    Default Sprained Ankle

I sprained my ankle on Friday afternoon (sober, I fell down the stairs at the library, womp). I didn't think it was a big deal so I waked around on it a bit on Friday night but didn't attempt to dance. On Saturday I woke up and my ankle was giant, super swollen and bruised. So Saturday and today I have been elevating it and icing it and I have it wrapped up. I have to walk on it a bit to run errands and go to class and stuff but I'm taking it pretty easy. I plan to dance on Tuesday, I know that might be a little early but I am not in very much pain, my ankle just looks really busted. I plan to wrap my ankle and wear shoes with ankle straps and then put legwarmers over it so you can't see the wrap. I don't have to go on stage and I think I will be OK.

Is there anything else I should be doing or trying? Is Tuesday too soon to dance?

I broke my foot, not my ankle, took a week off and when back to work. Horrible idea I rebroke it 8 months later worst than the first time. Give yourself some time off to heal properly. Your body will appreciate you!

Yeah? I haven't broken anything so I figured I would be OK ...

You could end up doing tendon and ligament damage if you go back to soon.

I had to work on a sprained ankle a few years ago. I found it helped to tightly tape my foot/ankle into high heel position, so that my foot and ankle were immobilized, then to cover the tape with something closer to my skin tone. Remember to bring extra tape! Of course, if you can take a few days off, you should. Good luck!
