    Sad Bombed my first audition

Hi guys! This is my first post ever, I'm glad I found this site because boy oh boy do I need the help. I did the shooter girl thing in urban Atlanta clubs for a few months, it was good money but I'd rather dance. I don't think I fit in good at the urban clubs because I'm super skinny (my butt is nonexistent lol) so I like to stick mixed clubs. I tried out for Hustlers in New Orleans last week because a friend of mine is an assistant manager and mardi gras is always big business but the GM told me I was pretty but to come back after I learned some pole tricks. I was bummed but now that I'm back in Atlanta I'm thinking about trying out for Follies or Oasis; any tips or club suggestions??

I'm the same position as you. I have a different body type than the typical "urban dancer". I have boobs, hips, and an ass but I am on the thinner side. I also have a different personality and my voice, when you speak to me on the phone, I sound like a valley girl haha (...these suburbs) I am also looking to work at those two clubs soon. Where did you work as a shooter girl if you don't mind me asking? I am just looking to get back into the industry down here in some respect.

I'm surprised at the amount of black dancers who think they won't make money in urban clubs because they don't fit the stereotype. Remember that ALL men like variety, no matter the race. I make extremely good money in urban clubs, and they are not even my home clubs. I call them my play clubs b/c I go in just wanting to have fun. My main money comes from white clubs, which I'm very successful at too. I am slender with C cups and a petite, round butt.

But urban clubs WILL accept your look. It's all about YOU and YOUR HUSTLE. I'd be more concerned on developing a hustling style that fits urban clubs than how I look at an urban club. There are girls with the stereotypical urban dancer look who are NOT making money in urban clubs because they don't know how to hustle.

yeah i think i'm in the same boat. honestly, urban clubs intimidate me LOL. one, i don't really know how to dance to that kinda music, i'm VERY petite (i don't really have boobs or an ass :/), and i don't know a lot of pole tricks. chicks at onyx bank, but a lot of them have big asses (even the skinny chicks there mostly have ass shots)

Once you stop allowing yourself to be intimidated, you will make money. A scared dancer in an urban club will be eaten up alive. Fake it till you make it and you WILL make tons of money along side everyone else. Confidence is key.

I decided to start out with a small club, it's fairly new and is down the street from Strokers...all of the girls are "thick" or have mad pole skills so you can kind of tell I'm a newbie but they've all been very helpful and taken me under their wings....I even learned how to make it clap lol

What I learned is to play me being new up, so I get sympathy money.

I agree with the poster who said whether you fit the look or not it's about your hustle. I'm learning slowly but surely! Good luck to all you ladies *hugs*

I'm not a n00b but I have thought about working in an urban club. I have the "look" (huge ass small waist big fake tits) but I have next to no pole skills and remedial clapping skills. I'm scared shitless honestly. Good luck to everyone.

I just saw your question, I worked at Primetime in Decatur and ER lounge across the street from Opera as a shooter girl

You should do good in an urban club, different works. I know a lot of girls of other ethnicties (eastern european, latina, ect) some thin some thick who bank in urban clubs just because customers like a variety...its like the same concept that some black dancers have that when a few woc (women of color) work in a predominately white club we bank but when there are too many it messes up our money but reversed lol

I went there during dayshift and they told me to come back to talk to the night shift manager because dayshift was full

I also went to goldrush...it was an interesting audition experience to say the least. The housemom was really sweet and the girls were nice too, everyone kept telling me how pretty I was and the patrons begged me to stay. The manager walked in gave me a look and the housemom said she'd call and let me know if I was hired. The only thing about it is all of the girls have a certain look, the dancers were gorgeous girls it's just everyone was either a dark skinned skinny black girl or a tall blonde (exactly half and half) and I don't fit either of those categories (I'm more along the lines of exotic/racially ambiguous) so I'm not sure if they hire girls with my look but I'll find out soon enough!

Wow I can't believe they told you to come back after learning some pole tricks! A lot of beginners learn after they start working. You will do good. Find a club where they are not asking for all that and you will pick up pole tricks and all on your own. Either that or join a pole studio for a little while.

Ok I changed my avatar so you can see what I look like. What's wrong with me? I can't seem to get a jump off on either Oasis or Follies. I am toned and I have a personal trainer that keeps me that way. I have a good personality, I'm decently pretty. Why am I getting rejected at the door?

I don't know Babez! But you do look great!! If is something you really want, take some pole dance lessons. Or go to a club that is open in the day time and ask them if you can practice pole work and see if the dancers will help you out. Get you experience up a little.

Update: So I went to Oasis and spoke with the nightshift manager and he told me he'd hire me because I'm pretty and blah blah blah but too come back in a couple of weeks when business picks up and I get my permit. I have almost enough to purchase my permit *yay* I'm going to stop by follies as well on Monday too see how I like that club....and I can now successfully invert on the pole *takes bow* I've been busting my tail on the pole at work and it's finally paying off! My money is officially consistent!

Don't tell the people at the door your coming to audition just ask to speak directly with the manager. When my friend got hired at Follies the person at the door told her they weren't hiring but when she spoke directly to the manager they hired her on the spot and let her work without a permit.

    And you're very pretty btw!

I wish more non urban clubs would hire me. I like mixed clubs but we don't have any in st. louis. I have to drive at least 2 hours to find one, and the white clubs here would rather burn to the ground than hire me.

Congrats... I started a similar post about not going back to the club I applied to because I'm extremely intimidated lol and I think I'm a bit too tall lol.. The poles are really short and my pole skills are not good at all . But damnit I can dance . Should I fake it till I make at or wait .. Im in a difficult position where my day job cut my hour back and my landlord just handed me that paper that says u just might get put out on your ass .

I find it so hard to believe that all of you are having such a hard time getting hired. You all look beautiful! Seriously, from what I can see in your avatars, all of you are hotter than 80% of the girls I've worked with. I agree with the thing about speaking with the manager and avoiding telling the bouncer what you're there for. You never know what weird club drama is going on behind the scenes. Maybe you should call ahead of time, speak to the manager, and set up a specific night to come in--that way you can tell the bouncer you are expected and he can't turn you away for bullshit reasons. I've seen a bouncer who was really close with a particular dancer who didn't want any new girls to compete with, so the bouncer would try and help her out by telling walk-ins that the club wasn't hiring. The manager was always totally ignorant of this and I would hear him bitching about how he didn't have enough girls.
