Default question about external cam on Mac with MFC

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to make my external logitech cam work on my Mac. I read in one of the stickys that you have to open something like photobooth and keep it open while logging on to MFC and that eventually it would recognize the camera and make it an option under camera settings but when I've this it never recognized an external camera. What do I do?

I have the logitech that's made to be mac compatible now and it works great. Before I just had the windows logitech and it would never open on photo book for me to even preview, but it did open in iChat. See if it works in those, if it does it should be able to be used like any other plug and play webcam, all though missing the control panel to change settings. Leaving another program open that's reading the cam, and trying to open your cam on mfc won't work if im not mistaken. Just FYI though, i don't know if it's the webcam, or my pc or what, but whenever i used the logitech that was made to just be windows compatible, the drivers would blow out like within weeks.

We use c910's here without an issue, on SM and MFC. That being said, you can use something like manycam and kinda hack it together. Select your camera as the source in many cam, and then in the flash settings (right click on the window where your video should be and click settings) make sure many cam is selected. You do not have to have photobooth or ichat or anything else open for that setup. If you don't then xfatrabbitx is right, you can't have more then one program pull video from your camera, so doing what the sticky says about photobooth is just impossible.
