I have wrestled with this since I started SM last year. I have tried so many settings, finally thought I had the setting that worked (not the one SM suggests) and, STILL, I get a lag like you are watching a Godzilla movie! This is not good! What happens is, I start out OK, but, as the time goes by and I am on (not even 20 min) the audio slows down and starts lagging behind the vid! So, I will have my mouth moving..nothing coming out, then about sometimes 7 seconds later (maybe I am doing live radio or TV and don't realize it! LOL) the words are heard, but I am obviously not making any movements! LOL The guys mention this to me, I acknowledge, sign off, then sign back on, it is ok for a short short time, then degrades again! I have the fastest cable package my provider has: I have close to 8mpbs or whatever it is called upload, my computer is about a year old, dual core, 4mb of memory, Win7, using iE8, Microsoft LifeCam Cinema (sometimes I use the mic on the cam and sometimes I use a usb Logitech) and it makes NO difference! Lag Lag Lag! I seemed to have luck when I set the encoder to 20 fps on the vid and 20 on the audio and upped the bandwidth I believe to 650 since I have a fast connection. That worked for a few days, then, bam..back to lagging again.
It drives me nuts, I know it drives the guys nuts, and I am sure it has cost me viewers who would have done a show since I look ridiculous!
Anyone else have this issue? I have visited other girls rooms and they don't ever seem to have the audio lag issue I do! SM *suggested* settings do NOT work to fix this problem I am having.
When searching the net for this issue, I did run into it could be my Codec settings within my cam? I have tried slowing down the fps on the video and keeping the audio at 20, but, I still get the same issue. Plus, it doesn't matter anyways, the encoder seems to try to match the audio to whatever video rate you choose. I can see also when it is lagging without visiting my room in another browser. I just look at th encoder and see it is a few seconds behind the vid rate!
Anyone who knows how to address this issue, or had it and fixed it, I would be forever grateful!
Thanks for reading.
