Default Would you buy/use home-made skin care products?

I found this on etsy and the reviews and photos are really insane. I get at least one ugly pimple every week or so... so I'm wondering if this would basically change my life. Just kidding... but seriously. I have never purchased food or lotions or stuff like that from etsy cuz for all I know they could be mixing something gross in there. But these photos are really encouraging!

    Think its worth a try?

Right off the bat, I don't like her disclaimer, sorry.."buyer/user accepts responsibility for allergic reactions.." It may be a good product, but who knows til you've already bought it, idk if she accepts returns? At least in ulta/sephora, you can take a swab & test things, if you buy & don't like, you can return. Even Target has some testers now..above mentioned, plus Walgreens, CVS accept product returns even if used, w/receipts.
There's a magazine call New Beauty, they have ratings/tested products for different skin conditions at least you can get an idea. I know it's popular to make your own, I might try it on my own, but really I'd rather check stuff out that's out there.
    Good luck whatever you decide.

I actually read up on an old thread on here about Clarisonic and will be investing in that instead. I do feel nervous about purchasing someone else's homemade stuff. Like i said, you don't ever really know what they're really putting in there! That is what puts me off, not so much being out a bit of money although that also sucks.

Yes I did read about that as well, but like I said, I will average one yucky pimple a week or every 10 days or so. Otherwise I just have oily skin and I get too many white heads :/

I have combo skin, I get occasional nasties, esp. between brows. Have you tried Mario Badescu? I tested their pimple medicine in Ulta, (once) it seemed to help. I also like Got2b Blemish Buster medi-mask w/witch hazel, lemon, salycitic acid. I'm using Clean & Clear pimple medicine on one I have now, but I've had this product awhile & it's not as effective as it was when new.

Yes! I'd read the ingredient list first though. I don't like putting too many chemicals on my skin.

I thought I'd replied to this...hmm. Anyways yeah I get an ugly every 7 to 10 days. My skin is oily around my forehead and nose the most, but I wouldn't consider the rest to be dry. I did try Mario Badescu, I used the seaweed wash but I felt that is best for problem free skin. I get a lot of white heads so I do need exfoliation.

Basically ALL my beauty products are hand-made.

Here's a tip for your acne. Buy argan oil (or use whatever oil, actually...) and then buy sublimed sulfur. 9 parts oil, 1 part sulfur. Put it on your acne.
