I was working last night, typical Saturday with a few bachelor parties in. I noticed there were a group of 12 with no dancers talking to them so I wander over. They're very interesting, and I flirt with the group for a few minutes before the man I can assume was the best man said "we'd like to buy our stag a dance." I told him the price and he said "no, we want something a bit more special." so I upsold him a 15 minute set for £100, saying I would whip the stag and that they could all watch, that if they all chipped in it would be a lot of fun. The best man went around collecting the money of the group who were all more than happy to oblige, and I was talking to the stag. Then, 2 girls appear and ask if they want more girls. The guys don't give a good response - they're a little tight. I explain to the girls that the group have decided they wanted a 15 minute set from me and that I was sure the stag would be requiring dances once I was done. Girl 1 backed off a little, girl 2 started hanging all over the stag, stroking him and saying "are you sure you don't want me baby?"
I ignored it, the best man was standing in front of me with the cash ready and looking a bit pissed off at the intrusive girls. He came with me to exchange the money into vouchers and then suddenly the stag appears with girl 2, and said "can we get her?" to which I replied "well you've already paid for me, so if you want her that's another £100". He said "can I swap girls?" I dropped the £100 vouchers on the table and told him he could do whatever he liked on his stag do. I left quickly. I completely lost my rag.
I complained to management who made me sit down and talk to the girl. She acted all innocent going "but babe he decided he wanted me". I said "I don't care about what he wants, there's nothing either of us can do about that but what I'm saying is I did all the groundwork and you swooped in a took the prize, I don't know what you think you were doing. You might as well have gone in my bag and taken the money out of my purse. You can act all innocent with me but I can see through it." She stuck to her innocent guns and tried to tell me it was all part of the job and I went "Don't patronise me, I know what the job is." Meoowwwwwww.
I just want confirmation I've done the right thing?
It annoyed me because it's not the first time she's done this sort of thing - it's never been so obvious and she's hardly done it to me but she and this other girl she teams up with often go and steal customers even when there's only 1 guy, and a girl already talking to him.
It's a hard call to define the line between not fighting with your co-workers and making sure they don't walk all over you because you're a newbie ITC.
It is a cut throat business, and she got the kill, but I wanted to stand up for myself, because I never do - I HATE confrontation. But I knew that if I surrendered without a fight she'd see me as weak and potentially do it again and again and again..
Confidence boosters please!
