    Default split help/pratice

I have been dancing for little over a year and still can't do a split. Can you guys recommend tricks tips or videos that can help. I can get almost to the floor with maybe a foot of space between my crotch and the floor. Ugh I'm so aggravated I just want someone to push to down to the floor (although I'm not crazy enough to actually do it)

Something that's really helped me a bunch have been Alethea Austin's DVDs. http://www.aletheaaustin.com/index.p...&products_id=2

She has one for stretching as well. I've always struggled with flexibility, but following her routines makes me feel like I will actually be able to do a split someday. There's a lot of fantastic exercises on the vids. I've only been doing them a couple weeks and I already notice a difference.

that actually may be the best way for you. I used to teach ballet to 4-9 yr old (whose legs are much more flexible than yours of course) but in order to teach them splits we just pushed but for you i would suggest maybe pushing with your legs up insstead of down as i learned when i started ballet (around 14)

This won't help you, but I enjoy telling people this story. When I was about 12 I would go half way down and then quit. One day I was summer cam doing my lame half split when a bunch boys ran into out cabin and beat us with pillows. They beat me with pillows till I was touching the floor, and that's how I learned to do the splits.

I can do splits on the floor but not on the pole so I'm working on my flexibility using videos form YouTube... try searching "stretching exercises for flexibility" on YouTube and you'll get alot of good results... GL

Splits are my nemesis too- tore an abductor in Karate so it's hard even having natural flexibility.

So you mean stretching your legs on something elevated the way ballet dancers use the barre during their barre exercises?

    No. No barre involved.
Lie on your back against a wall with your butt touching the wall. Your legs should start off straight in the air like a capital l >wall>1L<you<

Then spread your legs open and if possible get someone to push your legs open further and further. if there is no one else there then let gravity gradually pull your legs open. do this ND OVER TIME YOU CAN EASILY DO A SPLIT

Check out the splits video on this thread http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sho...l-Video-Thread

It's a bit funny with two cute, little girls teaching but the way she tells you to practice them really works.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
