    Default Question for Retin-A users

    Hi everybody,

I just used Retin-A (Tretinoin cream) at 0.05% strength for the first time last night.
up until now I've just used a basic Alpha Hydroxy cream at night,
and when I did I always felt this immediate stingy/tingeling feeling on my face from the Alpha Hydroxy....so I knew it was working!

But last night with the Retin A I felt nothing......is this normal?

I'd heard that people sometimes get the redness and flaking or peeling after using it for a while, but should I be feeling any IMMEDIATE sensations when the Retin A is applied to my skin?

I just want to make sure the Retin A I'm using is the real deal

I had ordered it through the AllDayChemists site and it's the
Johnson & Johnson's brand (although the box it came in has English and Indian writing on it) Of course it ships through India.

I was planning on using this every other night as long as I have no irritation.

Should my face be stinging or tingeling when the Retin A is first applied though?

    Thanks for any advice!

Hmmm - It's been a while since I was on it, but here's what I can remember...
    1) ONLY use a pea-sized amount. More does not equal better.
    2) It'll take at least 2 weeks for any results - in fact, your skin might get worse before it gets better (if you're using this for acne)
    3) I don't think it's supposed to irritate/tingle ... might want to try a lower concentration.

    That's all I got I'm afraid :-|

Yes it's normal, retin a takes a while to work and it doesn't tingle or burn when you apply it. After a few days you may see some skin peeling. I've used this for years, just use a tiny bit and apply 20 mins after you wash your face and never apply on the eyelids.

Thank you for your response everyone....as for the amount to apply, well I tried "Pea sized" but that was barely enough to cover one cheek, so I used more. I ended up dabbing little bit on forehead, each cheek, and chin area then swirling it into my skin. Also put a bit on my neck as I'm seeing the beginings of "Turkey neck" setting in. Thank you for your help everyone!
