OMG, thank you so much!! I'm planning a US tour sometime this summer and I don't know anything about the US scene and legalities yet, so this is incredibly helpful!
Thanks girl, very helpful!!!
Great articles! Thanks so much
I wanted to add that some of the cartoons in the articles are from http://www.lawcollective.org/ - which is a fantastic website because it breaks down (US) law and rights in comic book form really really well. It addresses some super useful stuff like I know Ive been told the below multiple times and believed it for ages:

Given there have been many many many cases of officers or private investigators having sex with escorts prior to busting them it is a complete myth... For example, ganked from the site: "It’s perfectly legal for undercover officers and informants to engage in criminal activity to protect their cover. Undercover officers find it a particularly useful tactic to mention that they're worried about the police, occassionally asking the suspect whether he's a cop—the ol' switcheroo. Most people are surprised to learn that law enforcement agents can, as part of their job, lie and engage in criminal activity. It seems unfair that the police don't have to live up to the same standards that they're enforcing. However, a great deal of police investigation operates on the basis that the end justifies the means—a flawed rationale, particularly in the context of maintaining a just legal system. Crooked tools build a crooked structure."
Highly recommended reading in general - http://www.lawcollective.org/
Thanks for posting this!

In my area 20 years ago that was the norm - getting sex / blow job then busting - sorta like a perk of working the vice dept - after many many years ,complaints, and policy changes it is much more straight forward now - although about a year ago a lady had an undercover officer come to her house - long story short - he threatened arrest unless she had sex with him - she did then he gave her a citation - unlucky for him he left his used condom and she took it and used it as evidence to file a complaint -in a legit set up here they record everything and use that in court
If she's an escort, then the sex was a decision, not inclusive therefore not illegal. The most they can get you for is escorting without a license in which case why are we wasting tax dollars on these operations? If she's a prostitute then, without the money it's not consensual in my opinion. Allowing a cop to commit a violent crime to stop a victimless crime is counterproductive to anyone with half a brain and just flat out wrong to anyone with a conscience!
Bitch? Actually I'm an evil cunt. Slut? Try dirty little whore. Either way, you have to pay for it.

Yes Kalypso you are correct - it is disguisting - but actually I think things are much better today than they were years ago - Before the internet and cell phones the options for women in adult entertainment were very different - the good ol boys network ruled these types of industries - the cops/politicians got complimentary services from the locals to leave them alone or they had to pay them off to stay open- most of the clubs /escorts services were run by men - women owned business seemed to be the 'houses"- the actual licensing of agencies didnt come around untill the 90's (correct me if anyone knows of earlier) - the reason for that was TAX INCOME and an attempt to get the serious criminals out of the industry -I think the cops and politicians are more accountable now than in the past -information is more available to the public and it is harder to sweep stuff under the rug - as shitty as things may seem now it is still better for women in this industry than it was years ago -

In AZ The police commonly bust women for escorting without a license or offering massage without a license. All you have to
do is mention either of these words in your adverts. great site if traveling through AZ

True

truebebeblue - thanks for sharing that - very useful information -- my friend had a similar charge for " possesion of a vibrator" lol -- they charged her with prostitution and the evidence they presented was a picture of a vibrator on the hotel bed -- she was licensed and working for an agency --- the agency fought it all the way to a higher court for her challenging the ordinance - and they won for her --
