    Default New guy introduction

    Hello all. I am thinking seriously about starting dancing as a sideline to help pay for school. I live in London Ontario and I am told there is a lack of dancers for women here.....so I thought I might try to fill that void. I stumbled on this site and it looks like there is a wealth of good info from the people who should know here. Any advice, info or thoughts are graciously appreciated.

    Hi

    Welcome, we don't get many male dancers on here. Have you looked into agents in your area that book private parties?

    I have looked around for agencies in my area and found none so far. I was thinking of looking for parties on my own....is this a crazy idea? I am told by a lady friend that demand should be reasonable and with a little effort I could work a few parties a month. Any marketing ideas are welcome.
    Yes I have noticed not too many males here. But since my target audience is female a female perspective might be just what the doctor ordered.

    I have cruised this site quite a bit and it is a treasure trove of good ideas. I am putting together a private party show that hopefully will leave the ladies giggling at the water cooler the next day. I have been distributing cards and making contacts with any organization that are involved with weddings or parties. Pole dancing studios are quite interested in my services for their partiies. Also been hitting the colleges and university. So far I have gotten quite a bit of interest but no actual bookings. Hopefully this time of year is just slow.
    Quick question for the ladies: what would you recommend I do to make sure my party performance blows the ladies minds? And any good tips for making tips? Thanks all.

    That's great you're getting a lot of interest! As soon as you've done a few parties hopefully you'll get more through word of mouth.

    Tips for making tips? I guess try and make them feel special, making them laugh, just keeping everything upbeat and fun (which it sounds like what you're aiming for anyway). The busiest time of year would probably be spring (a lot of bachalorette parties) but hopefully you could hit up some female dominated industries see if they're interested in hiring you for Christmas parties - I know strip clubs who've hired male dancers around Christmas and had a ladies night.

    Good luck!

    Amareth;

    I have already been told I was a little late for the xmas parties (damn). I have been pursuing female dominated jobs (salons, nursing, clothing stores, spas....) and gotten good feedback. No parties yet. I think the new year will hopefully bring some parties. I have gotten some emails looking for details but no bookings. It is early days.
    Here is a stupid question...should I bring a driver? I think I could protect myself but do guys need some help too? I dont really want to dilute my profits lol

    Good job networking as that is where your personality will shine. Keep it up.

    Go to party supply places and inquire into adult male dancers as "you are looking". Throw on a lisp if you need to. Slowly introduce your needs without shocking them. These places know their competition and specialties.

    Go to local Gentleman clubs and make friends with people there. Talk to the staff and entertainers about the biz in town to get to private party stuff. I have never been to your town but Google says you have 2 in town from simple search. If this goes well, maybe you could Have a 52 card themed cross promo deck. This is more of a vegas thing but nobody has put it together. Present to them the win-win and they will help you.

    You might have to spend a little but market research costs money.
    You have a party bus canada. Go to their site and call them. Site says they do bachelorette parties.

    Go to hotels and motels to see if they do bachelor, Bachelorette parties.

    Just a quick and dirty list if you have more questions let me know.

    Adverteyes;

    Thanks for your imput....much appreciated. Never thought to try the party supply stores ....will do! I have checked the local clubs with mixed sucssess. Left some cards with hopes they will send business my way if it comes. I am checking the party bus route too.

    Not sure what you mean about the 52 cards.....could you expand on that a bit?
    Thanks again.

    Another update for you all. Every thing is going as planned. The party is on the 6th. I think my routine will be pretty good. I am doing a topgun, fighter pilot theme, then some games, then be available for dances. The organizer is cool this is my first time in fact she likes the idea that her party is popping my stripper cherry lol I want to blow their minds to build some word of mouth. I would really appreciate some final input from the ladies here......do's and dont's so to speak.....any input would be great! Thanks.

    Since this seems like the only thread I can post on here is a update. Party went well, ladies seemed pleased and tips seemed pretty good ( but I have no real reference). Was very nervous but quickly loosened up and did a good first show (I think). Hopefully this will be the start of some word of mouth. The ladies behavior was wild but I expected this. Have another party booked for Feb. I hope to be more polished by Bachelorette season. I have high hopes doing parties will be a good way to make extra cash. So far so good. Thanks to all who helped.
