Thumbs up How to survive slow times!

In these last few days every time I come here or anywhere else, I read that it's slow. Girls are complaining everywhere and the tension, frustration shows even in CC. For lots of reasons there are slow times for everyone (I think everyone, maybe this doesn't apply to toptoptop models, I don't know), there are slow times on every site. Slow times happen for lots and lots of reasons but they are frustrating and draining whatever the reasons are. So, what can we do to stay positive and maybe earn more?

    - If it's very slow on your site, why not try out different ones? I'm not saying abandon your site and lose all your awesome regulars, I'm just saying that maybe you could try working on other sites for a few hours per day, the change will do you good and maybe you'll find a goldmine somewhere. Yes, you could even try the sites others don't like - maybe they will work for you! I've found some goldmines like that recently.

    - It's hard to stay positive when you have bills to pay and you earned a grand total of $5 today but it can't hurt to try! Use the power of BUT. When you think a negative thought, it can work wonders. Like "I suck at this, I can't make money" and here comes the BUT ..."but I'll try this and that and that will help me earn more". "I won't be able to pay my bills at this rate, it's ridiculous, BUT I'll work 3 more hours today and will make that money". You see how this works, you always put that "but" there and that's it.

    - Ask yourself, are you really doing enough to earn a good living? You probably can't earn thousands a week by working 1-2 hours per day. This has been said numerous times but it's true: this is a job, if you look at it as a job, you'll make a living, and a good one at that, if you look at it as a hobby, you'll make pocket money (which can be still nice, depending on your goals)

    - Look into content providing - Maybe you could start doing videos. If you're already doing videos, you could research and maybe find some other sites to put videos on, make all kinds of content, maybe look into it and start your own membership site. You can do fetish videos, vanilla videos, have some great ideas and bank on clip sites.

    - Try marketing, affiliate programs. If you're really fed up with camming and want some in-your-sleep money, why not market someone else's work with affiliate marketing? You can advertise so many different things, just look into it and try marketing something that you like. Or you could try marketing your own brand and get a higher percentage on sites like SM. Social media is great for marketing and maybe you'll find that you like this kind of work!

    - If it's really slow and you want a break from the computer, read sales, psychology, marketing books! They are obviously not about our jobs but the majority of tips and tricks are more than applicable. You get a little break while you read and come back with great knowledge about selling a show, keeping a customer, and so forth. I also listen to audiobooks from Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins, because I like to stay motivated and learn in the process.

    - Find something that motivates you to stay on cam more. I like motivational quotes, motivational books. I have a word document on my desktop with my favourite quotes and I read those when I don't want to be on cam.

I'm just the one who started this thread, now it's your turn Come and write your awesome survival strategies and ways that keep you motivated in this thread!

Many good ideas, Claudia! My strategies include content/goods sales, having a few back up sites to pick me up, and if nothing else works... a good book, a nap, and a snuggle with one of my cats Sometimes you just need to take a break and breathe. Guys pick up on it when you're in a bad mood too.

I completely agree! A lot of it has to do with what you are thinking.... work yourself up before you go on! Look in the mirror into your eyes and tell yourself how beautiful you are, tell yourself you are worthy and deserving of money, tell yourself that money is always abundant, tell yourself that you can achieve anything, and the big one tell yourself "I Love You" . I cannot put into words how much this stuff truly helps. Put up little affirmations at your work station, or around your room to remind you that you are worthy of abundance. For every negative thought that goes into your mind replace it with a positive thought immediately, it will be a struggle at first but the trick is to train your mind to think positively about yourself at all times. Positivity attracts abundance, negativity attracts negative results. You get back what you put out.

Listen to Esther Hicks on YouTube. Read the Secret and similar books. Remain completely positive on the cam, no matter what.

Experiment with different sites and different looks. Love this! I'm surprused it hasn't been that popular.

Anyone who has Netflix, The Secret is on instant stream. I like to put it on when I get ready in the mornings. Or, if you have less time, hit up the short motivational speeches on YouTube. I always get frustrated before I get on MFC because it's so unreliable and annoying at times, but at the same time sooo capable of huge, huge bucks that I want. I'm telling you, I envision rich men throwing tokens at me and believe it before I go on cam. I ended up making the kinda low goal I had for myself. So, I'm making an even bigger goal tomorrow morning! Envision yourself living the life you want and enjoying your job, if you believe it enough it will happen.

You guys can watch it from one of the links on here for free: http://www.1channel.ch/watch-4763-The-Secret

I use that site to watch just about everything, they pretty much have every tv show and movie you could think of.

I have watched this on Netflix twice in the past week! Such good advice. And yeah, a positive attitude can improve a bad situation, but a negative attitude just makes any situation much worse....that said, I do think it's nice to know when there's a trend of guys cutting back their spending. It's good to know it's not just me, and that actually helps me feel MORE positive and optimistic!!! Also, this is why it's important to approach camming as a real job and put in the hours if you want it to pay like a real job. The past week has sorta sucked, but since I didn't log off the week prior as soon as I reached my daily goals, I'm still on target for my monthly goal.

Great ideas, ladies! I read the Secret too from time to time, Louis Hay too. (I can't believe I forgot to mention her, she's one of my favourites, her books helped me in really tough times).
I have another strategy I forgot to include in my prev post: I have a folder called 2012, another folder in it called January and I have a seperate document for every day of the month (I'm incredibly disorganized so I have to push and discipline myself to be more organized). Every evening I write down my goals for the next day in the appropriate file and read through the previous file so I can summarize my day - have I reached my goals; have I surpassed my goals/why, what did I do differently; if I didn't reach my goals - why not, what could've been done differently, where did I go wrong and I write these things in the file. This may sound anal, and it is, but it helps me enormously - I mean actors, athletes, businesses, everyone analyze their own performances somehow so they can see what are the areas that need to improve and if you know what needs improvement, you can concentrate on that area; if you see what works, you can concentrate on that...I read through November files and I'm amazed how much more I earn, how many things I learned, how much I improved in every way - and this is a tangible proof that what I do is worth doing.

Yet another thing: my BFF made this as a nice present for me because I had to work 12-14 hours per day one week to reach my goals; but I use it ever since. It's a handmade calendar, with two pages for every day of the week. Every page contains encouraging words, jokes, "I believe in you" "you can do this" kind of things, photos; pictures of my goals, money, gold; funny cute animal photos, basically anything that can get me through a long, hard day. Every day before I turn on my cam, I open it to that day's page and it motivates me so much! You can do this too, or without the calendar, only the photos, pictures of your goals, somewhere you can see them all the time.

I also recently done Brian Tracy's Goalsetting stuff, it was incredibly useful, especially now in January. It's an audiobook and a workbook, lots of work but it's worth it.

I'm very glad if I can give encouragement to anyone, I went through tough things and there were times I really needed encouragement too. That's when I learned that you only have two choices in tough situations: you can sit down, whine, feel sorry for yourself, blame everyone and everything and die (because if you do this, you WILL die, maybe not physically, but that's not the worst kind of death); or you get yourself together, draw your conclusions, go on and never look back. I always chose the latter and I sure won't let a few slow days discourage me

Thanks so much for this Claudia! Everyone else has already said it better than I could, so the only thing I can add is that I look at my goals board to keep me working through it whenever I wanna quit. I got the idea from Sam38G. It's just a bunch of pictures I printed off the internet of things that motivate me to try to earn more money and work harder, and I hang it where I can see it when I'm camming. For mine, they're mostly about places my bf and I want to travel and things we'd like to see, some for the first time and some again, like China, Iceland, Glacier National Park, etc. But you can pick anything at all that might motivate you. This is mine:

CW raised an important point a few weeks back in a thread about burn-out...we're in a job sector that fluctuates by definition, there will always be less than stellar days/weeks but the key is to save as much $$$$ as we can when we're banking, which thankfully is much more frequent
Along with long term savings, I find it helps to have a little seperate short term fund set aside to cover inevitable lulls in traffic and customers, or for when life throws us a curve and we need to take a mini-break for whatever reason. That way, we're never desperate, and we never feel like we actually NEED the guys who message us/enter our rooms. Never spend like the best days/weeks are the norm, even when they are, and the stress of this job is dramatically reduced
    peace and $$$$

So true, Loveshooks! I listened to Dave Ramsey a lot and did the whole Baby Emergency Fund - Emergency Fund, etc. thing. I also found some good budgeting tools for self employed on the internet. I don't agree with everything Dave says but he does give good advice. Financial literacy is a HUGE part of being a successful self employed. Nothing worse than doing adult work when you're desperate for cash. Been there, done that...Fast track to being bitter, man-hating and self-hating. That's why it's very important to budget!

The other day I was feeling a bit sluggish and off my game, so I took a break and threw on Chicago 'when you're good to mama' never fails to get me in the right mood. I haven't been able to really get my head around The Secret and similar books but I think I should start giving them a read- from the sound of it, they've really helped out the rest of you ladies. I've been working on setting myself higher daily goals and Im finding it's been getting easier to reach them. I keep an old criminology textbook within eyesight - helps me remember what I'm aiming for. what I've always tried to remember if I'm having a crappy day is the times when I was a waitress - waitresses dream of that one big break. Kind of like in that movie where the guy wins the lottery and remembers his favorite waitress. I want to be that waitress, dammit!

Thanks for the Tips..I know slow times can be frustrating but when that happens I find another site to sign up for. I try to focus my attention between the sites by chatting with the customers or playing music to make me happy. Even though I only work 20hours a. week I wish I could work more. Those hours beat having to stand all day at a real job. It also allows me to be flexible in my schedule..I get to meet new people though some are liars..but I also like the fact it gives me a chance to workout instead of going to a gym. Bouncing up and down really has toned my legs! Lol

I'm so excited to put these trips into play. Not only will I be listening and reading some motivational material..I really, really want to try to out the yearly folder that gets broken into months and days. This would help me out so much....so thank you!!!

I tend to hype myself up in the shower. As I'm shaving and washing my hair I tell myself how hot I am and how great I'm going to do that day on cam. That anyone would be lucky to spend time with me. May sound silly to someone else, but it does wonders for me.
