    Default Proudest Pole Dancing Moments

I didn't see another thread like this so I'll start. I bruised my ribs pretty badly Friday night while I was doing a few new inversions I'm learning, and now it hurts to breathe. I'm supposed to wait 3 months before I do those tricks again. *sigh*
But I still had to work yesterday and I wanted to keep learning tricks so just for the hell of it I figured I'd try a knee hold. Well, after about twenty tries, three inches of skin ripped off the back of my knee, and a sore arm from trying to hold myself up, I did it!!!!!!! I did it 4 times after that to make sure it wasn't a fluke! Yayyyy!!!!!!! This is the coolest trick I've learned so far and I'm so so so excited cause I can do it even with a busted rib!!

    Post yours!!

I'm so thrilled for you! The pole is definitely my happy place at work & I'm always so childishly psyched whenever I finally master smtg I've been busting my ass (ribs, knees, etc) over, or when I see sm1 else master their nemesis pole trick. My proudest moment so far has been getting the basic shoulder mount threesome: the mount w/o kicking to get myself up, the hold, & the dismount. I am currently working on making the aerial shoulder mount my bitch.

    Only thing, plz be careful!

Yeah, I got too cocky and thought I had that move under my belt. Well, the old busted ass pole showed me lol I can barely kick myself up into a shoulder mount! You must be strong!

I used to fairly competent on the pole during my first stint of dancing, but after 18 months off and only going on a pole twice in the interin time, this weekend at work (about 5 months back into dancing again) i managed to do a gemini to scorpio to hip hold combo for the first time ever and i was made up. And managing to hold a teddy bear for about a minute topped my being proud of myself moments on sunday. I have to get the guts to re-try doing the catarpillar again, im scared of this move now for some reason! This and extended butterfly, the idea terrifies me! Even though they both used to be standard part of my repetoire.

My ankle gave way on stage while trying to pull one off on the pole. I was gripping the pole for dear life.
    Oops, most shameful moment!

I'm doing a pole recital on 3/31. My choreographer is a well known acrobat in los angeles. I had to miss rehearsal last night due to family stuff. I found out, our set had been switched around. I am now performing WITH SAID ACROBAT and another girl. We will both be pulling off death lays. I have NEVER done one. But I'm cool with the stuff leading up to it. It's easy for me to do an aerial shoulder mount from a side climb or a (fairly easy) from a ship's bitch. I landed a perfect allegra on Monday and getting over my fear of brass monkey from shoulder mount.

But this will be my first ever recital. I feel proud and fearful. Oh, and we're sold out:-0

Caterpillar crawl. That move requires mad upper body strength! I'm not too much of a pole enthusiast though, I just like doing it at home. When I'm at work the combination of my glasses + 8-inch mules + vodka makes pole work rather dangerous..

That is one of my favorite moves! So much fun--and it is always an audience favorite!

after 7 long years I recently mastered the U Bend..though I haven't tried it at work yet because I am afraid of making a fool of mahself. Now I am working on a variation of the Rubber Ayesha..though in my variation I want my legs to be reaching over my head because I think that would be prettier. Hopefully I'll get there soon!!

My proudest moments would be mastering the shoulder mount and knee hold =) 2 moves that I thought were impossible for me to do and are now my faves! I can get into them so easily now...

It's sometimes called a Figurehead. It's the one where you look like a mermaid in the front of an old pirate's ship. Hence, ship's bitch.

thanks! i love pole dancing! it's my favorite thing to do at work, even if it might not affect how much money i make. i was working on my jade today. it's much harder than just doing a split on the ground but it's looking better! I would say to keep working on your splits and other tricks cuz the jade has taken me like a year and a half to even successfully attempt.

That's a good looking jade. It's all about the line and the balance. I hate it when my jade looks lop-sided:-(

How do you learn to do the splits like that? I can do the splits on the ground. Is there any stretches you do to get that type of flexibility?

^OOOhhh thankyou for asking that! I am wondering about this too. I am pretty damn flexible but I can't do splits on the pole....like...I can't explain it but when I am in the air it is so much more difficult. I can't figure it out...

I'm not so good w crazy tricks, but I do a lot of spins. There are a lot of girls who are crazy on the pole at my club and I've been trying some tricks for yeeeeeaaaaarrrsse now and still can't get them down.

i don't think it's really about flexibility. if you notice, my hips are out of square, which means i'm not in a pure split. in a pure split, your hips are perfectly square so they're both facing forward. in an out of square split, the hip of the front leg is in front and the other one is facing out. it's more about the position of your body on the pole. it took me a long time to figure out the right position of my hips on the pole and i can only do it with my left hand pushing my left leg close to the pole. otherwise, you will fall right off. when i finally decided i had a jade, it was because i don't just fall out of it anymore, which means my hip is close enough to the pole. here's a link to aerial amy's blog with tips on how to do the jade. maybe it will help you.
