I can't get an IUD because my uterus is too small and is tilted. Trust me, they tried. I don't even think I would want that anyway til after I have a baby anyway so its ok.

I stick to lambskin condoms with monogamous partners because I don't have much of a choice. I too have issues with latex. But I use latex with partners when they're new because I have no other option really. I just can't use them too often or my vagina gets angry.
I have a tilted uterus too and they told me the same thing. In a way I'm glad I didn't do it because I am squeamish about things inside of me. Is Nuvaring hormonal based too? I have serious issues with anything hormonal based (this means non birth control too)and I don't trust a lot of it. I read an article awhile back talking about what foods and other things to avoid while on the pill because they actually increase the chances of pregnancy. I wish doctors would give these lists to everyone so they knew what to avoid.

BOTM is absolutely right. It's really shocking to me that there's women who don't know how BC works.

If PP really wanted you to get pregnant they wouldn't throw condoms and morning after pills at you every time I went there. I started going there when I was 16 and no matter how many times I would tell them that no, I wasn't at risk for anything pregnancy related because I was a VIRGIN, they refused to let me leave unless I took a 40 pack of condoms and 2 morning after pills.

Your friend sounds like another right wing nutjob who'll believe any stupid thing they hear just to satisfy her previous beliefs. Please don't spread this garbage, even if you're "not sure" if you believe it or not.
No she's not, but I do suspect she's a disgruntled employee. I doubted it, but I do question the accuracy of the pill if I know so many women who have gotten pregnant on it, considering it's supposed to be 99% effective. The condom has a lesser rate and I have never gotten pregnant from that so for me I stick with them.

Plan B is just an extra strong BC pill that you take to quickly thick the uterine lining so again, if there is an egg hanging around there after you have unprotected sex, it can't stick to the wall and begin to grow.

If an egg and sperm meet it is not inevitable that they will connect to the uterine wall. It's very possible that the fertilized egg would miss the wall and just fall out your vagina- oh no, another dead baby! It happens all the time. Plan B is just giving you a greater chance of having it happen.

Now there IS an abortion pill but trust me, NOBODY confuses it with another "emergency contraception" or anything like that. If you choose to get this pill (RU486) then a) you're giving PP $550 unless you have insurance who will cover it at another abortion clinic, and b) you will get multiple pamphlets with the word "abortion" all over it. You'll get a flyer that has "MEDICAL ABORTION" at the top and will explain it, you'll get a pamphlet that'll explain the different types of abortions, and if you may even get a 100+ page coloring book (no joke, I got one) with the title "ABORTION & ME: EXPLORING MY LIFE WITH ABORTION" or something equally as ridiculous. Trust me, you won't "accidentally" get the abortion pill when you intended to get Plan B.
I'm not arguing semantics but to some people (not me, let me make myself clear)would think that it was a life because of the whole conception. I happen to think these people are wrong. It had been years since I took a class on brth control but recently watched a movie that actually got me confused about all of this. I'm sure it was intended as it was an anti PP movie but there is a lot of misinformation out there. Since I can't use hormonal forms of birth control I admit I had forgotten a lot of this. I just don't trust the pill and never have after hearing all the terrible stories. I would prefer non hormonal forms and I suppose if I knew I never wanted kids I would likely have my tubes tied.

I'm inclined to believe the 99% is wrong too because I know many women who got pregnant from it. Most were larger women and I just don't think doctors know it all about this because like someone mentioned why give the same dose to different women? Makes no sense to me. I'm not anti pill per se, I'm just anti hormonal changes to the body and feel this way about so many medications. I don't want people to think I'm one of those people who thinks the pill is anti life or whatever they call it now because I think it's too extreme (and these people drive me nuts too). Then again I actually know people who think barrier methods are abortions too because they prevent the sperm and egg from meeting which I don't understand. They probably think masturbation is abortion too by that logic.

One method I don't see mentioned often anymore is the diaphragm. I think I would consider that one before the pill but that one can be messy.

I know that the effectiveness of birth control is supposed to be lower if you are overweight, so it makes sense that it would be slightly lower with someone who was just bigger boned, someone who took the pill with a lot of food, etc (since metabolizing seems to be the key thing here). So it would make sense that if we were all on the 50 micogram dose (that's rarely ever prescribed) then there would probably be less pregnancies, but we would also probably get fat, cry all the time, and get blood clots from such a high dose.
I think 92% is accurate. And that means that means that for every 100 girls who have sex, 8 get pregnant. That's really close to 1 girl in every 10 who has sex on the birth control pill, ends up getting pregnant right then. You have to take into consideration that there is about only 5 days per month that you can get pregnant (but those days can change at any time if your body decides to go out of wack, so you'd never know for sure when those days are), so that's why more girls don't get pregnant.

So, to put it in simpler terms, if you are on hormonal birth control, each time you have sex you have a 1 in 10 chance of getting pregnant, but considering there's only like 5 days per month you can get pregnant, chances are you won't... but chances are you will at some point eventually unless you're using a barrier method (condom).

What I HATE most of all is when people assume that someone became pregnant because they were reckless and didn't use any form of birth control. lol so dumb. Aren't over half of all babies born UNPLANNED? Isn't that the statistic? And those are just babies BORN. That does not include abortions. So its probably something like 75%+ of all pregnancies are unplanned, and probably at least half or more of those pregnancies were by women on birth control, to be honest.

One of my childhood friends got pregnant after her husband had a vasectomy so if that can happen any form can cause pregnancy. Creepy when you think of it. There was a woman who got pregnant after a tubal ligation.
