Personally, I find these type of questions extremely invasive especially if they are the very first ones to be asked.

If I was to be asked...? To get to a term..? Power be to who?

Of all the questions customers trend towards asking, I think these are the most innocuous. Never bothered me.

I get asked this nonstop -I don't mind it. But I've been told that I'm racial ambiguous, so there ya are. I do find it humorous though, explaining to people the difference of ethnicity, nationality, & where one is from (locationwise). Debating is a small joy of mine.![]()

I promise not to ask those questions if you promise not to ask me what I do for a living or if it's my first time in the club.....k?
If you start with the ? There is no need for nervous with the answer.

I personally don't mind being asked what my nationality is. I love telling people I am Mexican and hearing/seeing stupid responses on their faces.

Yeah, this doesn't bother me either. Means I look like some questionable exotic looking hottie.
I had a guy ask me where I was from one night, and when I told him I was from Arkansas, he jumped down my throat, calling me a liar, saying I was making it up for my "stripper story," etc. I was like, "Dude, if I was going to make up some epic stripper story, the last place I would say I was from would be Arkansas...I'd say I was a fucking Valkyrie from Valhalla."

I'm also curious as to why this particular question seems so "extremely invasive" to the OP? For someone that is ethnic I would have that you would be used to it or understand why your being asked....![]()

If anything, as a customer, I get asked this within the first 5 minutes (usually after the 'is this your first time here' Q & A). In fact, during a LD, I was once told I speak English really, really well. I told her thanks since it's the only language I speak. Sigh...

Ya this doesn't bother me... "where do you live?" is more invasive... If you feel its too personal why not just make up an answer...

Jay, some guys simply feel the need to make some type of connection before they spend money on a girl. If she has an exotic look, or an accent, etc., it is a very natural first or second question IMHO. IDK, but I've always thought of it as very safe territory vs. questions relating to kids, marital status, etc.

A lot of the guys who ask this question are either genuinely curious or are looking to impress the girl with his knowledge of her region of origin. They're generally not looking to make her feel bad about being "different," a difference which is usually considered "exotic" in the context of the strip club anyway.
I love hearing this question early on because it means they think I am some kind of race they fetishize.
My answer: "Guess!"
Them: "Uhh, half-Asian?"/"Spanish?"/"Russian?"/"Irish?"
Me: "WOW! Haha, you're right! That and __[insert 1 other sexy nationality]__. You have a great eye for women, hee hee!"

i work with a girl that does this with a super blunt/bitchy delivery just because she's so tired of being asked incessantly and it cracks me up.
she'll be like "mexican. looking sexy with my lawnmower all up on your lawn"
in the customers defense she does look super exotic and like she could be polynesian or hawaiian.

^ I love that!!! I'm Mexcian and they're hated on up here in Wisconsin so when I say my nationality, I never know what to say after so I try to change the subject.. but that's golden! I'm a goof ball so it'll fit right in with my personality![]()

Actually I never ask a dancer questions, I let them lead the conversation since I find that to be a good way to see how comfortable they are with themselves and the environment. Still, I think "where are you from" is a lot less invasive than "Does your family know what you do?", "Does your boyfriend know what you do?" or "What's your real name?"

i get asked this every night and if the op is like me, i can understand why it is obnoxious because usually the reply to the answer given is rude.
i lie about everything while i'm working so if you think i'm half mexican, puerto rican, russian, japanese, i will agree with you and let you feel pleased with your pseudo-worldliness.
the offensive part is that it is inherently assumed that because i'm really, really good-looking, i must be not all black. and being that i'm an african immigrant, THAT is what's annoying. the "oh, the filipino half of you must be why you're so pretty" and yes, this gets said ALL the time.
but again, nothing in a strip club need ever be taken personally. so learning to write off idiotic shit is just part of putting on your stripper heels.
