Default What are the Best Wigs for Stripping?

Hi I am thinking about wearing a wig at work. I was wondering what is best, human hair, synthetic, mono-filament... I am all confused. What is the best wig for a white girl thinking of going blonde. Also I am thinking of going short or medium length. It seems like human hair would be a pain to take care of, maybe synthetic would be easier to care for, hold it's shape better? Also are wigs a turn-off? Can you find a wig that looks good on Ebay? How much do I need to spend? Do I need to wear a hair net or any other preparation garmet? Do I need special shampoo/cleaner how about de-tangler or conditioner?

    So many questions

    Thank you

Oh and how long does a wig last?

Human hair wigs are by far, the best, in my opinion. I've never worn them to work, although I wear weaves to work and only human hair at that. With synthetic hair, it can get kind of stringy and wet dog looking after 8 hours or so. If you were going for a curly look then I would suggest synthetic b/c it does hold it's shape better, low maintenance.. Not too sure about mono-filament..

It can be a pain to take care of a human hair wig, washing and conditioning..styling..you just have to treat it as though it naturally grew out of your scalp. That's the only way to preserve the longevity of a wig, no one can really tell you how long YOUR wig will last you since you're the caretaker of it. But if you're willing to do all of that, it can last you anywhere up to a year plus. You'd also want to go with a good brand that sells good hair, you get what you pay for with wigs/weaves. I don't know much about wigs being a turn off, I'd say no..so long as the guy can't really tell it's a wig. I know two girls at my club wear them, guys don't seem to notice or care. The wigs they wear are about mid back length, black with side swept bangs.

Hair nets and wig caps help with your own hair (from wig clips) and prevention of your wig flying off. But those are personal preference. For a synthetic wig you'll need special shampoo/detangler/sprays & for human hair, you can use what you'd normally use on your own. Watch some youtube vids, I'm sure they can help narrow down what it is exactly you're interested in.

Oh, and with human hair..the options are vast lol. There is Remi hair (processed), Virgin Indian, Malaysian, Chinese, Brazilian..all types. I've mostly seen these attached to lace wigs. You can find some on ebay, but I'm always weary when it comes to purchasing hair that I have to bid on.

    Thank you Bldynbombshell ^_^ !

I guess this isn't a very popular topic. I was thinking of getting a wavy or curly red or blond wig in synthetic. I guess my main concern was finding one that was "styled" with the idea that it would hold it's style. Then I could just gently wash it, dry it and hopefully it would go back to it's shape.

I was also considering a wig with an artificial color or maybe a platinum. I do have a lot of hair and I am worried about being able to get it all under the wig.

Oh wait... I see similar threads posted in the pane below ^_^ !

    No problem!

Yeah, curly synthetic wigs hold their shape a lot better than curly human hair wigs. It'll always spring back into that shape, even when washed. Getting your hair into the wig shouldn't be too much of a hassle, my aunt has thick curly hair and wears a wig all the time - without the cap/net. Wigs usually have a good bit of stretch so none of it should be (too) troublesome. I can never get my big ass head into a wig lol. Hope you find something hot! The platinum sounds good too.

    Thanks again Bklynbombshell ^_^ !

I think I have a big-ass head myself O_o . I bought a couple of wigs for Halloween a year or two ago and I could barely bear to wear them for very long. They were cheap, Halloween Store wigs but still... And maybe I never had them adjusted correctly? But I am pretty sure my noggin is bigger than average.

If you are looking to go the synthetic route and you don't mind the way bangs look on you I would go with Forever Young Sugar Rush or Jenny's Hair Sense Josephine. Both are extremely sturdy and look great. If you don't like bangs, Forever Young Cosabella holds up well but it is a bit stringy so you might have to buy a packet of synthetic weave hair from sally hansen to bulk it up. Avoid Sepia brand wigs though. I bought two of their ( Misty and Electra ) and they like to frizz and don't take to heat styling very well. vougewigs.com has a great review section and customer photos. They tend to be more expensive so use them for review and shop around

As far as having alot of hair, my natural hair is down to my buttcrack and I just flat iron it, section it in half on each side, wrap it around my head and pull a wig cap over it. Then I use a boatload of bobby pins to anchor it down. I have never had it slip or fall off and I my stage performance is very acrobatic. As for itching or the wig feeling tight on your head, that is something that you just have to become desensitized to. It took about 2 - 3 weeks of regular wear for it to no longer bother me.

My wig maintenance goes as fallows: Week 1 to 2 I gently brush out any fuzziness and use a sheen spray http://www.walmart.com/ip/Olive-Oil-....4-oz/10324833 works best. Once it starts to look a bit crappy, I wash it in warm water with a small amount of laundry detergent, rinse and then coat it with fabric softener and leave it in a plastic shopping bag for an hour ( or a day if its really bad ) rinse, hang dry and it usually is good as new. From there, depending on it's level of damage, I take a flat iron to it using anything from very low to medium heat. Always do a test patch in the underside to make sure the level of heat you are using isn't going to fry the crap out of it; adjust accordingly.

Curling : I roll the hair on the wig with strips of cloth from an old towel and secure them with bobby pins. Then I boil a pot of water and get right to the point where it is about to boil ( where you can stick your finger in the water and it is unpleasant but won't burn the skin ) then I dip the wig in 2 or three time per section until each section is saturated. I'll set it aside on a couple of folded towels to soak up the water and leave for an hour, unwrap the hair and voila, Big, loose sexy curls. On a side note, I modified this from a youtube video where they put the hair in a colander and poured boiling water over it. Do not do this! I did and ended up with a frizzy mess that took 2 hours of flat ironing a numerous deep conditionings and the wig was never the same again.

Bald patches : I grab packets of weaving hair from sally hair ( the kind that is sewn to a track not the braiding hair ) and sew into the areas where tracks are showing or where the hair is thinning. I save all my old retired wigs as well and cut them up to bulk up and repair my newer ones.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I have owned about 60 wigs in the last five years and have brought many of wig back from the dead.

Thank you for this awesome information ^_^ !

I am trying to decide whether to dye my brown hair blonde or go with a wig. I think my hair would get destroyed after a while and never look quite as good as a good wig, without an awful lot of work and I would prefer to cut down my get-ready time.

The Picture Perfect wig by Forever Young looks more like what I am looking for. The Sugar Rush looks pretty long to me and like it would be a problem during lap dances, maybe tangle easier? Ideas suggestions?

I never had any issues with the sugar rush wig getting terribly ratty during work. I had to brush it on occasion but no worse than my real hair ( actually less than my real hair ). On the other hand, I've had one of the same length as the Picture Perfect and as I recall I rarely had to do maintenance during my shift. For the most part, anything mid - back or shorter generally stays pretty nice throughout a shift without too much brushing. I've also done butt length wigs that have gotten a bit woogity especially if I have been too bust to brush it and the customer have never made mention of it. I just have to deal with the consequences afterward. Unless you plan flipping upside down during a lap dance ( would not recommend doing this with a wig on regardless of length ) I don't see it getting terribly tangled. The Picture Perfect looks really glamorous and would look really awesome in the club, though.

I like real human hair wigs the best. I hate the way synthetic hair feels. I had synthetic hair clip in extensions and they kind of felt like a horse's tail and didn't last nearly as long as human hair.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

I am glad you brought up the Picture Perfect. I wan't that one and the Bedhead wig for my collection. I get so hung up on the really long ones and forget how attractive the shorter ones look. I have 7 of the Lavishly Wild wigs and they take a lot of work to maintain them.

Glad to hear. Kanekalon is far more resilient than the wig companies would lead you to believe. Don't use heat my toned ass.

Update: This chick knows her shit! My wig as as good as new at work. However the smell of Suavitel has permeated my apt and my husband was complaining. Also my "hair" smelled like Snuggle.

Suggestion: open a window when you do this if you don't want your place to smell like a Snuggle factory. It's not a bad smell, just overpowering.

Yeah, Suavitel is pretty potent. I guess I should have warned you. I am stuck out in AZ right now so the window is almost always open during the wig washings, LOL.

Haha, good call. Sahaurita to be exact. I have never eaten there but I'll have to try it before I leave for Nor Cal this week.

Google synthetic lace front wigs. Or lace front wigs. You can get them in a variety of styles and colors and the lace on the front looks like it's coming out of your scalp. You can part it as well and just pin your natural hair down and use a flesh colored stocking cap. The wigs have combs on them and bra strap hooks in the back for top security. Even if someone was to snatch it off they couldn't because the wig is literally strapped to your head. You can use glue or tape as well if you're really scared but they aren't necessary. You can also use bobby pins to hold down the sides. Try www.samsbeauty.com or www.lhboutique.com to find some cute cheap wigs. They have human and synthetic but most of the synthetic lace frontals FEEL and LOOK real. You can also add heat to a lot of them to switch up the styles. Just wash and the curl should come back, etc.

To wash my wigs, I just dunk them in warm water with shampoo and fabric softner. I think someone mentioned snuggle? but it really doesn't matter, sometimes I use gain haha. Synthetic wigs are made of fabric so they do tend to get softer and last longer when you use fabric softner. Also, taking them off at night always helps the wigs "lengthening" stage. Sleeping on it causing it to not last as long.

Thanks for the links above. I always wanted to try the lace fronts but I was never comfortable with the thought of using glue to attach it. Its nice to know you can just use bobby pins and they are pretty inexpensive.
