    Default Coachella

** Let me preface this by saying I have not been to Coachella since I was 18 years old. At that time, I snuck in and only went one day. I was young and f'ed up the whole time. I don't remember much.

I usually take one or two weekend trips with my girlfriends. I really want to go to Coachella this year. Or at least I think/thought I did.

A group of girls I know are going. They are CAMPING all 4 nights. At first I was like- yeah fun. But the more I think about the more I feel like I can't breathe. LOL. I mean camping for 4 nights?

I think I am getting old. I seriously doubt that I can handle camping for 4 nights in that type of environment. I think that at some point I need to take a shower and get in a bed away from all the drugs and madness. I don't do drugs anymore and honestly, I don't know if I could be in that type of environment for that long nonstop.

I hope that this doesn't come across as snobby. I have been up camming all night and am finding it hard to explain my thoughts.

So I guess the question is- have any of you gone to Coachella and camped all 4 nights? What was your experience?

PS I know that it is sold out- I am going to buy my ticket on Ebay.

Why can't you go with your girlfriend, but duck out to stay in a motel for a night or two in the middle of the trip? Maybe camp the first night, and motel for the second? You'll get a shower and a break. Sorry if this isn't a possibility due to location or something ....I know nothing about Cochella except it's a big booze and drug fest with live music and apparently celebrities.....Sounds like a good time though!!!

I always want to go to festivals but know I wouldn't enjoy myself camping for days. I'm just a princess and like nothing more than my own hot shower, clean bed, clean clothes etc. Plus I'm not one of those girls who wakes up with no makeup looking pretty.

I'm sure it will be amazing but if you're not a real camping person maybe you won't enjoy it as much as you should..
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

I have gone twice and camped for all 4 nights and it was a blast! Camping is honestly the way to go, because trying to get in and out of the festival every night to get a motel is virtually impossible....it takes HOURS to get out of just the parking lots. PLUS, you can go to and from your campsite and change clothes (hot during day, cold at night), eat, drink, etc whenever you want during concerts. They have shower trucks available but the lines are very long and you only get a quick cold shower. My roommate and I opted to just stay dirty the whole time and take baby wipe showers throughout the day. Don't worry about looking good....you're not going to, lol. It is hot and dusty! Just try to stay comfortable with nice walking shoes, appropriate clothing, sunglasses, hat, etc. As for the bed thing....it does get sort of uncomfortable, but by the end of the day, you're so exhausted you will have no trouble falling asleep. Lots of people will be selling/using drugs, but lots of people won't. I made some great friends around my campsite in past years that I still stay in touch with. My friend is about to get engaged to a guy she met at Coachella whose campsite was next to ours. I hope that you will love it! I am so jealous I really wanted to go!!!

I've been going every year since '08. There is no way you will be able to find a hotel room within a 50 mile radius of Coachella for one night. People start buying their tickets early. We made our reservations last year. But a lot of people I know camp and they love it! I think you should do it. Coachella is an amazing experience!

I'd love to go to Coachella as well but the tickets keep hiking in price and it gets more popular each year (=more crowded). Same with burning man... I can relate in that I'm kind of over my drug experimentation phase so I worry I would get sick of everything by the 3rd day, if not sooner. I got into going to massives in '07 and saw how quickly that scene blew up and how irritated I became dealing with the clusterfuck, but Coachella seems sooooo funnnn it might be worth it.

I used to get free tickets ever year (Know some A&Rs) and haven't gone since Rage played. The hiking prices, lack of variety in genres, and too many big names really have made the festival a bit of a bust. Might as well go to EDC with all the dubstep, trance, so on

^ That's a good point, too. I feel like the less drugs I do, the more picky I get about lineups. haha

If you haven't been, then it could be a fun experience. Like I said, I've been to many over the years and just can't get into it anymore. A lot of the bands I would love to see this year I could see at a smaller indoor venue for nothing or dirt cheap (Buzzcocks, DJ Shadow, Refused, etc.) . I will admit At the Drive In reunion could be a fucking epic set.

Never done the camping route as I have access to a house out there but I'm sure that's the best way to go if you do. Cheap and a lot of partying.

I also believe Dre and Snoop being the closers is lame. I'm a big hip hop head but I can't see that set being worth any money or staying late Sunday for.

My husband had a guy that gave us a great discount for tickets and VIP...up until last year. Basically, this guy got caught. We had the $$ last year, so we got tickets. I look forward to seeing bands that I couldn't afford to see when I was younger and was struggling as an actor/dancer. I always get pleasantly surprised by an act I don't know. In recent years, Sleighbells & Phantagram were great finds. I also fell in love with rappers I really didn't think I would like (I'm more of an alt. rock & EDC person) like Lupe Fiasco and Wiz.

I do have to agree, it is getting pretty expensive.

I wish I was at Coachella!

I could NOT camp for 4 days. I hate camping. Yuck.
But what I would do (and have done before) is couch surfing. Google it! It may not be your cup of tea, though.

I'll be there this year. A buddy of mine has a plus one since he's working the fest doing sound for one of the bands. I'm guessing since i'll be his plus one, i get the other wristband. and VIP backstage
