Default Micro Ring Hair Extentions? Any Advice/positives/horror stories?

I've been offered a full head of micro ring hair extensions for well, essentially free. I rarely get my hair cut and my hair care routine is pretty basic, wash, condition, dry. No straightening, its straight already etc. A new salon has just opened next to the shop i work in in the day and the hairdresser in there is REALLY good, i know friends of mine who have been to him and had an amazing cut, colour etc. I was chatting to him the other day about going blonde and he said his colourist (who is also fairly intense) will do it for me cheaply (as they are trying to encourage new custom) and that he is teaching the colourist how to do extentions, so he said if i come and i do want my hair blonde (its dark dark natural brown) and ill be a hair model for the colourist, then they will colour and put a full head of micro ring extentions in for just the price of the colour and cut.

I want to know if anyone loves them, or hates them? Anyone had all their hair fall out after them? i do trust this hairdresser (which is a first as hairdressers scare me, they hold my crowning glory in their hands and ive been unlucky in the past!) and he said he will make sure they look after me and my hair, regular check ups haha and any problems they will sort out. But yeah, anyone with any positives or negatives? Im scared cause i do love my hair and i need it to make money haha!

Thanking you all in advance (i had a quick look for any related threads and maybe im being a fool but i cdnt locate any so if there are and ive missed them just link me up! Thanks girls!)

I've had them. I much prefer clip ins! I thought they looked slightly stringy and fake-ish, and yes, I had a few bald spots near my temples.

Thank you Ill admit i'm concerned, ive got quite "easy" hair in that it doesnt take much maintenance to look ok, i just dont want them snapping off and leaving me with tufty bits! Ive always had clip in extentions before too, its easier to style when theyre not attached to the back of my head! xx

I have micro rings in right now, I bought really good quality human hair and I am happy with it. I have had it in the past and it looked weird but I think the quality of the hair helps. I used it for length because I am at an in between period trying to grow my own hair out but when I had hot fusion done my hair was severely damaged that I said I would never do extensions again but with the micro rings this time they look super natural that several people in the hair industry at a beauty convention asked me how I grew my hair so long lol so I guess it's believable. Good Luck!!!

I've had them and hated them. Went back to the salon after a few days and had them removed. The rings were showing through my hair bigtime, even with styling and it just looked so obviously fake.

I have them and I love them! As I said in another post, I don't think the hair I got was the best quality and it takes a lot of care or it goes scratty but as for the method, I much prefer it to weaves, I find them a lot more comfortable and it took ages before the rings began to show. Only advice I need is where to get good quality hair from!x

I tried a lot of hair store brand Remi hair and found some were better than others but majority of it sheds and tangles, and is very difficult to reuse. I was beginning to get aggravated with hair store brand hair, I became angry and stopped shopping hair stores all together, and began looking online. Tired of wearing human hair blended Remi= Hair blended with plastic , string , animal hair, and 20% virgin hair( which by industry standards as long as it has 20% virgin hair can be called virgin Remi hair a little F.Y.I.) that in two weeks would require a lot of matienence to keep from swelling and tangling around my neck. I mean…..who wants a rat nest on their neck, after spending hundreds of dollars for natural tangle free soft looking hair! I promise I am not exaggerating!!! I have had some brands of Remi that minutes after being brushed tangled so bad it literally looked like a rat nest!!!! So my online search began…I ended up finding 2 companies online I wanted to try. Jaguar Luxury Remi was the main company at the top of my list, this company was featured in Chris Rock’s Good Hair Movie, the second company was a company I never heard of called The Human Hair Depot. I was so excited to order the Jaguar hair, I had heard so much about it online, and by it being in the movie “Good Hair”, I already knew it was the Bomb.com!!! I was very skeptical about the human Hair Depot, and against my better judgment I ordered it. A few things I noticed about both companies ….Jaguar…First off had very poor customer service skills and their shipping was very slow…even after paying for fast shipping. I was not expecting this from the company that was featured in the “Good Hair” movie. Nor was I expecting to be misinformed about when my hair would “really” be shipped…and did I mention I payed for prompt shipping(2-5 days) Then when it finally arrived 11 days later I was very unsatisfied!!! The quality of Jaguar’s Brazilian hand tied weft! Hand tied weft- hair tied on pieces of string with a knot on each end of the track/weft to secure the hair (still puzzled on how they actually thought this was going to work). After receiving the hair I was examining it before soeing it in and hair began falling off the string….my feelings was sooo hurt. Once I started sowing in the hair it started shedding because the track is so thin and poorly made it made it difficult to soe. After a week it began to tangle. I am very puzzled as to how Jaguar was able to get featured in Chris Rock’s movie!!! The Human Hair Depot on the other hand exceeded beyond my expectations!!! Once I took this hair out of the bag I immediately felt the difference in the texture in this hair and the hair I had been purchasing from the hair store, I knew it was a better quality. Also let me make this clear The human Hair Depot has very good , honest customer service ,Fast shipping, good quality hair , no shedding , very soft , tangle free and long lasting hair. I was able to soe this hair in twice. The first time I had it in for 3 weeks and I must be honest …..I DID NOT tie my hair up every night, nor did I brush & comb it every day, and this hair did not tangle or shed and remained soft and manageable. The more I didn’t brush, the curlier it got. I know what you’re thinking…..If it was so good, then why did I take it out? Because, Silly!!!! My Jaguar Hair came, and my Jaguar hair was famous!!! After all it was in the “Good Hair” movie….so I had to put it in….Yeah…so I told you earlier what that experience was like, after a week and 2-3 days I took it out and soed my Human Hair Depot Brazilian wavy back in. Again, Let me tell you, it’s still soft, tangle free and still has its natural curl. I must admit I am happy as well as puzzled. Happy, to have found some “Real” Good Hair, which lasts and can even be reused, its well worth the money. Even though it’s not as famous as Jaguar, it gives me celebrity hair status. Puzzled, on how in the Holy Hair Helmet Jaguar got featured in The Good Hair movie. Long story short Invest in the best, don’t be fooled with the rest. The Human Hair Depot in my opinion is far better than Jaguar by leaps and bounds!! Unbeweaveable hair!!! www.thehumanhairdepot.com

I was asking at my club and all the girls there are recomending weaves, or simply using clip ins, and to be honest, im thinking now i might just go ahead and do the clip ins, i have some already, if i get another weft it will bulk my hair out enough to make it bigger (i want stripper hair lol) and i can get it long enough to do loose curls etc. Im so scared of sticking things in my hair permenantly! And its taken me so long to decide on the pro's and cons i think it would be a mistake, ive manged to get my hair into a good enough condition for it not to be a problem, going back three steps would be awful! xx

this is EXACTLY why I vetoed the extensions. I looked at every option but honestly there will be some damage no matter what kind and how careful you are. Let your hair grow and be happy with your long, beautiful, NATURAL hair. That's what I'm doing I think I will be much prouder to have my own long, healthy hair then some ratty weave anyway.

Also be careful with the clip ins! Even if you only use them once or twice a week. They may seem safer but they caused a lot of damage that I'm still recovering from after consistent use in my hair.

I have a lisence for hair extensions. If your hair is thin/over processed/ bleached do not get micros. They twist and pull out you natural hair out at the scalp. Anyone who is lisenced will look or tested your hair before any application to decide what method is best in your case.

honestly, my hair is quite thick, in good condition and i havent dyed it for over a year, but before that it was bleached, dyed, dyed, dyed, messed with constantly for a period of about 6 weeks, a bad bleach job meant i had trouble getting it back to any kind of normal colour! it was DEAD and its taken over a year of careful managemt, conditioning etc to make it feel anything like my own hair again. I desperately need it cut and i know im going to lose at least a few inches of length, which in the week i wouldnt mind, but on weekend shifts i want to be able to have the big hair back. But i think clip ins are definetly the way to go now, ive had clip ins before and cause i dont do to much else to my hair, ie, it only gets dried with a hair dryer for five mins, i dont straighten it at all, i dont curl it and the only time i gets back combed is when i was wearing extentions and then i would condition it out. Still looking, but its deffo a no for the micro rings i think! Thanks for all the advice girls!! xx
