Default Exotic dancers license in ATLANTA

    Hey ladies,
I live in Atlanta and I have been looking forward to auditioning for quite some time now. Recently, I began doing research and decided to go for it - and consequently am VERY excited. I bought everything, have been working out like crazy and now that it is finally time to go audition, i find this out. When looking up the requirements for an exotic dancers license in ATL, i found that having any drug charges EVER disqualifies someone from getting it. Now, i have a misdemeanor drug charge from like...5 years ago. Just to clarify, i was right out of high school and in my 'rebel' phase and haven't gotten in any trouble since. This is something I never thought twice about. Is this true? If so, is there any way around this? I would be willing to drive out of the city. I've pretty much banked a lot of my plans around dancing and would be absolutely disappointed if it didn't work out. Please help!

Also, if you girls have any advice about clubs in/around atlanta please fill me in.

I never danced in Atlanta although I danced near there. The audition process is pretty much the same as anywhere else, call first to see what time to be there, show up looking as hot as you can, do a song or two on the stage and then if the manager likes you, he'll take your info and give you a schedule. The crappy part is needing the license, because they're expensive and if I remember right, you license is either for only one club, or only one part of town. Girls would always come to my club complaining about what a rip-off the license was, because it was something like $350 and they'd get it after they got hired at one club, and then not be able to take it and go to (insert other club here). I *think* it was something to do with areas of town, because they'd talk about how the good clubs were spread out around the city in such a way that you couldn't take a license for one and go to the other, without paying another $350.

Some clubs will hire you, give you the paperwork for your license and then tell you to come back when you have it (I think you get fingerprinted at the sheriff's dept) and others will hire you and give you a week to work without the license so you can earn the money for it. Occasionally they might pay for it for you and let you pay them back from your shifts. I would definitely try to get the license despite your drug charge, it might be something like felony-only, and 5 years ago was a while back. You can at least try, I doubt you'd still have to pay if you didn't qualify for it. DON'T get the license before you're hired - I'm not even sure if it's possible, but you could be paying a whole lot for a club that winds up not hiring you.

    Good luck!!

I would say if you're willing to travel, there are other places in GA that you could work at, that does not require a license! I know that the macon area does not require it... the type of crowd though is mostly black, unlike atl who have more mixed crowds. good luck

I worked in Dekalb Co for many years. I would call the office and ask them about it before you go trudging down there. I know they'll give you a license with a DWI but beyond that I'm not certain.

Bumping old thread for a question.

Anyone got a license with a prostitution charge (from a dif state, less than 7 years ago)? I know they allow at most 2 misdemeanors, but I heard prostitution was a no. This is a last minute thought. I would call, but you know ... gov jobs and weekends.
