    Default Wireless Routers

Okay, another question for my super smart computer girls! LOL

I need to get a wireless router. Up until now, I have always used an ethernet cord but I am looking to split cam using 2 computers.

So I am looking at wireless modems and I see prices from $18-$837+!!!

What kind of router should I be looking for to make sure I am streaming as fast as possible???

    Thank you!!

    xx

    Wait wait wait what?

Why don't you just get a second webcam, connect it to the computer and use a software like WebCamMax to switch cams on the go? It's a MUCH cheaper solution, if you're camming in only one room, of course. Then again, if you're using your laptop, you have the flexibility of moving around the house.

I tried using a wireless router when I started and just had terrible results. It might be easier to slip in an extra ethernet cord (I did something like that).

    ^NICE

OK Ive done this a few times and it was ridiculously confusing but so worth it that I need to figure out a better system. But one computer was super slow while the other was performing way better - Im upgrading one computer and am excited to try again. Basically I support this!

A better solution would be to use one cam like a C910, or three of them in different positions, with a software like WebCamMax. This will allow you to switch cams on the go without having to use multiple computers (it's all in the same PC), and it'll also let you stream to multiple sites at the same time, using one single computer with its webcam.

Of course, you'd need a good computer with decent horsepower and a very good connection. But IMO this solution is MUCH easier and convenient than having to use 3 different computers.

    Just my opinion.

what about using a regular (wired) router and an extra ethernet cord? i'd think that would make the connection more stable

As others have posted, this can be addressed by additional cams and cables. However, if you're seriously considering a wireless router, if you want to steam HD video through it go for one that's 'Gigabit' rated like

I have a $50 wireless router from Wal-Mart, no complaints. On the side of the boxes it tells you what model to get for various internet speeds. If you have super fast internet, you will need a higher priced router.
