    Default Some dancers I just don't understand (rant alert)

    Okay, let me see if I have the process straight: 1) Dancer gets on stage, 2) Dancer demonstrates how awesome her moves are, 3) Custy walks up and stuffs a wad of 1's in her g-string and, after a few seconds of attention, asks her to join him at his table.
    This is where the story gets murky real fast. So, she gets done staging, carefully gathers her 1 dollar bills, walks up to his table and says "I have to smoke a cigarette. Wait for me?", he says "Yes." They exchange names (his first name for her stage name) and she leaves to "smoke" for about 10 minutes. She comes back in, doesn't even look at him, walks across the club to the front counter (you know, where they charge you for cover?) and starts chatting to a bouncer and fondling her 1 dollar bills that she loves so much. Our hero then walks up to her, she turns to him and says "Oh...I'll be there in a minute".
    Meanwhile the custy, with multiple 20s in his shirt pocket (for easy access) is thinking to himself "What? What are you doing? You're not making any money up there at the counter playing with 1's." (Of course he doesn't actually say this, but maybe he should have...) She then proceeds to walk to the bar, a guy comes up behind her, pokes her, she smiles and gives him a hug, chats with him (keep in mind she hasn't made a single penny since our confused custy's stage tip). That's when our hero sitting at his table waiting to give her real money loses all patience with her. Long story short he walks up to another dancer and invites HER to his table, she actually GOES, and proceeds to get the money that was intended for the first dancer (the stupid one who loves her 1's).
    Am I missing something? She was $#%^ hotter than anyone else in the whole club, and she couldn't have been that stupid. Maybe some dancers just prefer to stage dance? That must be it, because in the hour and a half I was there, the wad of 1's I gave her probably accounted for a whole one-fourth of the money she made! She must really hate giving LDs. Rant over.

    I had a similar experience a couple of months ago and I posted the issue in Customer Conversation, but in less rant-like form. The consensus was basically that for whatever reason, she didn't want to dance for me. I'm assuming that was the case with yours as well. Probably could've been any number of reasons. But yeah, this is one of the reasons that so many of us guys don't approach dancers while in the club, and wait for the dancers to instead come over to us.

    As I'm sure you can understand, sometimes it's the dancers that cannot be "gotten" that seem that much more desirable...

    Well yeah. But it's not like you guys are at the bar. The fact that she's hot doesn't mean that she's going to be harder to get dances from. The girls are at work. Money is money. That's why I wouldn't take it personally. She probably didn't feel like dancing for anyone at that point. You just caught her at a bad time most likely. Next time you come in with your wad of 20s, she'll probably be all over you (and your 20s!).

    There are so many possible variables in play here that there is no way you can really know what she was thinking or why she did what she did.

    Maybe she:
    1. was tired and needed a break;
    2. didn't like something about the way you looked or acted;
    3. tends to cater to, or focus on, certain customer types and you were not in that group;
    4. was waiting for someone else to show up;
    5. was just too lazy to work the room;
    6. wasn't feeling well and didn't want to deal with customers;
    7. was waiting for food to arrive;
    8. had something else going on [insert anything else that you can dream up]; and/or
    9. had any combination of the above going on.

    Getting frustrated over, or even trying to make sense of, a dancer who seems to lack interest or motivation is a pointless exercise. There are an infinite number of potential reasons for it, most of which are outside of your control, and you will usually not know what that reason is anyway. Your best bet is just to shrug it off and move on to someone who wants your money.

    Anyway, just my

    I second what rickdugan said,

    or she could have been leaving early/ending her shift and not wanted to tell you for safety reasons (customers trying to follow her or see what kind of car she drives/write down license plate).

    I work 5 hour shifts sometimes so I leave at 1 AM at clubs that close at 4 AM. If someone comes and asks for a dance at 12:50 AM I might tell them I'll be right back and then go downstairs to put my clothes on because I don't want them to know I'm leaving. She could have been waiting for a ride to pick her up, waiting for security to walk her out, waiting for a manager to cash her out/trade in her singles, etc before she left.
    If you are willing to do for one year what other's won't, you can spend a lifetime doing what other's cant.

    I can totally understand your frustration. I honestly have no clue what to say or how to explain her behaviour. Who the hell knows. I can tell you if it were me I'd have come over, but that's not going to make what happened anymore understandable to you. Look at it the way it really is, her loss, and move on. Hopefully you had a good time with the dancer who did come over.

    Yes, for what it's worth, she was very graceful, polite, and eager to entertain. I have her name filed away in the ole' noggin

    Yeah I know what happened here, but only because it happens to me all the time. Here's the thing, she was probably overwhelmed by your raw, animal masculinity. Like I said, happens to me all the time. The thing is, when guys like you and me have the potent blend of sexy studliness, charm, and that certain 'je ne sais quoi' it can be overwhelming to a woman, especially a scantily-clad dancer who wears no armor against our formidable man-seduction powers. Over time, I've learned to control my intense sexual magnetism to avoid using it on some poor, hapless woman whose only crime is wandering too close to my tractor beam of lust. So what happens is, she finds herself about to ruin what was probably an expensive dancer wear outfit because of the torrent of lubrication and sex juice flowing from twixt her thighs like a waterfall in the Spring. So to avoid both the cost, public embarrassment, and shame of so wantonly and messily displaying her aching need in clear view of the club's patrons, she avoided you. Getting far away from your dude heat was the only way to calm her racing heartbeat, and cool her desperately throbbing loins that, quite possibly, would've caused a vaginal meltdown had she so much as brushed up against your broad shoulders. It's the unfortunate curse of being a pure sex God, I know.

    At least, that's what I tell myself.

    I always take my glasses off and put them on a side table during lap dances. That keeps the frames from getting bent and the lenses from getting smeared.

    Had interesting experience couple of days back. I walk into a new club and the DJ is hollering "$2 dances". Girls circulating all over the place and giving mini laps, maybe 30 seconds. I'm just trying to settle in and order a drink, which I do.

    Then a dancer starts in uninvited. Didn't get a chance to take my glasses off. Next thing I know her hair (extensions?) hook onto my glasses and they go flying across the floor!

    Course it's dark in there and I'm blind as a bat without them. Fortunately she was able to find them for me and no damage done.

    First time for everything!

    I had this happen to me once. Not the dancing without asking piece, but the guy said yes to a dance, left his glasses on, and just as I'm thinking I shouldn't get too close with my hair (which is very long) a stray strand hooks them and they break. I felt absolutely horrible. He swore it was ok but I felt like an idiot.

    This girl's hair was pretty long too. She kinda came out of nowhere so I didn't have time to react. I always take off my glasses because as UtahMike said among other things I don't like the smeared lenses.

    She was apologetic. I was just glad to get them back without having to recruit a bouncer with a flash light or something. Fortunately these glasses are pretty durable, the titanium frames or whatever it is where you can practically twist them into a pretzel (Flex something). Wasn't intentional when I bought them but came in handy in this case!

    I always ask customers to remove their belt, keys, cigarette packs, pens, or other hard objects and give them the option to remove their glasses before a dance.

    When I'm feeling like a comedian I say: "Welcome to Laurisa's Lap Dance Service, please note that you are to remain seated at all times, keep your hands where I can see them, remove your belt and sharp personal effects; that includes keys, pens, and weapons of mass destruction".

    They usually laugh.

    Dancers are like cats. You can use any lure you want; they decide when to climb into your lap.

    Don't take it personally. There are any number of reasons, some good, some bad, that could have caused her behavior. I've spent far too many nights waiting at my table for a girl to come over. I don't wait anymore and I don't really worry about why it does or doesn't happen. I just move on. If she's the only dancer worth pursuing in the club it's time to go to another club.

    ^ Exactly. It's business for her and entertainment for you. When the stars are aligned properly it can work out well for both parties. If, on the other hand, a particular lady doesn't seem interested in entertaining you just give your business to another...

    Of course, I have regular ladies that I patronize, in some cases for many years but they got to be regulars by not wasting my time. Again, it's no small coincidence that I don't waste theirs either.

    I think a lot of strippers have gotten very complacent and don't really ever make an effort at work. We've all had nights where it seems that money is just falling from the ceiling into your lap and you didn't have to do a goddamn thing to earn it. But that's honestly pretty rare. The ironic thing is that the money they've become complacent with is probably less than half the money they COULD be making. I have zero patience with dancers who don't even try. But hey--the lazier they are, the more money I'll make. So on second thought, they should totally keep it up.

    Social, I agree whole-heartedly with everyone else. Here's another scenario - sounds like the guy at the bar whom she hugged is a regular. She smiled, hugged and chatted... which means he spends. Probably a lot. Maybe she knew what time he was coming in and didn't want to be tied up with you - you're new, she has no idea how much you're going to spend. He's a regular, and she knows she'll get a steady stream of current and future income from him. I'd bet on him too.

    Otherwise, yeah, she was being lazy, needed a break, etc - all the other reasons everyone's listed. Including Lestat whom I think is really correct.

    ^ You know, when I started, I would see all these dancers spending hours at the bar with customers, never doing dances or anything, just sitting there. And I thought, "Wow, all these girls are totally getting paid tons of money by these regulars to just sit and chat. I need to learn and perfect this art so that I, too, can make money like this." It took a bit for me to realize the startling truth--these customers weren't paying shit. I was just talking to lol1337a the other day about this--these girls were only getting free drinks out of these guys. Nothing else. They were NOT getting tipped for time. Maybe the girls stayed too drunk to really be concerned about money, I don't know. But I think this is often the case.

    I've never worked at a club that charged you to go on stage. There was a set house fee that had to be paid regardless of how many dances you sold, how many times you went onstage, or how much money you made. Either they took it out of your cut of the lap dances (which was only $10 as it was) or you had to pay it out of pocket.
