Hey all...I need some help on this. For the past week or so, I've been breaking out in huge, ugly hives. I've always been prone to hives, but this has just been weird....here's the thing: hives usually come and go in minutes or hours, but very rarely more than 36 hours. These hives have swollen up, lasted for over a day and then turned into red, scaly patches. I keep popping up with new ones too, never very far away from the other ones.
Before ANYONE suggests it, I honestly don't think it's bed bugs. Here's why...
I've had BBs before, and when they bit me, it was the most intense itch...so intense, I couldn't sleep! Their bites lasted for weeks and I had a deep reaction that caused the whole area to swell.
These hives are only mildly itchy; in fact, I often forget they're there in the first place.
BB bites are usually 2 or 3 in a row, but hives also have a tendency to grow next to each other or spread together.
And in all fairness, BB bites are, in fact, hives....but these ones just seem veeery different from when I had a confirmed case of BBs.
Plus, no one else in my house has experienced this! At all! I'm just really worried because it started while we were on a bus trip...so it's possible that I transported some unwanted guests on my luggage. But my luggage was under the bus the whole time and I didn't even get it until I was in Cincinnati. Maybe my purse? But then it doesn't make sense that I'm the only one breaking out. This has also been an exceptionally stressful time...I spent 42 hours on a bus, part of which was on the highway stuck behind a hazmat spill, and THEN someone overdosed and died! They carried him out in a freaking body bag!!! So yes, seeing as I'm already prone to hives, it could easily be stress related. But then why are they lasting for so long??? Please help![]()
