^ There's a Galician word -- morriña -- that might describe your recent experience living in Seattle. It refers to a feeling of being in a place you don't belong and missing being in your place.

Lived there for a few years, having moved from a place with gorgeous weather. The first year was the roughest. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't rain all the time, but you really don't see the sun for about 8-9 months straight. No joke. It's cloudy, hazy, rainy, misty, foggy or snowy. When the sun comes out, it's for 15-30 minutes at a time, maybe an hour if you're fortunate. And the air is bizarrely dry for such a wet climate. Chapped lipped and dry skin all the time. The summers, however, are gorgeous - but that only lasts from about mid-May through late July.

The days are amazingly long in the summer - like full-on sunlight at 8pm. They're also equally short in the winter. For a night owl like me, I LOVED the extra darkness.

After the first year, I learned what to expect, how to adjust and found several indoor hobbies, one of which became a dream career. Does everything happen for a reason? I tend to believe so, yes. I also became increasingly creative and introspective here. The cold and rain led to the need to create. Weird how that worked. The downside was that my nightlife suffered, but to be honest, at that time everything shut down at 10pm anyway, so I didn't mind. Hipsters didn't exit yet - we were all still coming out of grunge - so that wasn't a problem either

I still miss the city from time to time, especially since LA's weather is so monotonous. I do wish it would rain more here...

^The perfect city for night owls is St. Petersburg in Russia during the winter months. There are two weeks in December when the sun does not rise at all. It just barely sneaks above the horizon for the rest of the month. There's 12 hours average monthly sunshine in December. The whole month.

When I was an undergrad at St. Petersburg State University I had an awesome view of the Winter Palace across the Neva on the Baltic Sea. But it was dark, cold and humid all the time, and the city was ancient in the worst way. The weather alone explains much of Russian literature, especially Dostoyevsky, as well as all the vodka.

We were all dirt poor students at the time, unable to afford even vodka, but my Russian roommates would cheerily make samogon (moonshine) we would slide through the fortochka (the small window opening on double-paned windows in Russia) to keep it cold and we'd drink the nights away, hoping not to go blind before morning.

I've often wondered how I'd fare in a place like Russia or Alaska where the sun doesn't rise for weeks/months at a time. I bet I'd get a lot more done.

One reason why I like the night is because no one bothers me for stretches at a time. I can concentrate for hours without worrying about emails, phone calls, etc.

I wonder if that makes me anti-social...

It sounds like the wrong time to start stripping but I can't help but try. Learning hustling skills will definitely be a must.

I live and work in Portland. I have a few close friends who live in SF and I'll visit them from time to time and I HATED it. So if I like Portland and dislike SF, Seattle may be a better option for you.

I will say less than 10% of the clubs here (we do have quite a few) you'll make money. The clubs are smaller and more quaint in the downtown area, so you often see the same 20 girls week after week. Stage money is the name of the game at the ones I like, but there are champagne room/hustle clubs available in suburbia (and one downtown called spyce). It will be very, very different then the environment in vegas. We have all nude, full liquor clubs. You are not suppose to touch/be touched... but I'm sure you can guess how well that goes. The scheduling at some of the better stage clubs is really strict.

I've worked around here for about 4 years. If you want information on specific clubs just PM me
