Dizzy Streamate on a Macbook Audio not working?

I am so confuzzled. I have a goal of 500 that I have to make for this month, just got signed up and approved for streamate...I can get into it, start streaming my show fine and all, people in and out of the room, etc. but I am on a 2009 macbook, with Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard and I have tried using "built-in input" and "aggregate device" in the webcam flash settings. My mic works for all other mac applications, including skype. People in my chat consistently say they can't hear me. I've tried restarting my computer, checking if the mic was being used for other apps, and using the old streamate streaming window. Nothing has worked so far. Help, ladies?

Are you using the HD encoder? You need to make sure your audio is set to the correct device and setting level in the encoder for it to work properly.

Also on your mac click the system preferences app on your dock, then click sound, then under input do the following
    -make sure mute is unclicked
    -set input to internal microphone
    -click "use ambient noise reduction"
-make sure input volume is set to the max
-make sure output volume is set to the max

Could you possibly have hit the button next to the start/stop my show button?

Nope, I have clicked that button on and off, trying to get the audio to work, but then left it on. I tried the system preferences too, and it hasn't helped. I guess I'm really screwed, and SM takes FOREVER to email you back! My mic works for literally everything else, this sucks I'm not using the HD encoder, either, because my internet isn't fast enough (neighbor's wifi) I plan on getting my own internet as soon as I make the money to

When I was not using the HD encoder I had somewhat of a similar problem. What worked for me was making sure I was super close to the computer whenever I needed to say something. For some reason the internal audio built in to the mac only pics up real well if you are close to the computer. I use a mac as well ....

Ok I am going to make a quick video tutorial on this problem and show you what you need to do. I will post the link once I am done.

The mics on older macbooks and macbook pros are right in the hinge of the keyboard. This works fine for video conferencing, which was their intention. Anything else, where you're not going to be sitting RIGHT NEXT TO the mic and it's going to fall short. You'll also notice that if your computer starts working hard the fan will start in and all the guys will ask, "Is there a jet taking off? Is there a fan on nearby? It's really loud!". Lastly, I have a 2009 macbook and it has (don't know if yours does) an active mic (active? I think?). Once it adjusts itself to the sound of my voice it'll cut off when I'm not speaking, so as not to have bad background noise. Very clever little mic but I do not thank you. It means that the very beginning of all first words will be cut off. The guys would complain about that too. When are they not complaining, I know. I can see how it would be annoying tho.

"...ah? ....u like that baby? ....uk my pussy! ...ant to see my toy?"

Try Jenni's suggestions, they're good ones! If none of that works, try setting music on fairly low in the background and making sure that your computer stays cool. The music will keep the active mic on all the time and keeping the computer cool will reduce how hard the fan has to work. That'll help cut some of the "noise pollution" and may make it easier to hear you.

Also, when the guys start whining about it tell them you're sorry, it's an old computer with an old webcam and you wish it were better but you just can't afford a new one! They most likely won't buy you a new computer but they may send you a new webcam. I said that and kept saying it whenever someone complained and in a few weeks two new webcams showed up in my PO box. Well, one new, one used (he had a spare one and sent it to me). Still! Awesome!

If you do get them to send you a new cam you'll have to trick your macbook into using it instead of the cam in the computer. Turn on something that requires the cam like Photo Booth or IMovie. Once that's going, plug in the cam and open the encoder (or just start your show for mac users not using the encoder). If the inborn cam is being used it'll look for another cam and use it. Once you're broadcasting you can turn off the other program so as not to use up too much processor time. You'll just have to remember to do it again every time you come back from break or whatever.

I do have a good webcam...it's this one: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-960-0...9075633&sr=8-2 But...I can't get it to work with iMovie or Streamate I'll try what you said, tricking it into working.

Oh, and Streamate STILL hasn't sent back an email about the problem, lol. My Macbook wanted to update last night, so I let it do it's thing and the audio worked mysteriously after that. But, the cam still looks pixelly and blurry when I checked it and a delay of a couple seconds on the audio (not a huge deal, at least it works at all ) so I want to get this HD one working.

Looks like it's picking up the USB device's audio with streamate, but my cam only shows the built-in as an option, even after turning on photo booth and having that recognize the video. The cam's light turned green with Photo booth, but it won't with streamate. Hmm...I'll keep fiddling and trying different things, if you have any ideas I'd love to hear them. I really appreciate all of your help, you girls are much more helpful than their support has been!
