I've met several deaf guys in clubs over the years. I've never lied about how many songs I danced nor have I heard about coworkers doing that but I also can't say that I'm surprised that a bad apple did so. I would specifically request your dancer to notify you of the end/beginning of each song (and hope she's telling the truth). Either that or find a club that has machines in the dance booths that you have to put $ into for each individual song (well, increment of time would be more accurate) and you can tell when your time is up because the light changes and you have to put more $ in if you want to continue dancing.

Bring a watch/stpwatch. Discuss your concerns with the dancer and agree to a rate per ... say 4 minutes (most songs are cut to 3:30). Just an idea

They don't have clubs with those type of dance machines in Texas, at least none that I've ever known of, that seems to be more of a California thing.

To the OP, sorry to hear you got screwed over...there will be merciless hustlers who will try and take advantage of the disabled, the drunk, etc, as well.

One thing you can do...if you're not in an area that's toooo private..is to observe girls getting on and off the stage..or girls around you doing lapdances and stopping. That usually indicates end of a song.

I have danced for MANY deaf customers. I have never lied to the customer about song numbers. But, most likely the girl that did that to you says the same thing to the customers that can hear.
