Default Cocktail Serving Sistahs, your advice needed...

Long story short: I applied at a club recently to be a cashier/hostess/doorgirl. I got an interview and it went very well, the club called me back the next day and said I was hired, and wanted to hire me as a COCKTAIL SERVER. I told the hiring manager I have absolutely no experience but in the interview I expressed intrest in becoming a cocktail server in the future, BUT they offered me the opportunity right away!!!

I have absolutely NO experience with serving in a stripclub or even restraunt. It will be a good learning experience for me but of course I am a bit anxious....I have not worked in a stripclub in years (hence wanting to start slow as a hostess) I have been a dancer years ago, and truly have no desire to get back into it. I wanted to get my foot in the door cocktail serving, and the opportunity came knocking sooner then expected. I thought the SC would be a good way for me to re-assimilate to a routine working environment from camming, and I am sure this will be more flexible then jumping straight back into working corporate, stiff jobs. In the future, I'd love to take cocktail serving to the next level and work in the casino/nightlife/daylife industries here.

I know there will be alot of temptation and drama working in this environment, but if I don't like it I can take the experience and move on. I really am blessed, in this economy, to be hired for a position that I have NO EXPERIENCE for that has good earning potential. I am not expecting to make dancer money but the money is better then working a retail job.

SOOO I am trying to learn how I can respond to certain situations that WILL arise working as a cocktail server in a stripclub. For example, I know on a nightly basis, I will be asked:
    -Why don't you dance?
-Can I get a dance from you?
-What are you doing after work?
-Can I get you a drink tonight? I DO NOT drink so I will have to find some good ways around this one)
-I have (insert asinine amount of money here) for a dance, blah blah blah....
-Compliment tippers (your sooo hot/sexy/blah/blah/blah) in other words "I am cheap but I want to try and distract you from my measly tip or lack thereof with compliments.

And who knows what else, NO experience here whatsoever, just thinking ahead so I can get my cocktail hustle down

My goal is to have some quick comebacks, that make them laugh, while providing good service, so they still want to TIP. I know that I will deal with alot of bullshit on a nightly basis, but I must respond to this in a witty/comical way to keep those tips coming, I can't just walk away like a dancer, etc!

I want to give this a fair shot, I am crazy enough that I just may enjoy it, but of course am nervous due to my lack of experience. TY cocktail serving sistahs for your advice!!

The good part is the clubs here are so saturated with dancers, these guys will barely have time to speak to lil ol me unless they do want a drink, but it will still happen, amist their barking their drink orders at me then shooing me off like a fly. I want to spend as little time shooting the shit with custys as possible, they are there to talk to the dancers, not the servers, but we all know they all want what they can't have lol.

You will find being a server (I was one as well)you will not be propositioned as much so if it comes to it just say I have a boyfriend. If they ask for a dance (and yes they will)tell them you won't do it but so and so will. Now this will come in time where you will develop relationships with your fave dancers where they will get guys to buy from you and you will encourage them to get dances from them.

There are plenty of positive about being a server and yes you will develop regulars but unlike dancing, which is a fantasy serving is not usually. Of course if you get a persistant man you could always use the old "I need to get to know you first".

You're waaaaaay over thinking this. Just go with the flow. It's a pretty easy job if you have two brain cells to rub together... and you do. Talk to your manager if you have any additional concerns- I'm sure he wants well trained staff on the floor.

WOOOO HOOOO After about a week of running around to get the dreaded work cards, I am on the schedule...THIS THURSDAY NIGHT!!!! I am excited you guys!

I have to remember that it is far from a dancer hustle, wording and hustling my way around their questions is really not that necessary, nor will it ever be. I am not trying to get dances, I am just serving drinks, I don't need to come up with fancy excuses to "sell a dance." I get drinks, I deliver drinks, and my job is DONE!

I just had to vent..all of this going on inside with my nervous anxiety, at about 2 am lol. After I posted I finally had a clear head and was able to get to sleep.

Now I just have to meet some ladies around here who work at the same club so we can tag team these idiots. So many girls come and go here so I will try to become aquaintences with some of the local girls that I see there all of the time, and go from there. I am happy to help dancers sell, as long as they take care of me back. If I help you sell and you don't tip me, I won't go out of my way to help you again.

You'll do fine! Don't worry ! My first job in a strip club was right after turning 21 ( like ... the day after or something ).
