    Default 30+ Holla Up! :-)

    Hey Lovelies!

After 18 months I've made the choice to come outta retirement. Wanna get my travel on and I know dancing has always helped me do this. I'm 30 now and while I'm 110% happy with the changes my body has made since I was 22 in the real world I need some weaponry for when my mind starts playing tricks on me (which I know it will) in the club. Would love to hear some things you find you're better at now, things you tell yourself when you have a bad night and start comparing... Anything that works for you now that is different from earlier in your career. Would love some pointers you've found looking after ourself too - I think my body is gonna feel it more these days and prob need a little more sleep than I used to ;-)

If you have the time I'd love some inspiration xxxxx

MSM powder and fish oil for creaky old lady joints! (I'll be 33 on Saturday.)

I haven't had any problem competing with the younger girls. You're practically guaranteed to be more confident, stable, and a better conversationalist/hustler than most of the sweet young things. Not that there's anything wrong with being young, too -- there's someone for everyone. Don't worry, you're not old till you look it. Go get 'em, tiger.

Do a search there was a thread about this 4 months ago. I posted some stuff about still being a top earner at 43 and my friend the same at 50. I posted a pic as well of us for inspiration but took it down, maybe someone who remembers the thread can post a link and I might repost the pic again.

I'll be 32 in June. Most people guess my age between 22-25.

While it's not always true, we tend to be top earners for all the reasons Annastasi posted. I run circles around most of the younger girls. I don't think I'm Princess Awesome Pants but I do very well for myself and I know a huge part of that is because I'm older and my priorities are different from many of the younger ones. I've already gotten my partying out of the way and I know exactly who I am and am very confident and comfortable in my own skin when I'm at work. That alone makes a lot of money. I'm also better at maintaining regulars (however much they may annoy me) because I've had enough experience to keep things interesting. I think it also helps that I don't FEEL old at all. I think it's so ridiculous that so many women feel like they should throw in the towel in their thirties. If you take care of your face and body there is no reason not to dance.

As for pointers, I'm a big fan of retin A and regular chemical peels. I second the MSM, it's worked wonders for me knees. Magnesium oil and epsom salts baths also help. I do yoga once a week and do a quick stretch routine every night before I get started. I don't drink alcohol at work but I do drink tons of water. Staying hydrated seems to help ward off soreness. For me, though, it's mostly about maintaining a positive mindset, so I do self-affirmations and really make it a point to tend to my real life. A lively, happy person will always make more money and seem more youthful.

I'm not there yet but I'm close. My tips: Vitamins, sunblock when I do venture out in the sun, otherwise stay the hell out of it if possible, gym 5x a week and invest in plastic surgery.

I'm 33 and have danced since I was 20. The only criticism I received about dancing in my thirties came from an ex dancer who couldn't hang and got ugly from years of instant gratification...so I don't sweat it. The money is just as green as from a vanilla job and more plentiful so if you're hot go for it!

I haven't aged very much because I didn't participate in the negative aspects of the lifestyle (drug abuse, alcoholism) but benefitted from the postitive aspects (leisure time, rest, less stress, money to spend on a healthy food, etc.) One advantage we have over non-dancers our age is we have an incentive to take care of our bodies and physical appearance, so we never "let ourselves go."

I work more efficiently now than before. I am more frugal in my spending. I am definitely a better hustler now than before. Strangely, I look better than I did in my twenties. The only thing I can't do that I did in my twenties is go out after work at 4am to a bar or to eat. I'm just too damn tired!

Burnout is a factor you want to avoid if you're in the same club for an extended period. For that moderation is key. Instead of spreading yourself thin by working 5-6 days a week, eliminate the less profitable days and conserve your energy for the more profitable ones. Travelling is a good way to avoid burnout too.

No need to compare yourself to other dancers. There will always be ones hotter, less hot, younger, and older than yourself. Plus, it distracts away from the reason you're there which is to make $$$.
