Default whats the best state in the US

i live in ohio, but a bunch of hardcore bitches have really brought me down. im really depressed... ive been thinking of moving away and getting some space lately, i currently live in ohio and theres not really much of anything to do let alone jobs. thats why i started camming in the first place. ive been thinking of new york, or arizona, maybe colorado, i smoke a lot of herb so west would be best but it'd be further from family.

Soo if you could live anywhere in the US where wouldja go??? and why!

Well there is herb anywhere in the US, so I don't think that really matters.
Do you have friends anywhere? That way you could relocate but not be alone.

I've lived most of my life in the northwest, but I spent several months in Colorado. I would totally go back there in a heartbeat, if it wasn't for my family right now. Cost of living is soooooo cheap. There's a ton to do in Denver and Colorado Springs. Pueblo (half an hour from Colorado Springs) has a drive-in, too, which I LOVELOVELOVE. I grew up in a drive-in town so this made my heart sing.

The downside for me was the weather, though. Summer has crazy thunderstorms that shuts off power frequently, kills satellite signals and screws with cell phones. Winter has a ton of snow, which can bury you indoors. As said before, I lived most of my life in the northwest. I like rain, rain and more rain. Snow is not fun for me.

In the end, it really comes down to where you are comfortable being. It's not exactly a small decision to move states. So I recommend researching each state individually before jumping the gun. Anything we say isn't really merit for moving.

i love kansas so much i picked up and moved here, hopefully permanently, for no particular reason other than i just love kansas. it's really beautiful here, there's lots of stuff to do, the cost of living is pretty cheap, and people are nice. but my friends have been trying to get me to move to cali for ages.

Depends on what you are looking for! Your lifestyle, whether you are a city or a country gal, cost of living, etc etc. Is there anywhere that you have dreamed of going? Anywhere that holds an emotional pull?

If I could live in the US (no visa, atm) I would probably choose New York or LA right now. I love New York and try to visit at least once a year - I am a city gal and just love it!! I would also love to try LA - lots of friends, industry contacts, etc.

However, the older I get, the more I think about living further out of the cities - and I know that I would always need to be able to "get away" to some open space...

Take advantage of being a US citizen! Move around, maybe take a road trip for a couple weeks and have a look around!
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.

If I could live anywhere it would be NYC or Miami. I love Vegas but I always get bored there after a few days so I think I would get bored living there.

I like NY because I feel like if you're hustle is right, you could do anything you want to do there. It really is the city of dreams but it will chew you up and spit you out if you're not strong enough. It's also not the friendliest city in the world but who cares because there's a million and one things to do there. I feel like that would be good for me since I do work at home most of my time would be spent inside. It would be nice to walk outside and just walk into anything. I would have to live in Manhattan though. None of the other burroughs will do. It's also a very social city. I feel like I wouldn't have any problem meeting a few,non-judgmental friends there.

If NYC had Miami's climate then I would go there but i'm from the south and I'm used to really mild winters and snow is pretty rare so I can't handle the winters in NY. But ultimately I will end up Miami probably in 2012 because it's time for a change and I can't see myself living in the cold.

well Im in NE and the economy is great to get any job but the herb is illegal although its only a $50 fine here where one state over its a years probation and $1,000 fine.
I'm from FL and the economy is fucked. You can only get and work a job during season which is 4 months out of the year. People actually make a 'living' going through peoples trash on garbage day for scrap metal. So.....dont move there lol

Well I'm going to make the same amount of money whether I work from my current location or in Florida. I work in my bedroom lol. If the economy is bad, all the better because that means the cost of real estate (or apartments) has gone down and I can get a place for dirt cheap. I like Florida a lot. I do know the work is seasonal but I'm not planning to work outside of the home. But I do understand what you're saying if someone were looking for a normal job.

I asked myself the same question a couple of years ago, and after a lot of research I arrived at the answer of ...

    NONE OF THE ABOVE !!!

In truth, I have been able to find almost every attribute of big city night life, generous gentlemen, culture and history, daytime fun opportunities, etc. that I 'left behind' in New York, and a whole lot more, down here way south of the border. What I DIDN'T find was high tax rates, restrictive laws, busybody neighbors, high crime rates ( that affect me personally ), a ridiculously high cost of living etc.

Oh, and it's not too difficult to wake up to this view out the bedroom window ...

On the practical side, high speed internet access suitable for webcam is a bit expensive since there is only one 'monopoly' provider. Getting to a WalMart or a major hospital requires a 25 minute drive plus going through border customs. And a partial knowledge of the Spanish language is helpful, but not absolutely necessary !

Again on the practical side, the near zero local tax rates and a legal $95,000 per year US 'foreign income' tax exclusion mean that you get to keep the 25-30-35% ( actually higher than that if you now live in NY, CA etc. ) of your webcam earnings that you would otherwise be paying to the IRS ( and state tax dep'ts ). For a 'full time' webcam girl this can be worth an extra $15-20-25,000 ( or more if you are a 'top earner' and live in a high tax rate US state ) per year staying in your own pocket !!!

However, I should warn you that the 'laid back' pace of things, the opportunities to socialize with a seemingly never-ending series of vacationing gentlemen from North America and Europe, and the opportunities for 'fun', can be extremely destructive to your webcam 'work ethic' !!! All of the locations shown below are less than 1/2 hour away !

My boyfriend and I moved to Florida to escape the shitty winters and horrible economy in our home state (which had been worst or close to worst in unemployment out of the 50 states for the past decade). No more shoveling snow, we can go for walks most of the year, and there are great entertainment and restaurant options that fit our interests. And the city we chose has a great market for his career field and the one I'm preparing to get into after I'm done with camming.

Whatever you decide, OP, hope you find a place perfect for you!

NC is really nice. The Asheville area has quite a few herb friendly people. I moved to Charlotte 10 years ago, and can't imagine living anywhere else!

When my son is 18 I would love to move to Mexico or somewhere out of the country. What kind of safety issues do you have to deal with?

It's actually much easier to bring him while he's still a 'minor'. If you wait until he's 18 and no longer in school, he will face problems proving his ability to independently support himself to foreign country officials who must issue the 'permanent resident' visas ! Keep in mind that in all of the countries down this way, expat permanent residents are NOT allowed to take a local job ( which is fine where webcam work is concerned, since every webcam host company is a 'foreign' business entity )

As far as safety issues, I haven't run into anything that my pursewarmer couldn't handle ...

... in truth there are parts of the country that you DON'T want to go near for safety reasons. But in point of fact that's true of every major US city as well ! But I do sleep better also having this 'accessory' next to my bed ( and equipped with a visible laser sight )

To elaborate, with essentially zero gun control laws, most would-be 'troublemaking' local residents are smart enough to know that virtually every 'gringo' in the area is very well equipped to protect themselves. And with a criminal justice system that can be influenced by the 'highest bidder', 'troublemaking' local residents know that committing a crime against a 'gringa' with money WILL be hazardous to their freedom if not their health ( did I mention that there is a fairly large group of ex-pat permanent residents that 'look out for each other' ) ! As a result, local criminal types tend to steer clear of crimes against foreign residents, and content themselves with drug profits or robbing locals / short term vacationing foreigners.

Melonie, which country do you live in? Is that Mexico?
no ... but Mexico is 15 minutes away ( that's where the nearest WalMart and major hospital are located ). I'm a bit reluctant to bluntly state where I am living ... but it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out ( i.e connect the dots that the official language of my adopted country is English ). I'll also add that the local culture is more or less 'Caribbean' as opposed to 'central American', from slower pace to friendliness to 'herb' attitudes.

^^^ hmmm ... Texas is far more dangerous than where I live ... Texas has more non-english speakers than where I live ... Texas sure as hell has much higher taxes than where I live !!! Granted that it's one of the best states that the US has to offer.

^^^ I can tell you this much ... within 30 minutes I can go to two casinos, dozens of luxury hotels that cater to rich foreign vacationers ( predominantly US / Canadian and Western European ... which creates a sort of cosmopolitan vibe ), a half dozen yacht clubs, 100 beachfront bars / clubs, etc. It's more of a 'party' atmosphere than a serious metropolitan vibe, but hey you can't have everything. Actually you can, the largest city in my 'adopted' country, the capital city of the next country over ( which DOES have crime problems - I never go alone ), and a Mexican provincial capital city, are all about an hour away if you develop a serious need for urban exposure ! But I usually get my annual dose of serious urban exposure by using some of the money that I no longer have to pay out in taxes to take a 'vacation' back to NY once or twice a year ... after the snow melts !!! ( note that to preserve the 'foreign income' IRS income tax exclusion you can't spend more than 35 days per year within US borders ).

What I don't have available locally and miss a bit from my New York days are 'cultural' institutions like museums ( well, at least museums that don't involve Mayan ruins ), art galleries, colleges, broadway shows, that sort of thing. It's also difficult to find a wide variety of upscale restaurant foods ( although I'm in good shape for anything involving seafood or Argentinian beef ! ). But again you can't have everything. And on the flip side, there are all sorts of things that CAN be easily found down here that can't be ( legally ) obtained in NYC or LA !

Long Island, New York (Nassau County)!

Just a short bus/train ride away from Manhattan. So you're somewhat close to the city without living IN the city.

I live in CT right now and it's not bad. I would prefer to live on a giant catamaran and sail the seas! I don't know that I could settle into one spot without lots of traveling. I was a military brat growing up, so moving around and seeing different places, eating different food, etc. has always been so attractive to me, it's the moving of my stuff that I hate because I am a lover of stuff.

So...a giant catamaran is perfect! I rarely have the desire to go anywhere that isn't connected to a body of water. This is my ultimate dream! Second best would be anywhere that lets me open my own dispensary, hookah bar, and coffee bar combo that is close to the water. That's plan b.

Somewhere with very cheap rent/cost of living. However, many of us have things keeping us in our current locations.
