    Smiley Curious in New Mexico

    Hi all,

I'm glad to have found this site! I'm very curious about getting into stripping and am soaking up all the info I can here. I live in the Albuquerque area and have never been to a strip club in my life!

Pretty much the biggest thing stopping me from going and auditioning right now is (this is going to sound pretty sad) fear of lap dances! I've never seen one, my husband has told me all about them (he's been great at answering my questions and so supportive!) but I don't really know what goes down...or what *should* go down...are they safe for the dancers?

Not much more to say except that I will be reading this forum a lot. And if anyone has any info they would like to share on Albuquerque clubs I would be extremely grateful! Particularly I'm interested in what the clientele are like and what kinds of dances are allowed at Albuquerque clubs (and whether they are contact/no contact).

Thanks for a space to chat!

Welcome, that's a big plus if your hubby is okay with you dancing.

Yeah, it took me weeks to get up the courage to tell him! I knew he would at least hear me out but I was surprised at just how open he was! He's even offering to take me out to a club to see what it's all about.

Go to a TDs or Knockouts and check them out. I do well at Knockouts and it's tempest666's home club. But tds may be more your style. Fantasy world is an all nude club associated with Tds. Get some lapdances from different girls to see what they're like. Lapdances are normally safe but you have to be vigilant to make sure guys don't cross the clubs line or your personal boundaries.

Oh hey! I'm in the ABQ area, too! Probably going the camming route instead of stripping (maybe both???) but it's nice to see someone from the local area! Shame I don't know anything about clubs either...

Good luck, and I hope you have a great time!

Cool, shysiemay! Well I will let you know what I find out. I'm planning to visit TD's as recommended.

Thanks papillonluvr for the advice! I've been hearing TD's might be more my speed because it is low contact? Is that true?

I never danced at tds but from what I saw it's pretty low. So is Knockouts, but Knockouts has a special room with more contact. Sides only, no ass or boobies.

Knockouts is my home club. Dances there are $5 table dances, $10 VIP and $20 bubble room. House fees are Sat-Mon $16 Tues-Weds $21 Thurs-Fri $26. DJ tip out is a minimum $5. (Art always gets at least $10)

Don't forget to tip the doormen minimum $3.

LOL -- oh no! So conflicted now!

Ok, some more noob questions then

    1) What's the Bubble Room about?
    2) Any verified no contact/low contact clubs in Albuquerque?

I really, really appreciate all the help you guys. I promise I'll actually do my own "just go to a club already and check it out" soon. Y'all are helping to streamline the process for sure!

There's been a lot of shootings near clubs in ABQ recently... So, pack some heat? Can you conceal carry in a camisole?

Burque as a whole is low contact compared to El Pisso and other places that I have worked.

In order to get a BR they either have to buy a bottle of champagne or pay the $20 admission to get in. Dances are $20 and they can touch, but only back, sides, hair, arms, etc. No boobs, ass or kitty.

Tempest, hopefully you can come to NM soon! If I could send you your favorite holiday eats I would. I've only lived here for about 4 years but I can imagine how much I would miss NM if I were to move away.

Sooo...ok here comes the really awkward question...feel free to laugh, it's a doozy...

If I danced at TD's (or ANY of the ABQ clubs) and made my lap dance boundaries "no touching AT ALL, ANYWHERE, AT ANYTIME" would I just get laughed out the door?

To be perfectly honest, those are my most comfortable boundaries. And yes, they were born out of my being completely ignorant of strip clubs in general, believing that they were ALL no contact clubs.

Alright, I'm gonna go hide under the bed now. Ack! Thanks for humoring me.

I don't know about clubs in your area, as I live in CA, but my friend Resa taught me "how to do it" lap dance, pole, hip rolls, and now she sells vids as lessons and has classes. She's really nice and I'm sure you could get her vids-she is very informative, teaches like you have never seen it before, basics...anyways, go to http://ebyresa.com/ Tell her Heidi sent ya!

Lotte, you wouldn't be laughed out the door. If you don't want to allow contact, don't. If your dances are awesome enough, you shouldn't lose out on any money.

But part of the upsell of the bubble room at Knockout's is the low-grade contact. I'm not sure how TD's does it, but I would imagine a VIP would allow moderate to low contact as well.

    Thanks, Papillon.

I'm surprised but glad to hear this. Lots to think about! I better get my butt in the door and see what it's all about. I need to make a decision eventually!

EDIT: I should ask since you are familiar with the ABQ scene:

If I did not upsell for VIP/Bubble do you think I would lose out on too much money here? I'm not sure what a dancer can hope to earn on an average night in clubs like Knockouts or TD's without the restriction of no-contact, let alone with the restriction.

I didn't really ever sell the bubble rooms at KO's.

One dancer I know normally made $500+ a night in 5-6 hours with few up-sells, I made about $350+ in that same time frame. That girl is a MONSTER seller though, while I am more average/above-average in terms of selling.

However, on a good weekend I could make $500+ a night as well. THose $10 dances can kill you though. You think you're selling a lot and making a ton, but it's all $10.

KOs is very laid back. I agree you have to literally "grind your ass off" to make $500. When I went with Tempest, I did pretty well. Even more dayshift I was average over $400 a shift in about six hours bout you do work hard. I remember thinking a lot "in my NY club, I be getting $200 for ten dances not $100" a lot. Guys tip a lot out there on stage. Day crowd is a lot more friendly and more willing to buy dances from me than night. I don't really like the young crowd any more (I am older now and can't seem to be on the same level as them anymore, sigh). But take a gander and try. Jackie the head lady is nice and sweet if your the same way back. Good luck!

Wow, thanks you guys! That's a lot more money than I was expecting. I'd be glad to make $150 per night, as that would help take care of my bills pretty well.

Hmm. You guys are making me curious to look into Knockouts as well. I need a place that would be a good match for me as a no-contact dancer, that has good security, and where the dancers actually like the management.

Knockouts is chill. If you're only looking for $150/night you'd be fine there. It's right downtown so there's always a steady stream of customers. And if you speak Spanish +1 for you.

    Y'all have been so helpful!

I've been super busy the past couple of weeks so I disappeared from here a little bit. Also, I had a conversation with hubby that kind of changed things around. It wasn't bad but I'm a little confused and conflicted.

He's still alright with the thought of me stripping, but when I said a couple weeks ago, "you know, I think I'm ready to give this a try" he expressed reservations. To be clear: I totally respect that (and told him never, EVER to hold back if he feels any doubt whatsoever). The part I'm conflicted about is that he was worried about my future. He feared that if anyone ever found out that I stripped a lot of doors would close to me. I agreed that there have been terrible (and completely unfair!!) repercussions to girls who were working outside the industry and whose employers found out that they were a dancer and who were villified and fired.

I don't know what I'm going to do with myself in the future but I know I don't want to shoot myself in the foot. But here's the thing: I still can't shake my curiosity about doing it. And I also am really outraged at this villification, the fact that somebody could look at a dancer and say: "you're a menace to society, you can't possibly be a normal, everyday person". Add to this the fact that my job applications are going nowhere....ugh.

So, I've put dancing on a shelf for now. I don't know if I'll ever end up dancing at this point. There is so much to consider besides this one point, and I have to make sure I know what I want. But I wanted to get this out there and, if anyone is so inclined, to get people's thoughts. Perhaps I should move this to a different thread?

For now, I'm looking to explore burlesque. It's not a paying job around here but it's an expression that I'm looking for at least. Maybe that will appease me, maybe I'll get even more confused about what I want to do!

Just wanted to explain the absence so you all weren't thinking "great, another n00b who comes in and asks a ton of questions and then disappears into the ether from whence she came..."

    Hey all,
Just a quick update from my last post (didn't think it was worth making a new thread yet but this one will probably close this convo out). I've had a taste of burlesque and love it. Still can't get my mind off stripping though, especially now that my husband and I have both lost our jobs. Anyways, thanks again for all the help. I'm still lurking here once in a while.
