Default What food do you eat on shift to keep your energy up?

I work a night shift (7 hours) but often stay later if it's busy. I start at 7 or 8 ... and by 10 I'm hungry.

By 11 or 12 I'm super hungry and all I can think about is food. Museli bars/lollies haven't helped. I'm getting too low on energy to hustle!

What food/snacks do you girls keep in the DR to eat when you are working?

Carrot sticks & pretzels. Five hour energy drinks.

Protein bar or banana and orange juice. Sometimes I'll have some potato chips.

I work day shift 12-7 sometimes I choose to stay til 10 but our hospitality crew runs food trips for any hungry dancers so its usually the sandwich shops & fried things, 711, or subway. With us occasionally all chipping in and ordering pizza.

Beware of things with lots of fiber (nuts, energy bars, granola bars, whole grains, etc.). I dunno about you, but these things give me terrible gas, which means bloating!! Nooot sexy.

I eat something with protein right before work. Half a portion of packet pasta with a tin of tuna stirred in for example. It keeps me full a long time. Usually a glass or two of champagne keeps my hunger at bay, so I'm not usually hungry unless its a quiet night or I let myself get drunk.

    I work dayshift.

Breakfast before work: Waffles smothered in almond butter & topped w/ banana slices, with a side of veggie-sausages.

At work: we serve lunch, so sometimes I eat the food we serve. Chicken sandwich w/ fries or whatever's on special. Otherwise I'll bring a bowl of noodles, or leftovers from dinner last night. Snack on bananas and granola bars.

Maybe youre eating the wrong things? I only get tired when I eat too much, or eat processed junk :/

I like Clif Power bars (haven't had much in the way of the problems Charlie mentioned) or Veggie Jerky (I love Stonewall's Jerquee).

I HAVE TO keep a snack in the DR, because if my blood sugar drops too low I get dizzy and confused and upset, and my hands shake. I think I might be a little hypoglycemic or something. I'm so sick of guys noticing my hands shaking, and asking me if I'm nervous when I'm really just trying to get through the damn private session so I can go grab a snack because I am fucking HUNGRY!

eating at work makes me feel bloated. i'm not a huge fan of pre-work food consumption, just enough to satiate me before i start getting ready for work.

if i do eat at work, it's probably going to be something sweet (donut, cookie, cupcake) something like that and some coffee with half&half

i don't like eating at work or right before because it brings my energy down as well. lately i've been obsessed with having a soy cappuccino early to mid shift.
i'll have kombucha beforehand and if i absolutely need something at work usually i'll blend coconuts.

then i stuff my face when i'm done. food is like my reward and it chills me out after a shift.

sometimes the girls run for thai food and i can't resist a spicy papaya salad though. but yeah, nothing heavy.

If it's been a long time since I had dinner, working at a club that's quite far away for example, i used to take in a sandwich. Bacon or jam, or turkey was the best if i had any. It wouldn't make me tired cos i'd only eat that if i was soo hungry.

Eating grilled chickrn, veghies and a starch before I work and eating blueberries and bananas thru out the time I'm there. Normally helps keep me balanced.

Do you recommend the caffeine pills you take? I'm looking for some good ones to keep me energized.

I myself am hypoglycemic, so not only energy/blood sugar drops, but I get the shakes, bad. One of the things I love, is Body by Jake protein bars. I haven't had one in a while, only place I know that has 'em is vitaminshoppe.com, I usually go to their regular stores. I believe they're low sugar, and the one I like has cashews.

ETA: I eat other stuff too, that's the main one though. I like nut blends, my fav is almond/pistachio/cashew, haven't been able to find it in the stores

I always bring apple slices for a quick pick-me-up.

Lately I've been baking mini muffins too. I make them kinda healthy too, with wheat and coconut flour (higher protein), flax seeds, and fruit.
