    Default My EAR! :[

    I'm gonna lose the ear ya'll - I swear.

I've been going back and forth to the doctor's for about two months now for what we all thought was swimmers ear and a chronic q-tip addiction? It was infected twice, (meds...came back...meds....came back again...more meds) I played the anti-biotics russian roulette game and got rounds of that and now no more pain but I have intense ear pressure that will not go away.

I went into the doctor again for a 4th time, she checked me out and said it's not infected anymore. But that the tube? ear canal? pathway to my ear drum...(lol) is swollen...she gave me some cortizone and to take it everyday. Maybe I'm jumping the gun here but it doesn't feel like it's helping.

And this ear pressure, ear popping and ringing is driving me mad. It is INTENSE. I am hyper-annoyed with life and miserable and I just want to sleep it away to forget about it.

Nothing hurts. No throbbing, pain or anything. No discharge. Just...pressure. Like driving through the mountains when the ear pressure changes with the height...and your ears pop? Only this is constant 24/7. It's muffled, like a seashell, or a cotton ball has been stuffed in my ear. I can still hear out of it. And it's not a huge hearing loss...and it hasn't progressed or gotten hugely worse over the last two months. But it's definitely sucked. And I think the constant feeling is making me go out of my mind and feel like it's worse? If that makes sense.

There is like drip-gunk in the back of my throat that I can never get up and I always wake up with my nose stuffed lately...could it be sinus' too?

I don't normally ask opinions or for someone to try to help self-diagnose me but I am about ready to fire my doctor - my co-pay's at $85 are killing my wallet and from what she's been giving me it is only a temporary solution to this long-going issue. I mean the infection is gone but this ear pressure is nuts. She says the ear drum looks fine, just the canal is swollen. But I don't know anymore. Ugh.

So, that said has anyone had something like this? Can over the counter meds help it? Do I try filling my ear up with cortizone? Do I suffer for the rest of my life? Lol. Or just any tips to help the pressure? I've tried gum, steam, warm water...sleeping for 16 hours...haha. Nuthin'.

    Please help :[

Honestly, I would suggest seeing an Eye, Ear, & Throat specialist. I had ear infections as a kid, & to this day, if I go out in even not super cold weather without covering my head, it's a given I will then get a serious cold. Different than what you're experiencing, but all 3 areas seem inter-related, & maybe the infection's going to your sinus/throat?
The book I always suggest is The Natural Remedy Book for Women, by Diane Stein. It doesn't have your specific situation in there, but there's lots of helpful sections on vitamins, herbs, etc.
    Good luck.
