Default Mac vs PC for camming ?

I want to change my 5 years old laptop (pc) I have never used a mac, but I am tempted since I heard that it gets less viruses.
however the price of mac is double of pc !! is it worth it ? is there a BIG difference between mac and pc in performance ? is it good for camming ?
I am lost, I have a logitech pro 9000 , I think if buy a mac I will have to change my webcam too

I LOVE Mac! They are worth it, in my opinion. Apple care is also amazing and they have great customer service. Just beware that although they get less viruses, they also get more hackers. So be aware of that.
Mac is compatiable with the c910 I know that, my you have to edit the settings in CamTwist (a free MAC software) instead of the Logitech software. Logitech software is beat on a mac. I am not sure about the 9000 as I've never owned one.
Also, if you are interested in using the Sony EVI-100 one day, it works pretty well on a mac as long as you have the right software.
OH, and their video editing software is the shit!!

I have both. IMO I prefer PC for camming and Mac for everything else. Cam software seems to be most compatible with PCs. But Macs are my computer of choice.

I haven't officially started camming yet but when I did the research I found out that the Logitech 9000 camera is in fact Mac compatible. You won't even have to install a driver for it. It'll show up automatically on your "webcam" selection. In either case, the webcam that comes with the mac is pretty good too. From what I can see on my computer, they both look almost identical.

I work with Mac since 1995, the are very

nice and easy to handle. Much more

    intuitive as windows.

Through the years I had several ones,

also at work, were I made

    pornomagazines we worked with Macs.

In all those years I never had any virus

protection on my machines so they

    remain good in speed.
Don't use the Safari browser, it is very slow compared to the Google Chrome for Mac.

I have the Logitech C910 that works

    perfect on Mac,

well depends on the camera and sites you want to use.

the logitech 9000 is not mac compatible, however your mac will pick it up as an available camera source. You just wont have all the logitech controls or be able to download the software. I know because I have one. Mine kept on doing something weird too....it would just zoom in on its own and I would have to stop and unplug it. Quite frankly I never really liked the logitechs. I would rather use my built in isight! The only thing I do like about logitechs is they really brighten the picture up (thus you don't have to use as many lights) which really makes a difference in the summer heat!

I find the encoder for SM works better on my mac. It never crashes, my CPU usage is under 40%, never lags, and my settings are at 20 fps and bit rate at 1200

I have only used a pc for camming, my only issues are I rather a desktop over a laptop and I rather a video camera over a webcam. so that is what I am saving up for it was funny cuase when I got my first laptop I thought it was better then over the years I guess I miss my old fashion desktop and video camera.

There is a logitech pro vision webcam made for macs, but from what I am hearing from mac users it that the Ipevo webcam works best for them, and there are some isight webcams one ebay.

I have both a mac & pc both set up on my desk, with 3 monitors. My friends joke about my 'command center.' For caming I see them both about the same. I do however prefer the mac for all my design work / clip editing ect & out of shear laziness cam prominently off my mac.

Both my crappy Logitech & my C910 work on either, however I do lose all the bells and whistles on the Mac but I think using physical lights & moving the camera are better quality wise than forcing those settings within the camera. If i don't like my coloring / exposure for clips I can always do some color correction within iMovie.

    Bottom line:
Use the EQ your comfortable with. Also keep in mind by changing system you'll lose any software you've acquired.

PC all the way, ideally a desktop. You can get an amazing PC with great specs for a fraction of the price of a mac. Viruses aren't that easy to get if you take the proper precautions.

I'll second that ! Macs are wonderful machines for certain applications, but the de-facto standards in the camming industry are focused toward PC's.
