through my cable company? I know with some prepaid cell phones you can use any name you want and have your # come from any area code you choose. Would callers be able to find out my real name and area code listed on my cable account?
Otherwise I might be given a t-mobile phone and they have a prepaid for unlimited talk/text/web for $50/mo. They also have pay by the day plans for $2-3/day which I'm assuming they keep your card on file and charge you for the days you use it, which if you only work (or keep the phone turned on) 5 days a wk this would be cheaper than the $50/mo.
Also wondering if it's useful to be able to have a cell phone you can bring anywhere and take calls wherever you go.
I'm trying to figure out which is a better deal over all from anyone who has experience with this. Thanks so much!

Thanks so much!
