Default Keep the act with other dancers

After reading some of the advice of others, I am sketchy to provide anyone any kind of info on me, including other dancers. I know they are just trying to be nice and help me feel relaxed, but when another dancer asks your name do you give them your stage name or real. So far I feel like I am in the witness protection program; no one knows my name, city I am from or anything else... Am I being paranoid? living this double life is already getting confusing as crap sometimes... Where do you draw the line?

I always introduce myself to other dancers as my stage name since I'll only see most of them at the club I don't see the point in telling them my real name.

I keep alot of my personal infromation like phone number, etc to myself unless one of the other dancers becomes a good friend, but I would never give any kind of personal info to a customer.

I don't think you're being paranoid, you're just concerned for your saftey which I think is a good thing. As you do this job more it will become less confusing and more like second nature.

Use your stage name. Don't get too chatty. If someone asks you a question, answer it as simply as possible (it's okay to be vague).

Stage name. You don't want her to call out your real name on the floor.

Stage name until you are actually seeing each other OTC. A phone dedicated to business only, customeer numbers, dancer numbers, management numbers.

Thanks, these are all great points. I have not told any one my real name or any real info... Funny enough, no one really asks either.

We're all in this together, and there are many other girls you're working with who may be hiding it from various people in their lives. Other dancers and staff are cognizant of that fact, so they tend to not press for personal identifying information. If they do and you're uncomfortable saying you don't want to reply, you can always come up with a fake backstory for dancers as well. Hell, it can be the same one you tell your customers too, just to keep some consistency for yourself!

Yeah be really careful. In my first club I told some girls which uni I went to, when I'd normally have said a different one. Some guys from my uni but the year below came in, and I didn't know them but these girls got chatting to them and shouted 'you go to that uni? marie goes there!!!' godammit. At least the bought dances

I don't share any personal info with anyone from the club (including all dancers, staff, and of course custies) unless they happen to be someone I know and trust from outside the club. Even if I do happen to be working with a friend I've known since before working in the club together (which has happened), I make sure to only address her by her stage name when we're at work - even if I think we're the only two people within earshot. When you are at work, your stage name IS your name. There's no reason for anyone to call you anything else.

I don't even want to know any of the other dancers' real names or personal info. None of that stuff matters when you're in the club. You're in fantasy lala-land, and your RL persona doesn't need to have anything to do with it. I've never been asked my real name by other dancers, and if someone was asking me for personal info and got offended when I didn't reveal it, I would have major suspicions about that person's motivations.

Definitely keep your details to yourself. I learnt this the hard way with a few clueless dancers blabbing my real name and hometown (which is very small) to customers. Pretty much all the info they need to track me down if they are keen enough to do so, and some have.
The worst situation was when an idiotic dancer gave my number to a creepy regular who then plagued me until I had to get a restraining order against him.

^ OMG!!!! Someone gave your number to a custie w/o your permission?!? That is an unforgivable transgression. How could anyone think that's okay?!? Unless she was being mean on purpose?

I won't even give my (RL) friends' phone numbers to other friends without first getting permission from that person. You just don't do it.
AND telling people your real name and home town?? What is wrong with these people?

Nobody should know your real name except the manager, and then only if he/she insists on it and promises to keep it confidential. Imagine this scenario: Creepy Joe the Stalker sees you and finds you attractive. He approaches the doorman and says, "I'll top you a hundred bucks for [Your stage name]'s real name and phone number. Do you trust the doorman, or another dancer, or a waitress, or the bartender to not reveal that information? So don't give it out to anyone.

If your lucky enough to be working in a bigger town/city and can keep who you are and ur private life private do it. I know a couple ladies who worked in the town they grew up in, and its not a huge town, so this was difficult to do with staff and some of the regs that came in that had lived in that town for years.
