Hi,
Just was curious if anyone here drank raw milk
which isn't readily available unless you know
someone with an goat or cow or have one yourself.
Anyway, if you do drink it, have you noticed any
improvements in your body?

I had a Dutch friend in primary school who lived on a dairy farm, so I drank raw cow's milk two or three times. Let me tell you right off that it tastes WAY different than pasteurized milk. Have you had it before? I found the taste extremely unpalatable, so unless you're tried it before, proceed with caution.

hmm, that's weird. I wonder why it tasted that way. I've heard different. I actually don't like regular milk. Not that I'm lactose intolerant, though
my stomach does sometimes get a bit squiggy the first time I have it when I haven't had a glass of milk or ice cream. Not often, but sometimes.
I prefer almond milk. But I have the chance for some goat and maybe cow milk that's unpasteurized, and looking up all the health benefits
(especially considering my boyfriend sometimes get heartburn), I'm excited to get it and try it.
I did a quick search, and I guess raw milk varies from farm to farm depending on what they're eating, and even, when grazing, different plots of grass.
*shrug* hope I get some good tasting stuff.

ooooooh. let us know! i always wonder about that. i know fresh eggs are supposed to me amazing!

I'm still reading up on it and looking at the differences between raw vs. pasteurization vs. homogenization.
Found this website if you want to see if there's a registered raw dairy near you:

I do know it's illegal to sell raw milk unless you have all the licensing and is illegal in some states.

I grew up in a little village, where it is normal to have your own veggies, fruit, milk, eggs, meat etc. For me it is natural to drink raw cow milk. While I was little they boiled it for me, laters we didn't bother to boil it at all.
Now I live further away, occasionally I still get some raw milk in a store, but I don't really like it. Not cause there is something wrong with it, I simply prefer to see/know the cows that gave the raw milk. Old habits die hard lol.
Ofc when I visit home, I drink it. It is totally different, very very delicious, rich and creamy. And it isn't even so very white! If it was not boiled, there is a thick layer on the top of it, rich thick cream, it is good for coffe for example. However my mum does not really like raw milk, especially in the summer. She says she can smell the grass.
I have some friends, who didn't get used to it like me, and they still prefer the boxed milk, which is so different to the original. When I first tried it I hardly could call it 'milk' but now I buy it, drink it and like it too.
You can give it a try, you either like it or not.
Also it might cause you diarrhea if you are not used to it, I cannot find better words, it is kinda heavy.
I don't have much experience with goat milk, because our family never had goats unlike cows. When I tried it once, somehow I didn't like how it tasted. However they say it is easier to digest goat milk.
I'm spoiled because I eat home grew veggies and fruits, when I visit my grandmas they always stock me with fresh eggs, meat, bacon so I hardly buy these in the store, and yes they are better, richer, more tasteful and colourful than those in the store, but noone can expect miracles.
If you shop in an average store, try to prepare your meals, instead of ordering and eating-out everytime, you keep an eye one the nutritions you need, vary the foods you eat, maybe get some nutritional supplements and vitamins, you will see a change for sure.
I love the farmhouse ingredients, I believe that they are good, I would miss their taste, the richness, the colours, but for example there is my husband, he grew up in the capital city, never saw a cow or a chiken, never ate farmhouse stuff for 30 years before we met (he still gets diarrhea whenever he drinks raw milk) but he was and is super healthy, had and has a killer body, cause he always keeps an eye on the nutritions he needs, and trains a lot.
While me... I don't feel healthier than him and body-wise..... ummm never mind I have just seen a thread with some Insanity Beach Body stuff in it, I think I will have to give it a try..
Feel free to correct the grammar mistakes, I hope it is readable, but since I left school I practice english only in MMORPGs and Camsites and that has an effect.![]()

Yes! Raw milk is available for sale in California. Rawsome and a couple other brands at the store. It separates in your glass and tastes great. Even better than organic.
I think as long as you're not immune-suppressed it's a more "whole food" that still has natural enzymes.
The vegans say we shouldn't eat animal milk but I've been a milk fiend since before I could write.

My chore was to milk the goats, lol! I grew up on a small 5-acre farm and we had a few nubian goats that we used for milk....we also used to make our own cheese. Anytime I've ever bought goat milk or cheese in the store it has this strange musky after taste...which is still so weird to me because our goats produced milk that was super sweet and thick. I wish I could provide some insight about the health benefits, but the fact of the matter is that I was a teenager at the time, lol, so I was healthier in general. I certainly prefer it to the stuff you'd find in a store, in part because it was always nice to know exactly where your milk was coming from and why it tasted the way it did(due to what the particular animal was eating the taste of the milk seemed to vary and (in my experience) there was a co-relation between thickness of the milk and the age of their 'kid'). Try it out!

In my country many people, who has pollen allergies drink goat milk, cause they have the goat fed on the plants that cause them allergies, and then there is something in the milk which is good for the allergy lol. I don't know how it works exactly but I find it really interesting.

I drink only raw milk and I LOVE IT!!!! I haven't tried raw goat milk but my son and I go through about 2 gallons of raw cow milk a week. I drink it for breakfast and throughout the day and I have noticed that I eat less food in general and I have lost a ton of fat. Most people think it would cause them to gain weight but for me it's the opposite...During the times when my friend's cow has been dry and I cannot get my milk, I actually gain weight. My hair and skin, teeth and nails are gorgeous since I went raw and I just feel all around better! It makes me feel happy throughout the day when I'm drinking it...I know that sounds strange but it totally has this awesome well being effect for me. I've had no negative effects from it at all, and contrary to what some people say about slowly switching...I switched full force without any problems what so ever. It costs me $10 a gallon but with all the raw cream at the top I get to make my own organic sour cream, yogurt, butter and cheese and it's well worth the 20 dollars I spend a week on milk. If you are thinking of going raw...just do it!! But I strongly recommend finding a good connection from a farmer or friend with a cow that way you always know how fresh it is and where it's coming from. Raw milk lasts in the fridge about 2 weeks. Good luck!!!
Also the only difference between the taste of fresh raw cow milk and pasteurized dead milk is that fresh raw milk tastes MUCH BETTER. If it tastes unpleasant than maybe the cow ate something bad..idk..but raw milk from a grass fed cow tastes delicious. The texture is also much better, the thing is this...after you milk the cow or get your milk you let it sit in the fridge undisturbed for 12 hours, then you scoop the cream off the top and set aside to make your cheese/yogurt/clotted cream..whatever you wish, then you drink the milk. It's the best!!!!!!

I am lactose intolerant, but I went to sleep over at a farm and they served me coffee with raw milk. I was so excited to taste it. It was DELICIOUS! And my tummy felt fine. Keep in mind that the TASTE of conventional milk literally makes me want to barf. Before it gets to my stomach, I want to barf and then when its in my stomach, I REALLY want to barf. So to those who think raw milk tastes weird -- I saw conventional milk tastes weird. Ever since I was a baby, I would not drink that stuff (only my mama's raw milk).
The funny thing is that pasteurization was invented to kill germs without affecting the taste of the product. Look at what we've done now lol.
My only concern is some pathogens that can occur in the raw milk. This is a definite issue with raw cheese, but it still happens with raw milk. How do we feel safe drinking raw milk?

Lactose intolerant people CAN drink raw milk...the good bacteria or whatever it is in the milk that keeps you from being lactose intolerant is killed during pasteurization therefore you can drink raw milk without problem. It should rather be called pasteurized-lactose intolerant now shouldn't it! And about the pathogens...I have read that listeria is more likely to occur in pasteurized factory milk on the shelves than any problems associated with raw milk consumption..also I think the only big threat from raw milk is campylobactor which is not really as serious as the name sounds..just a bit of puking and upset stomach or fever..but again not likely from a clean farm with healthy cows...besides with all the amazing vitamins and such that you'll be getting from the raw milk your body will be so strong and healthy you won't really worry about getting sick, I can't sing the praises enough of raw milk! It's so healthy for you that you could drink nothing but raw milk and live on it and be healthy...it's a whole food..just drink it = )

Wow. Well, I am still a bit concerned about the risk of raw milk... but you're not the first person to talk about the cleanliness of the farm. And thanks for telling me about the truth about my lactose intolerance. I'll start looking more into getting raw milk for my life. It tastes fantastic, too. It was the first time I drank coffee happily.
Out of curiosity, are you also into eating organ meats?
Several people have asked me if I would be a vegan, but with all the benefits of non-conventional meat sources are hard to ignore.

I grew up drinking raw milk. Never got sick or anything.

I have been vegetarian for the last 3 years...I tried the vegan thing for a bit but I really feel much healthier with the raw milk added in and plus I love cheese to much to stay vegan...Lol. Oh and I get protein from the eggs my chickens lay also...But if you are still going to eat meat then I think that organic grass fed is the only way to go... Im glad you are also on here telling about how awesome raw milk tastes too...i don't know why many people think it tastes different...it's sooo much better! = )
