I had a recently popped into a club I had worked for that was under new ownership. I had not danced since October and I was quite nervous going in since I hadn't danced in a while. I went in well dressed, tanned, mani, pedi, hair done nicely ( ok, a really nice wig ). I wore my favorite outfit, a playboy shorts set that always makes me money as opposed to the standard bikinis everyone else was wearing. I had brushed up on hustle hut posts and dancerwealth and made sure to apply those techniques throughout the night.
When I had been doing my research on the club and on all the review sites there was a common complaint from customers was that none of the girls really approached them and just hung out in a group BSing with each other and that the most effort they would put out was "wanna dance". I figured it would be like shooting fish in a barrel and it was. I just smiled sunshine out my ass the entire time, was super friendly and flirty and did light to medium contact dances all night. No more than 20 people came through the door and this was a Thursday night during high season while a major event that brings in thousands of businessmen was going on. I was a bit surprised by the thin crowd but did decent even though the dances were only $7.00 on the floor and $10.00 in VIP. Although it wasn't the most profitable, it was one of the most fun and stress free nights dancing that I have had since the recession started. I had been stressed about going back and by the end of the night I was really looking forward to dancing again.
After giving the DJ a generous tip ( he did a great job ) The club owner pulled me aside and said something to the effect of " I'm not saying you can never work here again, we are just going to cut you loose. It is really slow right now and it is not fair to the other girls if you work here." I was so taken aback that my response was "ummmmmm.......ok?" I wish I would have asked for a more solid reason than that and pointed out that the other dancers don't hustle or ask why there was no effective advertising other than billboard that is an hour out of town. How about the fact that it is season the club is a few block from a military base and thousands businessmen in town and only 20 head through the door. This seems like a bigger problem than someone who is a skilled hustler taking all teh moneys. Nope, I just left and bitched relentlessly to my boyfriend about it.
Best thing to do is just forget it and move onto another club, but it has been bugging the shit out of me. I can understand auditioning and being told to tone up or that I am not what they are looking for. These are solid reasons and something that I can personally fix. I've also been told they have too many girls (bullshit) when i have requested an audition. That is fine as well. I have never worked an entire shift, done well and then told to get lost. This is a new one on me.
I've been stranded out in AZ for the last month since my van broke down. I haven't worked since that night because I have been sick and now I really need the money to get back home. I have a choice between the faux upscale club with shit management, the slummy club that I've never made money at, the ghetto shoot em up club with extras, the semi upscale club near the airport that no one really talks about and the locals bikini bar that there is very little info on ( which I am honestly leaning towards ). Really, I just want someone to give me $500.00, two Iron Maiden pit tickets and maybe a pony ( a girl can dream, right ). Any feedback on this matter is welcome.
