    Skull Favorite Movie Villains

As some could guess by my posting habits, I like playing the villain. What are your favorite villains from a movie? No specific number, just the ones you like. Mine?

    1. Anton Chigurh - No Country for Old Men 2007 - Javier Bardem
    2. Frank - Once Upon a Time in the West 1968 - Henry Fonda
    3. The Wicked Witch of the West - The Wizard of Oz 1939 - Margaret Hamilton
    4. Freddy Krueger - A Nightmare on Elm Street 1984 - Robert Englund
    5. Nurse Ratched - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 1975 - Louise Fletcher

For a villain to be truely great, he or she needs to be powerful, ruthless, and brilliant. Anton Chigurh came on the screen as the epitome of this. Neither him nor Freddy Kruger would I want to be stuck in a room with. But at least if I can get out of the room, or wake up, I can escape Freddy. Chigurh will always get you, soon or later.

It can also be bad if they're likable, like Freddy. He's evil, but the laughter sickly draws you closer. Or if they're an absolute, unforgiving asshole, like Frank, you can't help but despise him, yet he's there. Or just a unmovable power of authority, like Ratchet - every punk's true enemy. Poor, poor McMurphy. Or if you secretly desire them, like the Wicked Witch of the West. Here was this powerful Hell-bent woman whose ruthless, destructive determination was ultimately seductive. At least, I was always troubled as a child by that bitch.

So there's mine. Which villains do you secretly love?

Jonh Doe (Kevin Spacey) from SEVEN... He took sining to the extreme

Mick Taylor (John Jarrat) from WOLF CREEK... its an aussie film but if you have not seen it beware... i seriously wish I never watched it

Samara from THE RING ( that crazy child that climbs out of your TV and kills you )

Alan Rickman makes the best movie villain ever. Severus Snape, the sheriff of Nottingham, the bad guy from Die Hard. The bad guy from the Clive Owen version of King Arthur was fucking awesome too, because of lines like this "Are you challenging me? If you're challenging me, you have to have a sword in your hand. While my heart beats, I rule and you hold your tongue... or I'll cut it out. "
"Well done. Here are the test results: You are a horrible person. I'm serious, that's what it says: 'A horrible person.' We weren't even testing for that."

The Duke of Zill from the Felix the cat movie. I had such a crush on this guy for my entire childhood.

My sister gave me a hard time about it because he has no face. But I'm like, a body like that, who needs a face?

I personally think Robert Mitchum was more convincing in the original Cape Fear make.

For some reason, I'm drawn to reading about villains who do dastardly things but never seem to get their hands dirty.

    There's:

    Hilly Holbrook in The Help

    Kathryn Merteuil in Cruel Intentions

Then there are those villains that do what they do and have no problems getting their hands dirty.

If I remember correctly, he wasn't the dad. They were brother and sister, and the girl was someone they kidnapped.

^^ Yes, you're correct - he wasn't their biological father, but he was their foster father. They were a brother and sister who kept adopting kids in pursuit of the "perfect child". Whenever a child would misbehave, they would chop off the offending body part (i.e. if a kid talked back, he'd chop of the tongue) and keep them in the basement under the stairs.

Even though he wasn't technically anyone's real father, I always thought of him as "the dad".

Edit: I guess "foster father" makes it sound like they acquired these kids legally, but I think you're right about them stealing the children. In any case, they were trying to raise the kids in their own demented way, which is why I think of him as a dad. I'm pretty sure he even makes the ones who can still talk (like A.J. Langer's character, the main girl in the movie) call him "Daddy".
