    Default Who Ruins the Fantasy?

Customers who want the fantasy, pretty girl, no boyfriend and etc. thats all fine with me, i can do that.
But what i got to do when customer pushes further on meeting me OTC or/and be his girlfriend?? I dedicate my free time to my man, family and this is just the job i do to pay my bills, and i like my job. I am just not looking for personal connections.
So, you customers putting me in a position to ruin your fantasy...

I'll be completely honest because I've been there. Most customers who push for OTC don't know it's a fantasy. They think the fantasy is a reality - that you really are the pretty girl with no man and that you might just want to hang out with them (and possibly more).

Think of it this way - they're caught in the Matrix and don't know they're in the Matrix.

I've recently been wondering: when a customer is caught in the illusion, is it possible to keep refusing OTC, but still keep the illusion intact? Or is that just an impossibility like trying to fly while keeping your feet on the ground?

I would think the best regular knows the business is a business and that YOU will initiate any contact outside the club, if at all.

^ You can't be both a "fantasy customer" and one of the douchbags that harasses the girls to see you OTC.

You're violating the 2nd Law: The dancers make all the choices. If they want to see you OTC, they will let you know, and there will be exactly zero doubt about it.

^ What I said was straightforward: Don't be one of the douchebags who harasses the dancers to do OTC.

I think it's pretty clear that I'm defining the behavior of asking out the dancers to be the harassment, and guys who act in this way are the douchebags.

This is particularly true if they start out claiming to be "fantasy customers," since the two positions are fundamentally incompatible.

Kessler discusses this in the post above your original one -- it's worth reviewing what he said on the topic.

With respect to the rest of the laws, keep reading SW. We end up discussing them all in one way or another eventually.

The dancers make all the choices is the 2nd Law, not the 3rd.

They are not the laws of SW, they are the laws for proper customer behavior in a strip club.

For now, just concentrate on stopping the practice of asking the dancers for OTC. It's obnoxious and tiresome for them to have deal with, and in the end it paints you as a pain-in-the-ass customer who hasn't yet learned how to behave properly.

It's a learning curve, so be patient.

I really hate when they start asking for my marital status; it really does ruin everything, whether I tell the truth or not. Most of the time, the customer is the one who ruins everything asking questions that are overly personal.

I ruin it. I kind of am insulted when men ask me this, so I tell them I have a boyfriend (I do). I really hate when men ask me this, like I haven't just danced for 10 other guys who have also asked me that. Of course HE thinks he's so different then the last 10 why wouldn't I wanna go to a movie/have drinks/whatever with HIM? Yeah right.
When I'm not at work the LAST thing I wanna do is go hang out with someone I can probably barely stand anyway for free.
If someone is going to stick their neck out and ask me to hang out with them, I'm defintely gonna squash that.

"Working on your tone" means resisting the urge to include the second sentence.

Doc, I'm new too. I've probably been to the club less than you. But if I may be so bold, maybe I can impart a little advice:

I've been trying to figure out a good way to explain why you're getting so harangued on here. It's like being a soldier. You're fresh outta boot camp. You go to the front lines. There, you find grizzled vets who've been in the sand for two, three, four tours. Would you start telling them how to do their jobs? Why not?

It's not a matter of conformity. It's knowing you know less than your peers and respecting their collective experience and wisdom.

If I didn't like strippers or if I didn't care about this business I would not be here.
Oh great! Another "the customer is always right...right?" guy! The line I highlighted is just plain WRONG! WRONG!! WRONG!!! From what I've read from you so far, the biggest mistake you have made is in thinking that you are in control of what happens when you go into a strip club. The only thing you have control over is who you spend on and how much. To assume that you can impose your particular brand of patronage on any dancer you want just because you have money on you is, clearly, a misconception. If it wasn't you wouldn't be here bellyaching.

LOL, your not my customer. But I guess I shouldn't be so hard on you. Guys like you make it much easier for guys like me to get treated well in the clubs...

TOO and Rick have given you some very sound advice. They have both been around for a while, you would do well to listen. Me? I'm the smart-ass around here. I've been around a while myself but I just don't have the kind of patience for guys who post first and think later that those guys do...

Nothing personal bro but your attitude is tedious.

BTW, this IS arrogant, unfortunately. Yes, we are allowed to tell them our preferences. But "telling them how to do their job" is holier than thou. And you really don't wanna be THAT guy, do you?

Again, I'm new too, but as I understand it, the customers here have a certain respect for dancers. We understand there are a few bad apples, sure, but by and large, we respect what they do, understand how hard it is, and try not to make their jobs any harder.

I think there is a certain degree of humility that you're missing. Maybe because you're romanticizing the profession? Like TOO suggested, the best thing you can do is first learn all the aspects of the job, good and bad. See it for what it really is and understand that the dancers on here have heard everything a million times over.

And then if you still have a suggestion, let it be that - a suggestion said with respect, not with entitlement.

I don't know that I would call my approach to clubbing as the pursuit of a fantasy but I agree with you. Guys who push for non-realistic results simply from buying dances are kind-of asking for a let-down.

To be fair though, there are dancers who also sell that fantasy and do lead guys on into thinking that dating is a possibility.

Dancers very afraid to tell the truth - the fear of losing money/customer. So we end up leading on customer, and thats not cool too.

Its an anonymous board, you're going to get the venting and some of the real, raw emotions here.

And by "hobby", you mean the customers, correct?

Anyway, "customer is always right" is a bullshit customer service thing. Strip clubs aren't set out to maximize customer service, and neither are strippers because of the nature of the job. If they did the club and dancers would have to sit back and smile while customers walked on tabs, sexually assaulted the girls, etc....

Its adult entertainment drenched in alcohol..you can't apply the same rules as you do trying to return some ill fitting socks at Target.
