Default Another ?? About UPSTATE NY/Albany!

Hi I'm new here but I'll intro myself later.

I've been doing research about which clubs to dance at in Upstate NY and I've read all the posts here...

According to you ladies it seems like Dicarlo's and Double Vision would be the best bet $$ wise. I come from a big city out of state (MA) and I am spoiled rotten for sure, but I was wondering if anyone can give me a hint at what a nightly potential might be. I've danced long enough to know it depends on the dancer, night, patron, luck etc etc etc, But I need to know are these, like, $100 night clubs, $500 night clubs? No one has VIP! Can you make money on simply air dances? (I made most of my money in VIP...no dirty stuff.)

One other question I have is about NY dress code...does bikini club literally mean 2 piece outfit? Does one walk around the club in a bikini and thong or do you have to wear a skirt, hot short? Thong needs to be opaque?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me any info about Albany area!

Oh, no no no... Dicarlo's is a HUGE waste of time. some nights girls will walk out of there with less than 50 bucks, two or three nights a week. Double Vision is really a stage club from what I hear. Weekends are ok but not great. The best club in this area is Capital Hideaway, even though the manager is a jerkoff sometimes. You can wear literally whatever the f you want as long as you're covered. Girls wear bikinis, dresses, baby dolls, lingerie, skirt sets... whatever you're comfy in. Cap Hide has 'VIP', but its 75 bucks for 15 mins and you get 45 out of that. Topless VIP is 60 and you get 35. I average anywhere from 100 a slow weeknight to 350 a weeknight. Weekends depend on how hard you work. You could do anywhere from 300-700. I usually pull in about 600. Not amazing stuff, but the best in Albany for sure. Don't waste your time at the other clubs. The manager will hire you all types of girls so don't be afraid to stop in. They just renovated the club so it looks a lot better than the photos on the website. Good luck!!

I can't get into any specifics but there is money to be made in the area if you're good at your job. Most aren't.

That being said, I don't know anyone who's made $1k+ more than a handful of times in a 5-8 hour shift (or at least admit to it). $100/hr+ on many nights is definitely not out of the question, though, even if you give air dances. Again, you have to be a great hustler. Girls who aren't... walk out with $50.

Thongs have to be opaque. Most clubs don't care what you wear on the floor aside from that but either prefer or require that you wear more than just a g-string onstage.

Another thing to note is that the clubs are small and more or less demand exclusivity. Try out different clubs, but don't expect to leave and come back more than once without getting on anyone's bad side.

Where Albany clubs are concerned, the best advice I can give is to take I87 South !!!

Thanks for all of the great information. I'm going to look into Capital Hideaway, and visit Dicarlo's this week. I'm way tempted to just take the Albany bus to Mardi Gras Springfield, I've heard that there is more money there (?). Maybe Melonie's right, I 87 S might be the way to go!

If I travel out of the area having a club with a hotel is a huge plus and I've heard MGras has one.

Don't want to threadjack, but I have a question for Melonie:

Let's say you work in upstate NY and pull in something like $1800/week and have a very low COLA -- $6000 to $8000 a year in rent, under $100 in gas per month, cheap food, etc. How much would you have to make in NYC for it to be "worth it" considering the cost of gas, hotels, tip outs, and more expensive food?

Edit: Did some calculations based on the estimated cost of working at a NYC club with a $200 tip out for 48 weekends out of the year. I tried to be as conservative as possible in my estimations of other costs -- $75/night hotels, $30 Megabus round trip, $16 for the subway. I don't have the exact numbers anymore, but that added up to a little over $30k a year alone, which puts necessary earnings in the $120k ballpark to break even. If your only income comes from weekends in NYC, you would have to earn $2500 per weekend in order to break even. If you work weekends and two nights a week in your hometown (~$450/night) you would have to earn ~$1600/weekend to break even, but I don't know how many dancers would have the energy to work four nights a week with all that traveling. So the question is whether it's possible to make substantially more than $2500/weekend in NYC.

^^^ if you're netting $1800 a week in upstate NY, you're better off sticking with it !!! That's well above the 'average' for that area. Agreed that, under the circumstances, the additional expenses of travelling to NYC on weekends make the 'extra earnings' versus 'extra effort' questionable.

Is it possible to crack $2500 on a weekend in NYC ? In the right club, with the right customers, absolutely ! Can you count on it happening each and every weekend, no friggin way !

The average for the area is heavily skewed by dozens of unprofessional or less able dancers. In my most recent club at least four out of ~25 dancers averaged around $500/night in a 5.5 hour shift (possibly more), which in my opinion demonstrates it's not a fluke. That's not a spectacular amount of money per night but if you add up four nights a week it turns into a number many dancers would be happy with! These high earners were all beautiful and fantastic hustlers though -- I'm not sure how well less good looking hustlers do, but good looking girls who don't know how to hustle don't have a shot. If the OP has both of these traits she might benefit greatly from being a big fish in such a small pond. If not, upstate is probably not worth her time.

I travel between 3 clubs when I get the chance and while Albany isn't a great area in the winter at my main club, it is fantastic in the summer. Give it a try and see if you like any local clubs. But just a fair warning, Capital Hideaway isn't very busy right now except on the weekends due to the remote location and weather. In summer I'm usually pulling in 1,500-2,000 week depending on how many days/week I work. Now I'm making 800-1300/week. I forgot to mention that I've only been a patron at DiCarlos when I was scouting it out. I went there twice. Mixed reviews from the girls but I think they have (correct me if I'm wrong) 25$ dollar air dances, and I don't think there's VIP. The Hideaway has 20$/song dances but the main thing they do are the 75$ 'VIP' dances. It's actually easier for most of us girls to sell a private than a lap dance, surprisingly. All the rooms have cameras so no extra stuff goes on.

I know a couple girls who've worked at Mardi Gras and it is a big club with a tough hustle from what they tell me. I know they're very strict on dress code (floor length gowns only) and the girls have their regulars so it's tough. It's definitely busier than Albany but it def depends on hustle in those super competitive clubs. I don't know personally though because I haven't worked at that club. If you want a decent club that's good and you don't mind traveling, try Ruby's 2 in Bridgeport, CT. They have a very low tipout, nice clientele, and a laid back atmosphere. It's a bigger club but not huge. The poles suck though so you can't do any tricks. It's in downtown Bridgeport so there are a few hotels close by. I think they said they have deals with a hotel for girls who travel, but I don't remember. I always just drove home.

    Good luck!!!

You can't ask for money after a "dance" at dicarlos. After you dance they tip you what they feel is best ( $5–$10) stage is lame because you have to cover yourself with a pillow and get off stage to collect your money. Rules are retarded and the manager is a cunt. Classy place though with good food and a fun pole/ monkey bar

Dddallas, why do you think the manager's a cunt? Might be helpful to prospective dancers.

Speaking for Double Vision, there are unfortunately a lot of issues in that club that seriously affect your money. It has great potential (location location location), but unstable ownership and management can (and will) create a hostile work environment where you will NOT be rewarded for following the rules. The last time I worked there, about two years ago, hiring standards had gone down the drain. Plus, they always had a tendency to seriously overbook dancers, so you'd be competing with like 10 other girls on really slow nights, just so the club could try to pull in more money for house fee. I really wish ownership would change over and I would be back there in a heartbeat. They drove off so many incredible dancers, beautiful women with phenomenal personalities. There IS money to be made if you're a good hustler...even on slow weeknights you can usually count on at least $200, and on weekends you could usually count on at least twice that. Not as good money as it was before the economy crashed (I was brand new without a fucking clue and pulling in double the amounts I just stated), but nothing to sneeze at either. And when I was there, extras were being performed with more and more regularity, and as management didn't care, it became difficult to compete with. The lack of a VIP to upsell to was always a problem. And someone previously mentioned that stage was a big deal here, and it is. Stage was a HUGE draw and a good stage show would result in you selling a TON of lap dances--guys would see you on stage then immediately buy lap dance tokens to use on you, so you'd get off stage and they were waiting for you to go do the dance. Really effortless. I mean, if you did a crappy stage show you could still sell dances, but more effort was required in the selling, and you'd get the "I want to see you on stage first" line a lot.

I've heard good things about DC's. I actually plan on starting there myself at the end of this month. I've heard terrible things about Shenanigans; my husband used to bounce there and absolutely forbade me from ever working there after the shit he saw. I've heard that a lot is--ahem--expected of you at Nite Moves, extras-wise. That may just be a rumor, but every guy I've ever talked to about Nite Moves has flat-out said he's had sex in the private dances with some regularity. And these aren't just random custies running their mouths, these are guys I'm friends with who wouldn't feel the need to make up shit like that. I've never really heard much about Capital Hideaway...all I've heard is that it's so isolated that business can be super slow so you really rely on regulars to make any money.

I should also mention that I've heard good things about Ace of Clubs, but the information was always second-hand...I've never talked to anyone who actually worked there.
