No just let the natural oils and healing take place and when you do wash and condition once a week use a good conditioner. Public water is crap so the less you put it in your hair will help too. I only wash and cond once a week too when I'm not traveling but when I travel I wash, blow , flat iron and I've been using the nexus deep conditioner in the tub, I bought on a whim for my hair extensions and my hair has gotten 50% better cond and I only use it when I travel. Check it out! I've used every high end brand over the last 4 years and it's better than anything I've used thus far.

I have dry hair too and when I have a shower and don't wash it I always wet it then put Moroccan Oil in after. Keeps it from getting dry and I it makes my hair look healthier.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
I wash my hair approximately every three days; the other days I take a bath. Every time I wash my hair, I comb conditioner into the lower half of my hair and pin it up to absorb for a few minutes. When I'm out of the shower, I use Surface Trinity Protein Cream and Surface Bassu Gold Hydrating Oil, also on the lower half of my hair, never towards my scalp. This stuff works wonders and has made my hair so much healthier, softer, and shinier.

Since I'm always cold, & susceptible to ear aches/sore throat, I usually have a hat on, inside the house. Which tangles/knots my already dry/damaged color treated hair. Sometimes, I wet the length of it, (not the top/scalp) then apply conditioner (I like Kenra, John Frieda Blond) leave it a short time, & rinse. I also have detanglers, Knot Now by Kinky-curly, & L'Anza healing moisture spray, both are leave in. Even w/those, & a natural rubber wide tooth comb, I can barely get a comb thru. So I must do above w/the rinse out conditioner.
I also like to deep condition.
My hair is dyed and relaxed (chemically straightened.) I wash my hair at least once a week, more if i have the energy to straighten and I condition it with regular conditioner in the shower and then when I get out do a deep conditioning system and keep it on while I sleep and rinse it out when I shower. It seems to be working well for me, my hair went from ear length to shoulder length in about five months, very little shedding and it retains its shine and softness even though I dye my hair a lot.

I don't think it will make much difference either way as long as you don't blowdry / straight iron it and you put back in some type of oil (argan oil is my fav, and the its-a-10 line & kpak). What I've noticed with damaged hair is that there isn't much of a way to repair it unless you let it grow out & don't bleach/dye it often. That's been my experience. Although I do hear brazilian blowouts fill in the porous areas of each strand so that might be helpful if you like straight hair.
To be honest though, I don't wash my often. Every few days or so, sometimes more lol. I just baby powder or dry shampoo the roots because they get oily after like 12 hours.
Various oils and serums can be applied to dry hair, in moderation of course. And it shouldn't be going near your scalp...you want it towards the ends of your hair. The Surface Bassu Gold has been working wonders on my hair--I apply it to maybe the bottom third of my hair, after it's already dried and styled, and I seal it in with a quick run-over with my flat iron. I also apply it to damp hair, but I've noticed even more of a difference since I started applying it dry. I also used to use a Chi serum way back in the day, but I don't remember seeing as big a difference as with the product I use now.

I started using a leave in conditioner about 2x a week. I love it so far.

I wash my hair about 3 times a week or so, more if I work out. I condition only when I wash. My hair and skin is super-oily though, so I don't need to as often. I brush my hair with a boar-bristle brush every day.
I also use a serum that's specifically for split ends if my ends are looking ragged. They break and split super-easy, so a couple weeks after a trim they'll start looking ragged. Also Moroccan oil on the bottom third of my hair.

Pure argan oil! I swear by it. Massage some into your ends before bed or when you wake up and your hair will absorb it. The more you use the longer it will take to absorb, so start with a little bit at first. I used too much once and my hair wasn't able to soak it all up so it was more of a mask and I had to wash it. I do it at bedtime after I brush my hair so I don't wake up with it all fried and crunchy looking at the ends.

I have to condition every time i wash my hair otherwise its like carpet![]()
But it pretty much only gets did when im working, so maybe twice a week, friday and sat, and then once the rest of the week if its lucky, but i dont blow dry it if im not going to work, i let it dry naturally. I use Dove intensive repair shampoo and conditioner which is really getting the moisture and glossy back into my barnet which had previously become a bit dull and very snappy (...maybe my hair imitates my mood?)
This Argan oil sounds good, just about to look into where i can get it from.
