    Default Shoes? Ankles not strong! Please help!

    I start my first night dancing really soon, and I'm confident that I've got everything down, for except one thing...MY SHOES! I'm an extremely small framed woman, and my ankles just don't have what it takes to keep myself from toppling over! They're only five inches to start with (stiletto boots, starting off with the only thing I can afford right now). Are there any exercises that I should add to my workout to build my leg muscles and balance? I already run and walk a few miles a day, but it hasn't seemed to help :/ suggestions? Thanks, I appreciate it!

    And on a side note, I don't have access (or can afford) gyms or equipment.

    I think the only thing that will help you is working and walking in them. Eventually you'll be running and jumping in them no problem!
    Also when you do get some money you may want to get some backless shoes. If you trip in backless shoes then your foot will just fall out of the shoe and your ankle wont get twisted.

    This actually sounds like a balance issue. Your center of gravity is thrusted forward when wearing heels. Try to distribute your weight over your entire heel, instead of just the toe portion.

    As mentioned before, practice makes perfect!

    When I started dancing, someone told me to vacuum in my stripper heels. Something about the way move around and shift your weight back and forwards as you do it is supposed to help you get used to balancing in the heels much quicker. It worked for me!
