Duh So I was called cutthroat today... *slight vent*

First off let me say, I'm really a sweet person. Most dancers and people in general love me because I don't start shyt and I mind my business. I was sitting with Customer 1 earlier in the shift, he bought me a couple of drinks and him and his friend were supposed to be leaving. I went off to mingle.

I'm sitting in a bar stool about 3 seats down from a customer (Customer 2) and 2 seats down from another dancer. Her back is to me and so the customer has to look in my general direction to talk to her. He makes eye contact with me and I smile. THAT'S IT! JUST A SMILE. He smiles back and she turns around to see what he's smiling at then turns back around. She keeps trying to talk to him and I'm assuming he says something to her about me cause then she turns around and asks me my name (I've been at this club about a month) and I tell her. She says well he likes you and wants you to come over here. So I go over and she leaves. Me and Customer 2 have a couple of (ladies) drinks before we go do a few VIP dances.

Unknown to me, she has since been over to Customer 1 and tells him I'm cutthroat and stealing her customers. She then proceeded to take Customer 1's WASTEDDDDD friend into the private dance booth area. By the time me and Customer 2 are headed to the back she has already been back there. LO AND BEHOLD, What do I see? Her on her knees, head in his lap. After I came out of VIP customer 1 called me over and told me what she said about me & to watch my back.

I'm cut throat because I smile and u suck dick in VIP?

    All because of a smile.

.....Don't even worry about it. This is not one of those circumstances where maybe you should consider her side of it, or perhaps you were wrong afterall.

You're pretty, you gave him positive attention, even if it was as simple as a smile, and he liked you. Next thing you know, you're a little bit richer and it's been a good night.

Ideally, dancers don't take it personally when customers just aren't that interested in them, right? Because it's true; it doesn't mean anything is wrong with her....he just wanted you, and that's ok.

This girl obviously couldn't handle that you make money by just being pretty and nice, while she has to suck dick in the VIP. Don't worry about it.

If someone called me cut-throat, I'd consider it a compliment.

Sorry this is my pet peeve so consider my rant just another perspective. I've had girls BLATANTLY TRY to get my customers attention, but I'm usually able to turn the situation around.

Cut throat and having sex are both scandalous so I don't see how one is worse than the other. Covering up the fact that you took her customer (inadvertantly I hope) by saying she has sex in the VIP doesn't bode well with me.

If someone called me cut-throat, I'd consider it a compliment.
I read that as complaint, not compliment. Yes if someone called me cut throat I would take my future actions into consideration.

And if another dancer smiled at my customer while I was talking to him (especially behind my back), and he then inquired about her dances I would consider that cut throat.

Yes all it takes is a smile.

Basic etiquette when a custy smiles at you, and he's sitting with someone else give them the polite smile. Any smile other than polite is going to be misconstrued for the "you should be buying dances from me" smile.

If another girl's customer is into u that isnt ur fault. U must be doing something right. Honestly it was rude of her customer to seek u while sitting with her and thats prolly why she called u cut throat in an attempt to make u pay due to poor customer decisions. That guy shouldve at least dismissed himself from the presence of the other girl before making a move on u. That was actually the customer's lack of club etiquette IMHO.

    Oh, come on, really?!?

He looked at her and smiled, she smiled back. What was she supposed to do, flip him off? Sometimes a customer is just more attracted to one girl then another. It happens.

Being "cut throat" is when you come and sit on a custie's lap while there's another girl at his table, or the like. She didn't do anything wrong (according to the story posted above).

ETA: I have been on the other side of that, and it was fine. I've also had other girls come up to me and tell me a custie was asking about me. This happens all the time in strip clubs. If you saw some of the REAL cut-throat bs that sometimes happens on Bourbon St., you'd have a stroke.

The guy noticed her first, then smiled at her. How does that make her cut throat??

I didn't even know that smiling at someone who notices(& its obvious he likes what he's looking at)is considered cut throat. If the roles were reversed, I would not be offended at all. I find this ridiculous.

A very large part of stripper etiquette is knowing when to give it up to the other girl for having something you don't. I.e, manners.

Lol. For serious. I know some places that will make you slappabitch.

I've gotten cut throat where a girl hopped over to our couch(me and the customer) and sat right in between us. She then put her legs over his lap. I didn't do anything, bc I was about to get up and leave before she came anyway. The guy had no money, and couldn't speak English. All good. Lol. now that's cut throat!

    Thank you.

A man is in a strip club, and he sees a dancer he is more attracted to, and he would rather spend his money on her. Is going to say to himself "Oh, wait, that was a polite smile, not a come-have-dances-with-me smile. Note the subtle differentiation in her eyelid position and amount of teeth showing. I guess I should just spend my money on this girl I don't like as much."?

    I don't think so.

The Mona Lisa smile, polite smile? Lol. He may like that too.

There is no other way around it, with whatever smile. If he likes you, he likes you.

I already said what to do. Give them the polite smile.

We are supposed to be working together not against each other.

Most guys in strip clubs can't tell the difference between smiles, but you shut down their antics, i.e. them blowing off one dancer for another.

My fault for not adding that the customer lacked manners, and etiquette as well.

Depending on the situation, I have no issue when a customer asks for another dancer.

However I do have an issue with self centered and greedy dancers that will try or blatantly take money from another dancer.

They wouldn't like it if someone did it to them.

I didn't say SexyLyric did, I said dancers that do.

She may have been more attractive or not, it doesn't really matter because a guy will go in the VIP with whomever gives them the most attention if that's what he's into.

In my experience the girls that smile on purpose are the ones that have to try harder or aren't that attractive to begin with. Some think they're such hot shit that they don't have to take other people into consideration. Not saying that SexyLyric falls into either category, but like I said, all it takes is a smile and some dancers use it to their advantage even if it means stepping on another dancers toes or minding everyone elses business but their own.

Like I said it's my perspective on a situation that happens a lot, and I feel that type of behavior shouldn't be tolerated.

Again we all have to work together. Am I expected to give up my customers because someone else smiled at them?

That was the dancers mistake to let him get a dance from any one else while she was sitting there - and yes depending on the smile or level of attention given - it can be considered cut throat.

    In SexyLyric's situation...

All that other girl could've done was leave before it got to the point where he is checking other girls out. You can tell in a matter of seconds or a minute if a guy wants your company or not. I would've left and found a customer who wants my company instead. I feel like that girl wasted her time. A customer is entitled to spend his money on who he pleases.

OR the other girl could've done the "fake lesbian crush" towards SexyLyric and push a VIP sale for two girls. But instead, that girl decided to waste her own time and hate on someone else out of jealousy.

I think the customer was just trying to get rid of the other girl....if he is looking around and making eye contact and smiles with other dancers...he clearly isn't into who he is talking to. Could he of handled it differently, yes, but I don't really think its her fault or that she is cut-throat...

OP, don't worry about it. She sounds like a crazy bitch.

    thread:

can I just give out a pet peeve of my own?

he isn't YOUR customer. He is never YOUR customer. He is the BAR'S customer.

If he is there to see you, then that's great. If he came in specifically to see you, that's great. If he is in the bar and spending money on you, that's great. But guess what? He's not YOUR customer. He's the BAR'S customer and if everyone would get over this whole "my customer" "her customer" bullshit the stripping world would be a way better place!!!

if he likes you, regardless of who is smiling at him, touching him, talking to him or even flashing him he will pay attention to YOU and keep asking for YOU. If he is interested in another girl for WHATEVER REASON it's time to move on - without telling everyone about how YOUR customer got stolen etc.

..... also, part of our job is to create atmosphere, I can't imagine ignoring a customer who smiled at me, if he was sitting with another girl at the time I wouldn't encourage him further until it was appropriate.

Blow Job or not it was nice of the other girl to let the OP know the customer was into her, just a shame she felt it was necessary to bitch about it to other patrons.

One smile is not a big deal IMO.
Several smiles, body language designed to attract his attention specifically, Yes- big deal, constitutes an attempt to steal. On the other hand, if you win him over then he can't be stolen.

Does the OP still feel concerned over the situation?

I guess the other thing that I was thinking is that you have to develop a little thicker skin, girls will say shit from time to time, but you can't worry about it. I mean I just got back to dancing after having my baby and I had a few girls running around who are my "friends" telling customers that I dance for that I just had a baby! I love my son more than anything, but I know that this is a fantasy killer for some customers and I don't bring him or my two daughters into the conversation. Sometimes girls will do and say things to mess with you and your money...don't sweat it...just keep moving!

I've worked with the chick twice since this happened. The crazy part about this whole thing was that she had a regular customer/friend whatever that came in the club one day & they were together awhile, left the club together, came back & everything...a little after they came back he motioned for me to come over so I did. He liked my look & he had came back with a friend. The girl & me danced for him & the friend together & they were talkin about me (my face, body, etc.) while I was there & she was complimenting me. So now I didn't think we were BFFs after that but I def thought we were cool which is why I was thrown for a loop that day she was talking shyt. Since then I have just kept my distance from her & "her" customers. I'm not the type of person who likes being involved in drama & me being the "new girl" in the club, I'm just there to make my money & get the hell outta that city.

But I gave him a courteous smile. No come hither looks, pouty looks. Nothing. Just a genuine smile. I don't see how anything I could have done other than blatantly ignore him where that woulda worked out differently. I "felt" that he was interested in me but I had just got off stage & was making my rounds to say thank you. She was sitting him with when I got off stage so I didn't even stop by. So she was petty.

If they are well paying customers who want your company, I wouldn't stay away just to keep some crazy bitch happy. Fuck that. You're not there to please anyone either. It's not your fault she doesn't get it. She's jealous and should focus on her own game and targets. Sheesh.
