Default Oh fuck, another lighting question.

Hey. I know how bad this looks, but I can't find the answer anywhere.

I know all about the three point lighting system, which I ignore for artistic reasons (I like high contrast and dark shadows). I LOVE the way my cam looks up close, but when I move back from it for shows/dancing, it's way too dark. And if it's good for far away, it's way too damn light when I'm closer. How do you ladies manage to make it light enough for the distance and dark enough for close ups?

Do you have enough room to stage two seperate areas? Like instead of backing up where you are, turn the camera 180 to show the high lighting area you have set up for dancing/farther back shots. I know some people have restricted space, but this was the only way i could figure out to get both kinds of lighting without adjusting everything each time I changed positions.

I have the same issue. There's probably a better way to do it, but for now I have an extra light I switch on when I move back.

I have one of those 5 bulb lights (they're cheap, you can get them from walmart even for like less than 20 dollars). They come in different color light bulb covers too, like pink, green, and blue. I use one pink cover because it helps soften. What I do to avoid shadows is I tilt one of the lights on the 5 bulb down very low. It helps to not have those dark spot shadows. I also have a pink desk lamp I aim directly where shadows usually would be. And I have another 3 bulb light off to the other side of the 5 bulb light.
So, it goes: 5 bulb lamp all with soft white bulbs to the left of my laptop. pointing directly at my cam station and one pointed down below. One desk lamp aimed directly at the wall where shadows will be behind my laptop, and one 3 bulbed lamp to the right of my laptop, directly across from the 5 bulb lamp. It looks awesome with the c910.
I hope that isn't too confusing

If you could take a photo of that setup sometime I would be very grateful!

I'm always trying to tweak my lighting. I want to get some professional lighting set up too, but will have to wait till after the holidays and all bills paid for that first.
