For those of us who are not genetically blessed or who have not sold our souls to Satan for fantastic metabolisms what was the hardest thing for you to give up when you started a diet regimen whether it be Paleo, Atkins, Southbeach, whatever.

For me on the Paleo/fatkins hybrid the hardest thing was flour tortillas. My grandma used to make them fresh when I was a kid. Next is potatoes (I am half Irish)

Ice cream, lollies and white bread. I crave the sugar!

Pizza. Good lord, pizza. I miss cheese a lot.

I thought chocolate would be the hardest, but discovered that mixing together raw carob, raw cocoa butter, and raw honey with a little almond butter makes a chocolate that is so much better than anything I've ever tasted. So that is wonderful.

    French bread.
And smoking. Smoking kept me from wanting to work out and left me feeling tired. Actually have been able to be at my most lean and sexiest when I have not been smoking.

I haven't given up anything. I try to just moderate it and work out 5 times a week. The hardest thing to give up is my myself, I spoil myself too much. I need willpower.

I will work out 4 hours a day to stay fit before I give up food. I eat like a pig and don't give a fuck! I love food. I need my Vitamin T (tacos, tortas, tostadas, and tamales).

I'm not blessed with a fast metabolism, but I'd rather work out a lot than give up my favorite foods. I could never give up guacamole burritos and sandwiches.

When I started dancing, I just cut the portions not the foods.

But, due to the baby, I cut most of my caffeine intake and I'm suffering!!!!!!!

I think the hardest thing was changing how I thought about eating to be honest. Impulses and cravings can be overcome but the lifestyle change that comes with it and trying to adapt was a big challenge.

Still trying to cut as much sugar out as I can. Dairy was easily substituted, but now that gluten free is popular it's getting hard to make sensible choices with gf chips, cookies, etc.

Ice cream has to be the hardest for me though. Coconut milk ice cream just isn't the same.

what so many are missing is that your nutrition is lacking, working out to burn calories doesn't improve your health as would cutting out these carcinogens we call food. that's what i remind myself, it's overall health not just calories in and out.

I don't think I'm going to regret eating delicious burgers and fries on my deathbed. But yeah, you're right. I would totally cut out unhealthy food, but I'm too much of a foodie.

Spicy pineapple fried rice. Still have it veeeerrryyy infrequently but that shit puts me to sleep now.
And cheese. Loooovveee me some fancy cheese but I never eat it or crave it anymore since its been so long.

Trader joes bean muffins were my old comfort "health" food back when I was a cooked vegan and I miss them when it's cold.

Oh yeah, coffee. I just feel and look better without it (dehydrates the fuck outta me) but i love the buzz.

Mountain Dew Code Red and those damn 7-11 donuts. Best drunk food ever. Also Ben and Jerry's. And Tijuana Flats. And picadillo and maduros. And Wendy's spicy chicken sandwiches. And Thai food, especially curries. And pumpkin spice chai. And pretty much the entire Starbucks pastry case.

Jesus, it's a miracle I never turned into a total heifer. Thank god I take after my skinny mother. I've learned to be a pretty good cook so I don't mind eating mostly my own food but I am a whore for all of those foods. I've really gotten better about self control over the past few years which is a good thing because I'm in my 30s now and staying in shape is way harder than it used to be.
