Default new wanting to try but very nervous

so this will sound corny I know and I hope it does not come off as insulting cause I don't mean it in that kind of way at all.

I have come to a point in my life where I am gettting really desperate to get out there and make money again. I am a college student going to school to be a vet tech. I really enjoy what I do, and would love to gain work experince in the field I want to work in. But the economy is just doing so poorly now. And I hardly have any work experince on my resume.

my family doesn't really agree with it but I am interested in looking at doing striping as an option. I have a nice figure and I am not ashamed to show it off on a stage. I do burlesque shows in my spare time as well and totally love it and think striping could be just as fun.

The major things that I wonder is can you work at strip clubs with wigs, and I know you can and usual do go under aliases I want to make sure if I did do this I could have some sense of privacy that would not fault me while I was going to school.

At this point I am just wanting to do as much research on the matter as I can so might be a lurker for a while and may look into the idea of picking this up as hobby to do on the side. Really not sure.

lol I hope I did not strike anyone as being rude.

Welcome around! It's definitely possible to maintain privacy while you're dancing, but it can be risky depending on your situation. Wigs and make up and stage names can make a huge difference, but it's still possible for people to come into the club and recognize you. I danced while in college and made sure to avoid working at the club(s) that college kids tended to frequent to minimize that. I also stuck with the day and evening shifts for that reason.

Stripping can be a great way to make some cash in less time than just about any other job available to a college student. Perhaps you could even find yourself an internship, maybe once a week or so, if you find dancing is profitable enough to allow for that unpaid time. Otherwise, while stripping is great for making money, it certainly isn't going to help you get resume building job experience.

I just thought I would come back in and up date those interested lol not sure...I certainly am interested in the idea of trying this on for size it might take a lil while for me to do. Since I am moving in with my mother now and she is a little too old fashioned to be completlyo ok with the idea. So my plan as of now is to learn as much as I can by observing and try it on for size so to speak when I can get my own apartment that way I can get back in at any point in the day and not be completly harassed about where all I have been.

The clubs that I have gone to seem very nice and out going which is a good thing. I have even started reading books about striping and that seems to be informative. The one i am currently reading is called Candy Girl. What I am curious about is do most clubs work on the same basis's with the whole paying the house fees? I noticed that....in this novel and I have heard other people say things along those lines also.
but the whole you have to do so many lap dances per guy...hmm I just wonder if this is a true thing for most all places or I know of course it will vary from place to place but just wondering none the less.

^ Every club is different in terms of dance sales, house fees, tip out etc, but in general, you can expect there to be a house fee for every night you work, perhaps a % or amount taken out of each dance you sell, and then you'll have to tip the DJ and housemom at the end of the night.

If people finding out is something that worries you, definitely dance a bit further away from your school. And remember that some clubs require you to get a license, which might show up on your record later with future employers, and some might also give you tax paperwork which could be traceable later too.

would the easiest way to figure out if a club asks or a licensee be to just ask? I am un sure but I get the impression from the ones in Columbia MO they don't do that...but I am still figuring out just how stuff works.

Yup, when you get to the point of being ready to start auditioning and you call to see when auditions are, what to wear etc, just ask if you need a dancers license or anything. And at the audition, if they ask for your SSN, that would be a good time to ask if they issue 1099's for taxes.

For my club the earlier you get in the less you have to pay. After 6PM it's $40 regardless of how late you get in; it's also $40 if you don't pay when you get in but instead wait to pay after your shift. I got sick before I had to come in again so I haven't tipped my DJ yet but I'm hoping $10 will be alright and then there is also a bouncer who escorts us to our cars so I'm going to tip him too.

I hope things go well for you hun c:

its something that I really have taken an interest in learning and honestly think I would have a lot of fun at. And weirdly my mother almost seems to have had a change of heart about things.....I don't think she'll ever be completely ok with me doing it but in the long run she wants me to be safe so using an alias, and wearing wigs so I don't look as recognizable which I am VERY, VERY much ok with. And I do other things in my real life anyway such as Drag Shows (King), Burlesque, and getting into modeling, dancing and singing as well. Which oddly all of which I am working hard at.....so I feel honestly very well rounded.

I do think this will all just take time for me to ease into I really want to improve my pole and floor work before auditioning

Online pole dictionary is a good resource although it doesn't outline the moves step by step. Youtube is an invaluable resource for both floor and pole moves. Best of luck!

so the newest development for me for now is that I am trying to build up the nerve to actually go in and do audition some time soon. I know places at least in st.louis that do offer classes on pole dancing I have meet some of the girls at the club I am interested in trying out for and I am going to ask them if they might be able to help me learn basic stuff.

lol since I do dance, burlesque and drag already I practice dancing around my apartment fairly often as well so I tried some of the "floor work"moves and did suprisee myself that I can do such pretty well. But I still think I need to work my flexibility....I need to get in the habbit of just working out more often as well I think but at least I am setting small attainable goals for myself thats probably a very good start for me since I am horrible at things like that most other times.

^^ remember that everyone was new once and the majority of girls have ZERO dance/pole experience. Don't feel like you necessarily HAVE to take pole classes or anything before you can go audition. If you're aiming to start at a really "top" club or you want to do it for your own confidence, that's awesome, but just don't stress that you can't audition til you've learned pole tricks. And with things like flexibility, a lot of that will come with dancing at the club anyway, without even noticing it, you'll get more flexible and toned etc, just by doing your stage routines.

I am planning on going into one of the clubs in town in about a month or so for an audtion.....I should be getting a new wig by then and i really want to use one when I preform.

But I am really looking forward to getting prepared for everything. And i think stuff should go really great, I really confident I can do this and have fun doing so also.

You should check with your doctor to change your dosage if your anxiety flares up. There is so much going on in a club from randomly groping hands to erratic/aggressive behavior from the other girls, and management. These things can send you flying off kilter. Be gentle with yourself and take your time easing into this new environment.
