Dizzy Think I have staph -- freaking out.

So two weeks ago this girl tells me that she had gotten a staph infection at work several months ago and had to take off for a few weeks.

A week ago I got a pimple on my butt -- a big one. And it didn't go away and became super red and full of fluid. I'm exhasuted, sleeping 12 hours a night, and have been having a lot of mental problems this week. I just don't feel right. So I scheduled a doctor's appt. for tomorrow.

Today I woke up and I'm PISSING BLOOD.

    So -- a few questions:
    1) Do I need to go to emergency? Like..now.
    2) Has anyone had this? I ran a search but most posts were old and didn't give a follow up. What do I do if the antibiotics don't work? Can I actually die from this shit?
    3) How can I go back to work after this? If someone got an infection months back and I got one last week then someone is spreading it around untreated and it's not going away. I work nude, no contact and my stage is huge and it's impossible not to do floorwork. How can the club eradicate it? What can I do to protect myself? Do baby wipes and antibacterial spray actually do anything?

I didn't have a cut where I got the infection which is even scarier.

    Seriously.... Emergency Room --- NOW!

The other questions you pose will be answered eventually, but bloody piss won't wait. Your kidneys, urinary tract and your life are at risk.

I'm glad you don't feel like you're going to die! LOL. But damn, let me tell you, bladder infections can escalate in a VERY short period of time. I'm just looking out for ya.

get treated right away. My friend just caught this and after a couple weeks of antibiotics she's doing okay and the infection is pretty much gone her doctors have been saying.

good that you went to the doctor. I had a dangerous bladder infection last summer. Dont forget to stay super hydrated. Teas, gatorrade, are your friends. And taking garlic tablets to fight the infection would also be really smart

Hospital, I agree. How much blood are we talking here? Sounds like an infection for sure.

    Keep us updated.

    Went in, really weird doctor.
She looked at it, said it was an infection, didn't actually test it or anything.

I told her about the urine and she sent it to the lab but nothing back on that yet.
I have antibiotics and I hope I feel better soon. I wish she would have been more receptive to my questions, I literally got pushed out the door and down the hall and when I came back she was too busy to talk. Fuck, I hate Kaiser.

If it is an infection I highly recommend Ciprofloxacin (Brand names: Cipro, Proquin)--- amazing antibiotic for UTI's, bladder infections, etc. I've had about a half a dozen UTI's (some with bloody pee... *eek*) and it's no joke. The fact that you've been feeling out of whack worries me greatly. It seems like you could have the beginnings of a kidney infection.

Please make sure your odd-ball doctor has your best interest in mind. Hematuria a.k.a. blood in urine is usually a sign of something very serious.

You have a doctors appointment tomorrow right? Get a second opinion PLEASE... perhaps your other doc will be more receptive to your concerns. Also make sure that you get some medication for your bumm. I don't know if it's related, per se, but a topical treatment to help your skin heal up nice and get you back to work is very important.

Glitzy, I don't know you but I do hope you take care of yourself.

    Wishing you the best.

This happened to me before ! And a few girls I know...I think it's just from bacteria and germs lingering around on the chairs, bar stools, and possibly poles. ( not to mention grinding and bacteria mixing with your sweat?) anyway I haven't gotten one in a while, but every few months or so while working t ths club I'd get a painful boil on my butt or thighs:/ it would eventually go away after a lot of soaking, antibiotic cream and squeezing the fluid out which eventually left a scar (I kno I kno gross) but I've been preventing this by using baby wipes at work every few hrs and a shower afterwards with antibacterial soap. I'm sry you got that too! I havent peed blood or anything but these skin boils are reoccurring. I took some antibiotics a few weeks ago on my own so hopefully they went away for good.

I love Cipro, and Septra! I've had over 150 UTIs, they always end up bloody (bladder and kidney disease is fun!) and those drugs always cleared it right up. I agree with Sophia about a second opinion as well. The fact that she didn't swab the infection is really weird.

I have had staph, its a skin infection and one of the most common signs of it is reoccurring boils...to test for this they usually lance one of the boils and send it out for testing. They will either prescribe you some strong topical cream or strong antibiotics...the common antibiotics don't treat it because its really resistant...I had a combination of Bactrim/Septra. Good luck girl...hope you start to feel better soon.

Ladies, be very careful if you get or suspect you have staph. In November, I got a blister on my heel from my dance shoes. Weeks later, it was only getting worse and looking more disgusting. It began to 'weep' fluid if I arched my foot the wrong way. I thought it was just infected & treated it accordingly ... doing nothing special. Well I got a pimple on my forehead the same day I notice my "owie" weeping & picked at it. I also had 2 other pimples on my face at the time. The next morning, I woke up and the pimple I messed with literally swelled up to the size of a large dome on my forehead. I still had no idea what was going on and thought I must have stupidly infected it by picking at it. The next morning, the other 2 pimples swelled up and just looked plain DISGUSTING. Infected with pus and huge swelling. It took 2 weeks of antibiotics and constantly (carefully) draining the pus and blood from the 3 spots on my face and now I have shallow pink scars where they were. Apparently staph can spread right from your blistered foot through your blood to any little tiny cut or compromised tissue on your body SO BE CAREFUL! In our profession it's extremely easy to pick up staph and now I get to pay for laser resurfacing on my face because of it.

Staph is normal flora of the body...meaning it is on your skin always. This is fine and not a problem. Its only dangerous, and I mean REALLY dangerous, when introduced to your body via cut, scrap, blister, pimple. Any opening into the body, once infected with Staph, needs to be treated ASAP!! Staph infections are most commonly contracted in hospital/medical type settings, transferred from person to person largley from contact but also via air duct systems. Staph is hard to treat, normally only Cipro/Bactrim....heavy hitting antibiotics can treat. And it usually takes weeks if not months to completely rid the body of a staph infection. Be careful, watch small wounds. Take all medicine as prescribed....this can become extremely anti-biotic resistant so do not mess around with it!! Sorry, medical background!

got antibiotics and the sore in question has cleared up really fast. i will be sure to take the whole bottle and from now on i'm that asshole setting towels down on seats and wielding baby wipes everytime i enter the dressing room! i know i got it onstage though from where the spot it (rest my weight there a lot during floor work).

thank you all for the info and i am feeling almost back to normal already.
