Default Random: Is it illegal the way he sells his clothing line??

Friend of mine has a cool line but part of it uses sports patches like Bulls or Ravens or Yankees and sews it onto GAP denim jackets…or other brand jackets….then SELLS them.

Im wondering if this is illegal? Im pretty sure it is, and to me it looks corny as crap…..

    Here is what he said:
"i paid for the logos when i bought the article of clothing it came with
so i can do what i want with it"

Oh well, I guess he feels he has it all under control.
    Thanks

I am pretty sure that buying an article of clothing with the official team logo does not give him the legal right to use those patches in a clothing line for profit.
In any case, he seems unconcerned about it. If you've voiced your concerns and he does not feel the need to further research the legality of his clothing line, then it sounds like he's decided to find out the hard way. If I were in your position, I would feel as though I had done my part as a friend by mentioning the issue to him, and whatever he decides to do after that is his business.
